In my reading today I ran across this site: http://www.novareinna.com/ and thought it was pretty neat reading the physical characteristics. However, when I read mine, and it split up Virgos into decantes, the first decante read to have a tendency towards being ambidextrous or lefthanded. I'm a 2nd decante who is ambidextrous. I also know lefthandedness is genetic, however I couldn't resist asking if anyone has read any info on lefthandedness and astrology? IP: Logged |

Where in this site did you find that info? I am lefthanded and it struck me as something I'd be interested in reading, but I cant seem to find anything in that site on it (unless I havent looked far enough into it) Ang- IP: Logged |

the site is unfortunately a work in progress and i just realized there's not a lot of info about a lot of the signs  but I usually go here since it's in my links this way: http://www.novareinna.com/constellation/index.html
then I scroll down and I usually choose Virgo cuz that's me, but they also have Taurus, Aries, Gemini, Leo and Cancer. Once you click on one of the signs, you have to scroll quite a bit until there's a bunch of um...they're like ovals. There's one that says "The Decans" on it, click on that one.  I'm not sure how many of them say anything about lefthandedness though, I just happened to see that one in the Virgo decante. I just started looking for other info but it's not easy to find. All I know is both ambi and lefthandedness is often associated with the Mercurial signs, Virgo and Gemini (I'm ambi byt the way - woohoo!). It is thought that being the polarity of these two signs, that ambi- and lefthandedness occurred often in Sags and Pisces too (this has been my experience).Aquas are also thought to have a tendency toward lefthandedness, but not ambidexterity. And in fact I've know several lefthanded Aquas, althogh there seems a tendency for *Mercury in Pisces* among leftie Aquas.  Also I'm come across Cancers with *Mercury in Gemini* that were lefties too. I suspect that if a leftie doesn't have a mutable sign as a Sun, you may need to look at their Mercury as well - they may have a mutable placement there. IP: Logged |

We should start a list of famous lefties and see if this mutable thing is common to them. These are the ones coming to mind presently: Paul McCartney - Gemini Sun, not sure about his Merc Kurt Cobain - Pisces Sun and Mercury, Virgo ASC Henry Rollins - Aqua Sun with Pisces Mercury Milla Jovovich (she claims to be ambi) - Sag sun with Gem moon and Sag Mercury Jimi Hendrix - Sag sun and Mercury err.... There's also Ringo Starr who's a leftie, but all I know is that he's a Leo, I think. I'll have to look that up. And other lefties you guys can think of? IP: Logged |

hmm, my Mercury is in Libra...My gramps is a lefty Aquarius. I don't have any other info on him though I also have a Cancerian friend who is a lefty, and his Mercury is in Gemini. I have no clue about his Asc, and I suspect his moon is Capricorn rather than Aquarius (crazy ephemeris chart!). He has a bit of Gemini elsewhere as well: Mars, Chiron, and true node. IP: Logged |

I have a Cancer friend (Cancer moon/Pisces asc.) that's a leftie, w/ Merc. in Gemini!She's the only leftie I know off the top of my head. Good call GN!! IP: Logged |

angel of hope - my dad is lefthanded and a cappy sun, scorpio moon. he "trained" himself to be righthanded. he recently got his right arm opperated on and "trained" his left arm back. he goes pistal shooting for a hobby and when you do that your arm must be completely still. talk about a person with drive! i wonder if alot of lefthanded cappies train themselves to be right handed. it just seems to go along with the "i need to do everything proper, right, and conservative" view. have you ever tried to? Me (Pisces) and 2 of my 3 brothers are left-handed (Cancer and Aquarius). Tho i would consider myself almost ambi, as i bat right handed and use the calculator with my right while writing away with my left. lol The inherited quality of that must go WAY back as neither of the parents, nor the 4 grandparents were lefties. OK, I did find another (in)famous leftie, although it's not widely known his is: Eminem. I don't have his ASC, but none of his personal planets are in mutable signs (birth date October 17, 1974 - his persoanl planets are in either Libra or Scorpio, with Mercury is Scorpio). HOWEVER, his Sun is in the *Gemini* decan of Libra, indicated increased Mercurial influence. So maybe, like the info that VTT found, decan can indicate possible lefthandedness. I personally haven't known any leftie Libras, that I'm aware of.Ringo Starr, it turns out, is a Cancer (Scorpio decan) with moon and Mercury in Leo, but also has *Venus in Gemini*. That's interesting. I 've never heard of Venus indicating lefthandedness, although it does effect greatly how our brain works, like Mercury - and how our brain works determines our handedness. Also, as Mercury tends to influence more the left brain function (analysis, info gathering, understanding symbols and systems, etc.), Venus greatly influences the *right* brain (creativity, emotions, etc.), and lefthandedness is a manfestation of dominant right brain function, so hey. angel_of_love, I don't know what that means re: your leftieness! Sorry. Do you have *any* mutable signs, or is your Sun in third decan of Cap (Jan 11-19)? Niki - leftie/ambiness doesn't seem to run in my family either. I'm an oddball - but I also am the only one in my immediate family that has such varied mutable influence (Gem Sun, Merc, Venus, with Pis moon, Virgo ASC and Sag Neptune singleton). My mom has a lot of Gem, and my Dad's Libra with Sag moon, but both are righthanded. So the Pisces influence stands out to me - I'm the only one that has significant Pisces (or water, for that matter). The only other ambi I know in my family is a deceased uncle that was a Pisces Sun. My grandfather (that uncle's father) was also a Pisces, but I do not know if he was leftie or rightie, as he died when my mom was very young and she doesn't know much about him. IP: Logged |

Im a libra with sag moon, virgo asc
I have mercury in libra in conjunction with pluto and sun.
Im ambi,(depending on what im doing Im used to a certain hand either left of right?)

ok......started taking an astrology course, 1st class yesterday (amazing, soooo excited) anyways...the instructor mentioned that through the years she has noticed quite a few left hand persons being Geminis.............(there ya go GN, just as you stated) ;-)IP: Logged |

libra78, I have Merc in Libra too I have quite a bit of Libra, Sag, Scorpio, Virgo and Taurus in my chart but I'm missing from all the other signs. (Unless you count my Cancerian True Node). No Gemini or Aquarius for leftyness! (Cappy Decan of Virgo)IP: Logged |

Puppyblew - You know I remember when I was younger trying to teach my self to write Right handed. Then I gave up. I do however, do almost everything with my right hand except writting and putting on my make-up. oh and shooting, tried to shoot right handed, but didnt have that steady arm. All my friends would, look at my stance and say, "ahh dont you wanna stand the other way" I'd say no. Then it was "Oh yeah, thats right, shes a leftie." So maybe I would be considered Ambi, except fo the fact that I only write with my left hand. My grandmother is Ambi...she was a leftie till the schools forced her to write with her right hand. And you'll see her switch back and forth, although she's not a cappy, shes and Aries. Gemini Nymph - You know I'd have to look at my chart on that one (its at home and Im at work) I know I have mutables "somewhere in my chart" as far as decanates, no ... my DOB is Jan 2. Everyone - I was watching something on TV (history channel) and do you know why left handedness was looked down upon. Because back in the day, they didnt have toilet paper, they would use magazines and newspaper and such. When before all this, they were taught to us their left hand, and from what this show was saying, thats why we shake/greet with our right hand..... the left was considered unsanitary. Eeeewwwuh! What a great thread! I've been wondering about astrological indicators of southpaw-ness for a while.OK, no one in my family is famous, so I apologize if I'm out a little off-topic. I have only three first cousins. All of us are left-handed. None of our parents are, and neither were our mutual set of grandparents. However, grandparents, both Virgos!
Parents: one Taurus partnered with Cap, three Pisces all partnered with Cancers. The four of us: **Scorpio Sun, Sag Moon, Cap ASC, Sag Merc (c. Moon).
**Pisces Sun, Taurus Moon, Cancer ASC, Pisces Merc.
**Pisces Sun, Sag Moon, Cancer ASC, Pisces Merc.
**Cancer Sun, Taurus Moon, Scorp ASC, Cancer Merc. Make anything of that, astrologically? Probably not; more likely a recessive gene? There are no other lefties in our extended family. --qjw P.S.
