I was outside gazing at the stars, as I often do, and I had a thought about planets in retrograde in the natal chart.

I think when a planet is retrograde it simply means that whatever that planet is spiitting out, it's directed inward at the person who owns that planet. It's personal. Even when that planet aspects those of another person, it's always felt more personally by the owner of the retro planet.

To have a planet in Rx or retro in your natal chart means that you are not here to teach with that planet, but rather, to learn. Whenever it's affected by transits, its you and you alone who has to cope with it, internally. If you have alot of retro planets in your natal, it means you've chosen a pretty spirtually heavy academic life for yourself. Maybe you want to fast-track?

Retro planets are planets that are meant to be overly stimulating personally to the owner only, not to those who they make aspect to. If someone else is effected by another person's retro planets, it's only via a sense of LACK of attention from that planet. Retro planet owners have to be especially aware of where they might be starving their loved ones in sight of their retro planets. It's not easy to share these energies with others, because it's so self oriented.

My theory. Out of nowhere while staring at the sky.

Hi Lioneye,

Your theory reasonates and makes sense to me. I have 4 Rx planets in my natal chart.

How many do you have?

"If someone else is affected by another person's retro planets, it's only via a sense of LACK of attention from that planet."

Is the word "attention" the same as energies from aspects? Would the lack of attention lessen the affect of the aspect?

Geez, I forgot all about this. Y'all must think I'm terribly rude to just abandon the thread like that.

It was just one of those Uranian out-of-the-blue moments, gone as quickly as it came.

Aph, no, I don't think the LACK of attention (not the same as an absence of energy) lessons the effect of the aspect, but rather it has a pulling effect, mainly drawing the energy of the aspect inward to the owner of the retro planet, not a reciprocated back-and-forth interchange of energy, as is experienced with aspects between non-retro planets. Not until the retro-planet owner is ready, and only they can determine that.

that's what I think.

PS: I don't have any retro-planets at all, but my sweetie has 4 of them, and my daughter has 3.

Hi Lioneye,
Good observation.

Jupiter Capricorn retrograde (3rd house)
Neptune Sagittarius retrograde (2nd house)

What lessons do you think I came to learn? With Jupiter I gather, I need to learn to control my eating habits? I tend to overeat? My weight is under control though. Do I need to control my sexual appetite too

Neptune is a mystery planet to me. What do I need to learn? Somewhere I read if Neptune is retrogade, this could be last incarnation on this earth. I don't remember where on Lindaland I must have read it. Appreciate if reader can throw some light.

I have Venus retrograde in Scorpio, on the MC, Conjunct my Sun and Uranus... I definitely have a problem with self-love, but, what else this could imply, I'm not entirely sure.

And, what's it mean when your NN is retrograde? Mine is retrograde in Virgo, in the 8th house (Saturn is also in Virgo, in the 8th)..... So, like, should I be worried, or what? And, what does this mean for my SN in Pisces, in the 2nd?

Whatever gets you through the night,

Not to worry about the retrograde Nodes.. thats the way they move for everyone

I found the following on this page http://www.skyscript.co.uk/eclipses.html. I hope it helps

The nodes themselves travel retrograde along the ecliptic. Each month the Moon crosses the ecliptic roughly 1½° west of its previous crossing point, so the nodal line, which joins the north and south nodes, regresses about 19° every year and makes a complete retrograde revolution of the ecliptic in just under 19 years. Twice each year, the Sun moves into conjunction with one of the nodes. The period of about 40 days around the conjunction is called an eclipse season, during which any new or full moon is likely to be an eclipse.

Oh, I also have planets going retrograde:
*Saturn in Virgo (7th House)
*Uranus in Scorpio (8th House)
*Neptune in Saggitarius (10th House)
*Pluto in Libra (7th House)
What lessons am I supposed to learn?...hmmm...something tells me I am not going to like the answer...
Oh, and I also have nodes going retrograde... Mean node (what is that??) in Virgo in the 7th House and True node in Virgo in the 7th House, too...
Too many things in the 7th House, right?? If I am right, 7th House has to do with relationships, marriage, etc doesn't it? Does it means that things are hard for me in this matter??
