I don't read them much, rarely put "faith" into what they say... anyone find them to ever be even a bit true (in retrospect)?

People I know who know I'm "into" astrology always ask me if I "believe" in horoscopes. I usually say "no" 'cause I find them random at best, not very informative at worst.

I'd love to know what you (and you and you and you and you, too) think about them.

Many thanks in advance!

Karen

Just reply next time, that EVERYTHING depends on the astrologer writing the daily's. Some astrologers suck, and some are right on. And then I'd leave it at that because the astrologer who "speaks to you" may not be the same one for him/her.

I put some stock in Sidney Omarr, but there are others who's names escape me, probably because there's so many bad astrologers doing daily's that I rarely read them. And if I do, I just take it with a grain of salt.

For example, I once looked at one of those teen magazine's horoscopes "for the month" to see if the astrologer had any "talent". And they are so ridiculous, that you can almost tell it's a put on.

So I think that's what sort of gives the authentic astrologers a bad name, if there are other's doing characatures due to being uninformed.

Astrojunkie, you are so correct.

I find it painfully amusing when some self-proclaimed Astrologers try and cast a horoscope for newspapers. When I am reading a newspaper, I admit it; I flip right to the horoscope section first. It is not to see what that day supposedly has in store for me; it is just to get a good laugh. Some of the things they concoct are marvelous though.

For example, a text-book newspaper horoscope will go as follows:
Aries: Getting in an argument today is for certain.
Cancer: Today is going to be a bad day for you...your moods will go up-and-down.
Virgo: Even though you planned today out to a tee, a mishap is going to occur.
Libra: Be careful today, you might have to make some hard decisions.
Scorpio: Most likely, you will make someone angry today.

After I read the horoscopes in newspapers, I think, “What did I waste my money for?”

When an astrologer who writes for a newspaper or magazine writes a horoscope for a sign, they (usually) cast a Solar Wheel for each sign. So, a Sun Sign horoscope for say, a Gemini, would look like a chart for someone who had a Gemini Rising. Gemini would start off the chart.

So, from there, the placements of the planets would be in the respective signs and houses that they are transiting. And that is where they base their interpretations for the horoscopes.

By reading your Sun Sign forecasts you don't get a very accurate forecast. You should be reading the forecast for your rising sign. That makes it much more personal.

Does this make sense?

Not to say that some of those magazine and newspaper horoscopes are not just made up. But for the most part, this is the approch an astrologer will take to cast generalized horoscopes for each Sun Sign.

Here is a good link for really good monthly horoscopes. Remember read your rising sign. In my case I read Aquarius Rising, because I have that sign intercepted in the first house. So the transits described for Aquarius all fit perfectly into my chart and match the transits going on within it. http://www.astrologyzone.com/

Hope that helps!

Thank you, 26!!

That was very specific, and informative. I never realized that about reading the horoscopes for your rising sign, which for me is Aries. The information I just read has really given me a boost, as I've been in a slump of frustration for the past two months. I know I have it in me to get done what I need to get done, and it's reasuring to know the planets are (for once) going to be on my side.

But I usually don't hold much stock in horoscopes, for me it's like reading about alien babies or sasquatch in the rag mags at the supermarket. It's purely there for entertainment. And it is irritating that there are so many hack astrologists out there that make skeptics even more adament that astrology is a bunch of bollocks. Trust me, I hear it everyday, nobody around me ever wants to hear about it, like when I say ''well, thank goodness the mercury retrograde is over, now I can start a new project'', they just groan and roll their eyes. Eh, to each her own, I guess.

Hey Ghani!!

Youre welcome! Glad you got something out of that. It really is a good thing to know. I rarely read my Sun Sign forecast anymore because the rising sign forecast is much more accurate. Although, I also don't live my life by all of it either.

And I know how it is, when people start groaning when you start the astrological talk. "Ohhh, transiting Moon is conjunct your Mars today -- that's why youre so irritable!!" Hey! Their loss! Once you start observing these things - there's no denying that the planets have an affect us.

Hope your stars have good things in store for you!!

Take care,
26
