Why don't either of you have a go at writing a book on astrology? I'm just thinking - you each have great communicating styles here...and great anecdotes... Okay, the bets are on. Who's going to be published first? IP: Logged |

Well, I'm already "published" to a degree, and I've been thinking about doing something with astrology. But I'm going through an entire living arrangement change right now, and when I get to that peaceful place, I'll know, I'll continue my work. I've got at least 5 or 6 books in me. Not all will use my real name.Thank you for that. One of the nicest things anyone's ever said! ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |

Thanks! You are very nice, now go find me a really easy going publisher in Canada or the US who is accepting new writers. If you haven't been published before, it's a little tough but I have thought of self publishing. First though I have to win a grant for my art, then writing.I do write poetry, but none accepted for payment so far. I think my writing talents will be used for applying for grant money to open a gallery, where I plan to offer spoken word nights, exhibitions, and a coffeehouse/bar at night. My other secret love is a good screenplay. I am convinced the reason new novelists aren't being published is because publishers are really looking for screenplays. I am currently writing a play about three couples, and their abusive love relationships. It's very raw and people find it hard to read. In one scene two men who are lovers play out a scene where one slaps the other, in the same arguement every weekend. It's intimate and hard to watch, but not patronizing. I think this town needs a venue for poetry, even if you write, you have to get read, noticed. Even if I got published who would know me? So I figure owning my own place where you can hear my poetry and buy the books is self centered but the only way to get on the shelf. Of course I love astrology, but publishers for astrology related books are very pop oriented and I am very opinionated, I would have better luck I am told publishing lesbian erotica. That I could get published at right away. But if you want to chip in, it's around $5K for self publishing, you get to be on amazon.com. and if you sell a certain amount into regular bookstores. I am always open to ideas, I am willing to share credit, Or if you want to submit poetry or artwork when my gallery is opened, I would welcome that. How 'bout the moon, natasha? I thought the moon was statistically strongest in the charts of writers.btw, after reading your post, I thought maybe you'd appreciate this quote as much as I do: "The man is only half himself, the other half is his expression." - Ralph Waldo Emerson (from his essay The Poet) ------------------ "Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground." - Rumi IP: Logged |

I was thinking it would be cool to write the influences that IN MY ESTIMATION would contribute to being a writer, the only thing I've ever known for sure about my life.To me - * Sun in Libra, as Libra rules books and teaching. Also good in journalism. * Moon in my 3rd House - communicating feelings. Also having a Sun in Air, Moon in Water makes us go back and think about how we felt. Moon in Cancer also gives one a good memory of past situations. * Mercury in Scorpio - Tends towards research and reaching towards the unseen. * MC in Aquarius - to do something important, but not in a regular 9 to 5 way. * Sun Trine MC * Moon Sextile Asc * Mercury Conjunct both Mars & Neptune That's about it I guess ... ... hee hee ... Hi Natasha, Publishers like to see a "new angle" on things. You have an individual voice which I think could be marketed well. At the same time, there NEEDS to be some sort of pop orientation, something that makes people really want to read it. I like the way you give advice on Lindaland, for example. Maybe you could write some sort of diary based around your anecdotes...snapshots, almost like mini-stories, maybe with an astrology slant put on them...I'm thinking of the Scorpio you mentioned, whose Aqua girlfriend shot him in the eye with a BB gun...humorous anecdotes about starsigns that capture their essence...Just throwing ideas around here.
