Hi Ariestiger,
I read a post by you a while ago regarding living in a rural area? I am not sure on which forum now, but I wanted to respond. You had mentioned you were thinking of a change, and your husband an Aqua, was considering a new job.

My thoughts on this now, are that I have lived in both a rural area and the city in the past year. It's been a year of many changes, but I would have to go with the city. The reason is that when it's freezing cold, instead of worrying about having to drive 30-40 minutes, I can walk and within 10 minutes of my home I can buy sewing supplies, office supplies, go to radio shack, buy art supplies, get groceries, go to a pharmacy and get take out or delivery that is really good.

So, living in the country and being dependent on a car, and having to really know your neighbours who become almost like family is not enough for me. I recommend a more urban atmosphere for you, with your Aries.

I have Mars in the 1st in Sag, and Pluto rules my 10th house, My moon is in the 8th, and my Venus is in Aries, so I think I have just too many mars/pluto influences to sit in the country and worry about stolen cows, plus there are no people.

I was in church when I heard a sermon, that went, save us from self reliance, let us be grateful for our community. I thought of that and I was grateful for my community, but I couldn't be in the sticks.

Good Luck to you,
Natasha

Hi there Natasha,
I like being in the country from the quietness/no-pollution point of view, plus the scenery and nature here is fantastic and we have a relatively mild climate (for Britain). We have houses either side of us but only on one side of the road, and we are about a quarter of a mile from the sea. I love where we are, it's the opportunities that seem to be so limited. Many people who move down here are retired and I think most of their get-up-and-go has got up and left, their taste is maybe a little middle-of-the road for some of the things that I would like to offer - though I am trying to get custom from further afield through my website - which I've just set up :-)
Mr. Aqua's potential employers are still keeping him hanging in the balance re: the job offer, but if he WERE to get the job, he wouldn't move from the area. That was one of the reasons why he thought he probably had a chance of a training contract with that particular company, as they were looking for someone who wasn't going to up and leave the moment they'd trained them. If he doesn't get the job we will have to think again, but I know he absolutely WON'T move to an urban environment. I wouldn't mind giving it a go, as I've always lived in small towns/villages, but I can't see Mr. Aqua doing the same. So I can see that I am going to have to think really seriously about this one. Time and time again I hear "you're in the wrong area", so, maybe now that I have had a stint in rural areas, it is time for a change...
Thank you for thinking of me.

Aren't most Aquarian guys more into the "city" profile?

The funny thing with me, I'm a Libra, where I was born and in childhood, it was like the country, all my neighbors knew each other, no traffic, lots of land, riding horseback all the time.

Then it turned into a cosmopolitan city, and I learned the ways of the city ninja.

Now I'm in an in-between place, like a very mellow city with country in some places. Yet, I want to be where there are NO people, NO cars now.

Needless to say, a Libra in love will still be happy with her love anywhere in the world, but individually, I want to live on a deserted island.

I think it's more having to do with my Scorpio influences in my 6th House. I've always needed simplicity in my life.

Ariestiger, I know what it's like trying to sell in a rural market, because I am an artist and I had to move. It's a good idea to live no more than 2 hours driving time away from a major city, if it's an easy drive.

The reality of the country was very different for me, mainly because my ex could never help physically because he had a weight problem and two back operations because of it.

I am surrounded by mountains and lakes, if someone wants to drive through the country it's desolate. Naturally, most of the people settle in a few cities, so I had to accept that. It helps if you like the city:> There's no solution, just constantly working different territories. I tried Boston, other cities, too expensive, too little income.

Yin, I am glad you can relate, there are so many emotional benefits to city living.
I think your Pluto in the 7th likes movement.
You do have that aspect right? I have noticed a lot of city dwellers have Pluto/7th.

Gloria, Libras love solitude to ruminate on things without getting emotional.

I always paint and draw by myself.

But I don't like to live with someone in the country practically alone, and then be left alone frequently. It makes me feel left out. To be left alone when the weather is wild, is scary.
My Aqua friend said his ex wife left him because he left her alone a lot. I could relate to her.

I have been left alone with no car, and not knowing, not being able to reach neighbours, it makes me feel like I'm imprisoned. When you are far up in the mountains, or the there is too much ice, there is no place to go to if the electric goes out. I guess that's my biggest fear. This happened once with my ex where he left for 3 days because he needed time to himself, he thought I was a basket case when he got back. I didn't want to leave in case he came back, or called.

I have this terrible fear of being abandoned in bad weather, must be a childhood thing. I remember freezing a lot, and being sick every year.

Ireland has the most terrific weather, no snow, just rain and beautiful most of the year. Just knowing how small the island is, made me feel secure, I could drive across the country in two or three days, everyone knows where everything is, everything is so close together, you can walk everywhere, and so friendly.

I can't wait to go back, it was the country but I always felt the city.

Canada in general is a lot safer than most parts of New England, USA, that is why I like it, and there is a lot of work for artists around Montreal and the East Coast. Still I am not happy with the snow, I would be happier in the Maritimes, on the coast I think but it's very depressing in winter due to the fact that there are no people. I am still trying to figure that one out, if I could make a living there, I would move there, but I think it will happen gradually, maybe buy a gallery when I can.

So I think when you are stuck with no people for a long time, it's just too hard to go back. I don't want to have another conversation in subzero weather outdoors about a cow stuck in the mud because I think it's depressing that there are cows outdoors in that weather at all. I've actually stopped my car and got out and helped people push their cows, and help them round up their horses.

I can't look at cows anymore, or eat beef.

I fantasize a lot about moving South, but I don't know, I think it's still a fantasy.

Since I'm a native Floridian, I'm more used to living around oceans, flat land and soft hills, and the last time I went to California to visit my cousins, stayed at the same cool house I always had, but when I went to her back yard, I suddenly felt smothered by the mountains, and I became very claustrophobic. I had to turn away or start hyperventilating.

Hills with lots of green vegetation, right by the quiet beach would be perfect. A hammock, a row boat and fishing line. I'm set.

I can't be anywhere where I can't see the sea. I think it must be all that Water in my chart. I can understand about mountainous areas being slightly scary and claustrophobic.
I live about 1 1/2 hours' drive from a major city in England, but I think that if anyone is serious about becoming successful they make their base in London. London and the surrounding counties are notoriously expensive. There are a ton of artists here in the South West(ten a penny), but how much work they generate for themselves is anybody's guess.
I've always fancied moving somewhere with less inclement weather. Can anyone give me the rundown on the sunny side of California?
Oh - and Natasha - I know all about pushing cows, too. Well, chasing, rather than pushing. Farmers who don't maintain their fences, that kind of thing. Then you've got village small talk, the Women's Institute...but then again, you get glimpses of rare orchids or strange fungi. I was up in the woods today collecting fungi for a botanical painting class I teach and thoroughly enjoying myself. But I like all that sort of stuff.
I've worked really hard promoting myself, but I still always find myself coming to the realisation that I still have a long way to go.
Can I ultimately be successful? I ask myself. Like an Aries, yes, I do believe I can. Always.
