Hey everyone. I just read something about an Horary Chart. Does anyone know what they are, and what purpose they serve? Sorry to keep asking so many questions, I just haven't heard of this chart...

Does anyone here use it? And if so then for what purpose?

Hi Raleigh,

Its good that your asking questions, so please don't ever apologize for it.

Okay, from what I understand Horary is predictive astrology..........how it works, I'm not sure, but I do have a few books on the subject. I recently read that learning Horary astrology is actually easier, which seemed odd to me at the time.

I may be WAY off base, as I'm a newbie, hopefully more Knowledgeable peeps will reply.

Have you (or anyone here) ever had one of those charts done, and were they accurate?

dear raleigh,

i recently experimented with horary charts, and was pleased with my results. i had posted a question to the 'soul unions' group about horary charts and then did some research, so i posted my findings there. the link to the thread is:

hope that helps!

oh, incidentally, i forgot to add the basic def. of a horary chart, in case you don't know: it's a chart that you cast for the exact moment you ask a question like "Will I get the job?" or "Will I marry so-and-so?" or "Where did I leave my #@*! checkbook?", the principle behind this branch of astrology being that when a question is truly asked, there is a connection between the individual asking the question (the querent) and the universe.

in my case, i asked about whether i'd marry my boyfriend or not (it's on the table but we haven't discussed the issue in detail). i do believe in free will, but i also believe astrology can show/teach us so many things, and so i gave it a shot.

this new book i picked up at the library said something pretty interesting about fate vs. free will. it said: we do have absolute free will; however, we almost never choose to use it. this is why predictive astrology works, and this is also why natal astrology has evolved into such a powerful tool for self-discovery, understanding, healing, and transformation. since everyone is pretty much running around on autopilot most of the time, these charts show how the energy of the universe is flowing at the time, and what the most probable outcome will be if we simply surrender to the tide of events. the person asking the question, though, has absolute free will and can significantly impact the eventual outcome by changing his or her individual role in the events.

anyway, there you have it. if you want to try one, just record the time and date that you let a question you have enter your mind, and use astro.com to cast an event chart.

All astrological charts if done correctly are accurate.
For me Horary Charts are difficult (but not impossible) There are rules to follow. This is advanced Astrology and you really should learn the basics first, its like looking in a medical dictionary and finding that your symptoms apply to a dreaded disese when its actually a common cold.
I prefere Diurnal charts (which are similar) and easier to apply to your natal and current transits.
If your serious about Horary Charts you will need "The Rulership Book" by Rex E Bills
Good Luck

Yup ... Horary is VERY difficult. At the bookstore the other day, I picked up Dane Rudyar's book about it, and it makes you go crosseyed. You almost have to be really left-brained to get it, and then you have to sort of switch to right-brain to understand it.

There are other "predictive" methods, I'm still learning about. Progression Charts, Solar Arc, Solar Return - that's something I pick up little by little. But someone may want to do one for you here if you ask.

PS: I believe we have free-will up to a point. You cannot overrule God's laws already in place.
