Hi,Kind of a self-indulgent query here, but, no doubt, the universal implications are not far off.... I understand that the 5th rules self-expression... which would probably make it fairly pronounced, as houses go... I have nothing in my 5th, and nothing in the sign which governs it (in my chart); Gemini. Gemini does, however, span three houses; 4th, 5th, 6th.... and I have a MERC/Mars Conjunction in Sagitarius (which also spans three houses), in the 10th... The 5th is originally ruled by Leo, and I have a Jupiter in Leo, in the 7th... Also, a moon in the first (originally ruled by Aries), and a serious stellium in the 9th (originally Sag-ruled) - which, in my chart, is ruled by Libra, and begins with Pluto (ruler of my Sun/Venus/Uranus/MC)... So, a lot of action in the fire sign territories... Would this account for what-appears-to-be the strong Gemini influence in my chart (in me), despite my having no planets in Gemini? , Steve

Hmmmmm ... I don't think I'm qualified, but curious to know what others have to say. ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |

Take a look at the June/July issue of Mountain Astrologer. It has a really good article on the 5th house. Lanny

Hi! By Placidus, Gemini spans my 5th and 6th House. I don't have any planets in Gemini either. I don't have any planets in the 5th House. Someone looked at my chart and said that the influence was...that it makes me "intuitive"... Hope this helps. ------------------ merciful1 IP: Logged |

thanx lanny and merciful1.merciful1, I'm definitely intuitive as all hell (I tend to appear far wiser and more intelligent than I believe I actually am), but this is suggested by a number of strong placements and aspects in my chart... So its difficult to say just what the Gemini 5th contributes to this. Good to know, though, that my pride is not misplaced. , Isn't It Chironic (aka Heart-Shaped Cross, aka Jonah In The Whale, aka Stephen, aka Steve, aka Me) ------------------ "Judgment is the antithesis of understanding." - me IP: Logged |

HOld on a minute. I've never heard this type of theory on the 5th House. Maybe there is a regal quality to someone with a 5th House Sun, in a sense, putting a lifetime of Saturn's sterness in a sense, making others always expect more from you. When you feel you haven't lived up to them, you feel bad. But you are not quite privy to the higher self they see in you, so you're still wondering what happened. Anyone experience this? I have a 5th House Sun. IP: Logged |

I have a 5th House Sun, Leo then ruling my 10th with my conjunct Mars and NN and then MC in there...I don't think that I have a particularly regal air about me Self-centered, sure, but not regal. IP: Logged |

I know - but I'm using the word "regal" here as a sort of fill in the blanks yourself, whatever, "regal" is to you. But others may see even more, you know? Like an alchemy.Basically, do you ever feel like you are constantly trying to live up to other's ideals of you, or for you? I'm curious, becuase that would be the only negative part about the whole thing I'm struggling with. If it wasn't for my Sun in the 5th, I'd be even duller and more boring than I already am! Hee hee ... that's where the girl is ready to strut it when she's ready. IP: Logged |

The fifth house. When larning of Astrology more in depth, I always quite liked the fifth house. When learning of my own placements, and how they worked out in assessing who I am, and how sometimes it doesn't seem 'right'.. the Capricorn Moon.... the Scorpio Sun....(well.. okay.. THAT seems right...)Anyway.. the whole of my chart seemed right to me, when all things were taken into consideration.. house placement being important.....I am quite Leo. Having a Leo ascendant explains it.. also I have Saturn there to anchor it I suppose.. but having Sagittarius as my fifth house.... Sag, a fellow fire sign, in a fire ruled house... Venus in Sag, Neptune in Sag, in the fifth. It quite works for me. I looooooooooove to socialize, to shine, to flirt, to put myself out there. I love to be bold and funny and a little outrageous. My kids are sooooo adored by me. Sex? Oh my, I couldn't live without it. Seriously. It is hugely important to my everything. The fifth house works for me. It is a big part of my chart. I think the illusion of Neptune there , dancing with Venus... gives me a 'soulmate' pull.. I need my soulmate. But then.. I have met my Soulmate.. several, really.. not to diminish any relationship I have had... but I have already encountered plenty of people.. signs from the cosmos intact, an internal knowing... and yet still.... it is never 'good enough.' I know my journey isn't over, but I am enjoying the steps.IP: Logged |

Too much in the 5th can make you a bit lazy with exercise, and give you a tendency to worry about money. On the upside is the idealism and glamour. I see more responsible than regal. The strong 5th makes you want to give and give, so everyone has a part of you. It's "never enough" is something I hear from people with a lot in the 5th. What they mean is giving is never a question, they love to feel appreciated. If the 9th is about the meaning of life, the 5th talks about the search for love and happiness. Since it's a search, that's idealistic. Leos are generally the same about Love, as Saggies are about philosophy, they need to find the meaning of life through those they love. That's my experience. There is the risk of feeling burned out sometimes, though because there is no security or backup defense. The 5th is very much about idealism. My little brother has a stellium in the 5th, he is sometimes burned out by all the attention he puts out and gets back from the world. I don't think he knows he doesn't need to do that all the time. What rules your 5th is very important because it's a powerhouse of energy and emotion. If your Sun is in the 5th marriage is a priority. Yes Gloria, I know you will argue this one! Mine is ruled by Taurus and Aries which rule my Sun and Venus so it's hard to tell how it affects me. I feel the 5th very strongly in my work. Natasha Taurus

Oh no ... no argument here. It's like deep down we ALL want that perfect union with another - that will never change.I'm getting there. Ready for marriage if I can keep it simple. IP: Logged |

Heart Shaped Cross- what would your chart look like with Equal House placements? There one sign rules one house so it might shed more insight. In my experience fifth house has a lot of how we approach play (and self-expression and creativity is a part of that, and so is romance). I've also noticed that people who have a lot of things in the fifth house, especially if they have a Sun placement there, live for romance, and seem to find (or at least long for it) meanings to who they are through love affairs.

Thanx Nyx,Well, Surprisingly enough, according to the equal house system, Taurus rules my 5th... I am inclined to object here rather forcefully, despite the fact that Taurus is on of the signs - if not THE sign - I know the least about. I't ruled by Venus, though, right, so, that might explain the romanticism you speak of, which is definitely characteristic of yours truly... And I do over-indulge; my "play" consists largely of what-some-are-wont-to-call "experimentation... still, i relate much more to the Gemini influence. My Chiron is in Taurus, though (4th). One interesting thing about the equal house chart, is, I've got my NN at the begining of the 9th.... this makes sense to me. Anyway, gotta run. peace, love, enantiodromia, H.S.C. Cheers for the reply. Without looking at your actual chart I can't really have proper insight, but other things which might account for a Geminian influence - an accent on the third house, and aspects to Mercury as well of course as would any personal planets in Gemini. What do you see as the dominant Geminian traits in you? Edited to Add: In my way of looking at it, although the empty houses in the chart are just as important and can offer a great deal of clues about a person/their life - the accent would be elsewhere. And if you've got a stellium in the 9th say, then I expect the accent, the dominant theme in your chart/life would not be on play/creativity so much as say learning, and seeking understanding and seeing a bigger picture as well as probably a great curiosity about foreign things/travel.
