I got this book "Love Relationships" because I assumed it was by Linda Goodman and then suddenly, I found out it wasn't. But I figured I could try it anyway. Now in the beginning it says that a sextile is two spaces away. Now this is just an example. If say, one person's mars is in Leo and the other person's mars is in Gemini, that would be sextile. So I went at it like a game, I drew my chart and another person's chart out in a line and counted spaces. And I got a lot of information that seemed somewhat accurate in some way or another. Some have yet to really be explored. What put doubt in my mind was when I did a test chart on astrodienst and a lot of what I found like, mars sextile mars, was not there. Now I'm wondering if maybe you can only go in a certain direction. I'm terribly confused. Or maybe because it's a test chart, it doesn't give the complete chart.... I may have given a bad example but I am reeling from all this to begin with. Can someone give me advice? Thanks

Hi! I did the same thing girl... What you found to be different is that on astrodienst it takes into account the degrees. The book just goes by the signs. Does that make sense. FOr instance, my bf's sun is in leo and my moon is in virgo. According to the book, that's not even an aspect section for that. But if I take into account the degrees of the planets, it makes a difference. His sun is at about 29 degrees leo. My moon is at about 8 degrees of virgo. Now depending on what orb allowance is used, usually 10 degrees I think, you can say that his sun is conjunct my moon, even though they are in different signs.... make sense? So, yea, it's the degrees that they took into consideration.

Someone just brought that up, I think, in another thread, and they said to consider the "same sign" aspects as well, even if they are not in orb.

For example: You have Mercury in Cancer, and they have Sun in Cancer. Right there, you'll have a special understanding. If you then look at the orb and it's also within orb, I think it will just make it that much more intense.

I like this way.

Yes, you certainly should take non-orbed sign aspects and even non-orbed house aspects into consideration when doing either natal or synastry astrology. Like AJ said, these will be less intense that orbed aspects, but they have influence as well. Everything in the chart has influence - it's just a matter of detemining to what degree and how it interacts with the other influences present.

The main thing to bear in mind with doing non-orbed aspects is to always remember that orbed aspects are inevitably stronger, regardless to what you want to happen. Hence if you have a synhastry that has a Sun and Venus that are trined by sign and not orbed, and a Sun squared Mars by orb, the square is stronger and will have more influence than the trine, even though you'd probably prefer the trine to have more influence.

Okay, I sort of understand... so is that book not correct? I'm really super curious now because according to the book, My Venus sextiles this person's Pluto which suggests soul mates and I'm really curious to know whether or not it's true and what it means if it is true. I'm thirsting for knowledge and yet I seem to find more confusion than answers...

the book is correct, just draw another chart and include the orbs then you'll get the aspects that you guys have
