I don't mean completly control which side you want to show, afterall you can control
everything around you

For example I slipped in the shower, and boy was i angry for the rest of the day.
No injury thought.

but i mean today i think i made some heads turn today at my workplace.

Normaly i'm grouchy and moody, i stoped by after school today. On the way i said to myself i think all try to be a lot nicer today and i got a card for one of the employees who's leaving in a few weeks.
and i complimented some people.

It was just intresting because i mean those's employees are use to seeing the grouchy part of me.

Any other gem's do the same

The last thought i don't think gemini are forgetfull, but rather it depends whether or not they care. I have 10 tasks listed in my PDA, and i have yet to do 2 of them because i don't care.

Hello,a gemini here. I gues my answer is "not really, no" as I find I don't have a lot of control over my dual personality, or rather, if I think I am effectively hiding a bad mood or feelings of hurt or unhappiness it turns out everybody can see anyway as I am so bad at hiding my true feelings.
I don't really get angry at anything anyway. And if I do it is only myself!

I'm not so sure that I agree we can control everything around us, gemini or otherwise. I believe that we can only control ourselves (to an extent, as I said I find it hard to control em
Axotion as I am sure a lot of people do), nothing else is ours to control.

I do totally agree, though, that I'm not all that forgetful either, I too find it hard to do things I don't care about. Which is why I am sat here replying to you and not getting on with my work hahaha.

WOW! I'm so glad i found this site.
Hey GEMS. I battle with my dual nature constantly. I find that my opposite side shows negative when I'm provoked and positive when I'm stimulated. So I dispell negativity in my thoughts, that helps some.
When I'm provoked I deal with it right then and there. I don't care what other people do with it,as long as I get it off me.

Hmm, I guess I should weigh here...LOL.

Gems suffer from feelings of self-doubt and self-loathing sometimes because they feel so mutable and easily influenced, like they have little control over themselves. But the main problem usually is that it's not that they're overwhelming influenced by exterior forces as that they're at odds with their emotions, which our cerebral Gem nature find very uncomfortable and foreign.

Self-doubting Gems impulsively think "I'm too sensitive, I can't control my emotions, I get upset too easily." Gems experience emotion as sharp, distruptive intrusions into their world of ideas, and the immediate reaction is to fight those emotions. This initial response to our emotions are often counterproductive and possibly self-destructive. The result is we become consumed with being at odds with our feelings, putting us in a sour mood and effecting our ability to act rationally and responsibly.

We can't contol what we feel, and we have to accept that. What we can control is our rational response to our emotions. This comes from what every mutable signs inherently lacks: discipline. Specifically for Gems, it's mental discipline. Even though we are essentially rational in nature, our rationality can get easily hijacked by our emotions, due to our impulsiveness. We have to learn, often with difficulty, that regardless to how we feel, we most think and act in a rational way. This ultimately means, being able to conduct ourselves in a civil manner despite our emotions and to do things we need to do even when we are not in the mood or we find it boring.

The thing is, because Gems are so rational, we tend not to think we need to attend to our emotions. At all. So most of us don't learn healthly outlets for our emotions like "normal" people do, so when they do unsettle us, they stay with us for an inordinate amount of time. Things like exercise, martial arts, journal writing, therapy, and creative pursuits help Gems work out their emotions and learn mental discipline so they can better focus rationally on what they need to do for the rest of the day. More mature Gems often can prusue more disciplined activities to balance out their emotion vs reason conflicts, like meditation and yoga. But of course, these kind of things take discipline, which many Gem fail to learn because they're too busy making excuses why they don't need to.

Gems excel at making excuses. The only sign better at this is Sag, our polarity. (This is why so many Sag and Gems are to some degree criminals.) This is our big fioble, our self-sabotaging weakness - we can talk and think ourselves out of anything, including the things we need to do the most for our own sake. But we have to stop and look at the consequences of making excuses all the time. We have the ability to be highly adaptive - the thing is how we apply that ability. Do we make excuses for behaving badly, childishly and irresponsibly, or do we apply it to overcoming our impulses and becoming more disciplined? We have that choice, even when we're whining and insisting we don't.

A disciplined Gem can "control" the side they show, which comes from being at ease with one's emotional responses. I'm not talking about someone like Jeffrey Dahmer, however, which is extreme yet insightful case. He could control what "face" others saw, largely due to his high intelligence and Gem adaptability, but he had no discipline over how his dealt with his emotions. He struggled constantly with his emotional impulses, to the point of desperation and mental illness. Not surprisingly, the "happiest" time in Dahmer's life and when he was the least pathological during his adult life, was when he was first in the military, because the discipline and physical activity gave him a way to balance out his emotions and inner conflict. Unfortunately, he couldn't stick with it, and made excuses to behave badly (mainly drinking excessively), which resulted in him being discharged and thus depriving himself of the biggest chance that his deeply conflicted Gem nature needed to restablize and become healthy again. While thankfully MOST Gem wouldn't become Jeffrey Dahmers, many DO deprive themselves of chances to become healthier, more mature people much in the same way, because they fail to stop and size up the consequences of their impulsive actions and excuse-making.

The difference between a mature, healthy Gem and very sick, pathological one is that the mature Gem sees his or her feeling as a normal part of themsleves and not a threat to their rational nature or sense of self-control. Very unhealthy Gems seem to have a "dark side," which is when a Gem's emotional side has been in conclict with their rational side for so long, every emotion they seem to show is ugly, distorted and excessive in some way. But a healthly Gem isn't afraid of what they feel, as they've learn how to live in harmony with it.

So in a nutshell, my follow Gems:

1. Emotions are not the enemy.
2. Discipline is a Gem's saving grace.
3. Don't make excuses.
4. Think about consequences.
5. Find constructive emotional outlets.
6. And remember: Gems may be borderline psychos, but we still RULE.

Odd as it sounds, I think it is in the nature of duality NOT to be divided...
What I mean is, there is an inherent relationship involved, and we fool ourselves whenever we imagine that we may percieve night as night, or day as day; What we are ultimately percieving is one thing; the relationship between night and day.

So, in answer to the question,
No, I don't think the Gemini chooses (or can choose) which side to exhibit; -
the one must unfailingly invoke/follow the other. The Gem evolves by learning to harmonize these "two", not by pressuming to isolate them, or to move from one to the other. They must follow their course.

The devil cannot cast out devils,
nor can an angel invite them.

Honestly, I don't really pay attention to my duality...it is always present and I guess the flow just flows...I have never felt the need to choose a side..

The fact that we can change feelings, thoughts, etc...so quickly is exciting to me. I know that my bad moods/feelings when I have them will not linger...I certainly would not 'choose' to be that way..(if I was aware that I was being negative).

In general, whatever sign you are, I think you can 'choose' to show whichever face you want to put forth that day...(ie-deciding to be especially aware of being happy and positive to others that day-usually invokes positive reactions and responses!)

GEMINIs are great people and we like not being so boring(read predictable!)!!

Yeah, that was a good rundown Gem Nymph - it made me realize that my Gemini influence on my 1st House may be one of the reasons why I've never felt comfortable with my strong Moon in Cancer feelings. My Moon always seem to screw things up! I thought this was mostly due to my Libra Sun, but never considered that Gemini struggle with emotions. Difficult to let merge and flow with the rest of us.

I'm on myspace.com a lot and one thing I do look for in people's profiles is their 'star' sign (hate to call it that when I know full well it's a sun sign but that's what myspace.com calls it. But I am aware that the sun is a big old star or something so I guess thats why people say it. I'm rambling aren't I.)and I've noticed that although the number of profiles belonging to fire sign people far outweigh all the others, a lot of the ones that make me go "woah, scary person" are actually gemini. Usually goth/vampiric/darkly alternative people. Which by the way is not a criticism cos I am totally drawn to that kind of person. and in case anybody is interested, Earth signs seem under-represented on Myspace.com too.
