In my quest to find my true rising sign in the midst of all the confusion between birth time and true time determination I have endevoured to seek out the truth myself.Where I was born the town itself is so rural and so locked away from civilisation that they don't keep records of people born there nevermind the time of birth.Moms memory has proved to be unreliable and the profiles I have read on each ascendent sign have left me feeling confused and hopeless as I identify secretly with each one.So I have decided to conduct an experiment and I want as many people to take part in it.It is best that the people who do decide to take part be familiar with their rising sign so that I can ascertain that this experiment has proved to be successful,OK so here goes.1. I need for you to write down every person in your life that you have made a special bond with, be it lover, friend, family or a complete stranger. These are the type of people you feel most comfortable with, those whom you can call at 7:00 am and talk until late at night about senseless things and yet never get bored.Minimum 20 maximum 40 2.You need to get each persons sun sign as well as their moon sign. 3.List each sign and element ie air, water, earth, fire etc as well as wether they are cardinal, fixed, mutable etc.Do this for both the sun sign and the moon sign. 4.Count how many times each sign recurs, its element and wether its cardinal fixed or mutable.Do this separately for the moon sign and the sun sign. 5.The sign that seems to appear the most, its element and wether it is fixed, mutable or cardinal according to both your sun sign and moon sign together is your rising sign. Example: Name: Relation Sun Sign Moon Sign Peter friend Leo Cap Jane Girlfriend Sag aquarius Paul friend Sag gemini Raul friend gemini aquarius Elliot friend Aquarius pisces Billy friend cancer aquarius Mom sag taurus Dad cancer gemini Sis Gemini gemini Sun sign: Leo FIRE FIXED 1 Sag fire mutable 3 Cancer water cardinal 2 Gemini air mutable 2 aquarius air fixed 1 Moon sign: Cap earth cardinal 1 Aquarius air fixed 3 Pisces water mutable 1 gemini air mutable 2 therefore: sun and moon sign signs cardinal: 3 signs mutable: 9 signs fixed: 4 signs of fire: 3 signs of air: 4 signs of water: 2 signs of earh: 1 most sign is mutable with 8 and element is air therefore your rising sign is in GEMINI. Please give me your feedback as I need to know wther I am accurate or way off! IP: Logged |

Looks complicated... i'd love to help but 3 of the people Im most closest too dont know their birth times (and subsequently moons and rising signs). Even my parents dont know their exact dates/times. Quite frustrating for me as a budding astro geek, but most people i know aren't into it, or bothered enough to find out. How is this going to help you find your rising sign? IP: Logged |

well i gave it a shot, i really did and it came up to an overwhelminlgy earth/fixed answer which however is far from the truth and in fact my rising is a cardinal air. i've been told by others here about rectification of a chart, have you heard of this? it should help you in your quest. Hey, Gert *waves*What are the two possible risings signs that you're stuck between? Look at your family, and their big 3 (sun, moon rising). I have found it to be the case that your rising sign is often conj or oppose the several of the big 3 of people's family members, especially those closest to you. For instance... Me - Sagattarius Ascendant....connects to Mom > Saggitarius sun (conj my asc. almost to the degree) Sister 1. > Gemini moon & rising (oppose my asc. within 5 deg orb) Sister 2. > Gemini Sun, (oppose my asc. within 3 degree orb) I've also found it's quite common for siblings to have opposing ascendants, thus activating each other's 7th houses. And this makes sense because, in reality, we form very first non-parental one on one relationships with our siblings, so those relationships often set our expectations of other relationships outside of the family home, when we start to move out into the world. It may not be just conjuctions and oppositiosn, although they seem to be most common, but it can be squares too, and to a lesser degree, sextiles. So, study the primal triads of the rest of your family. It may help you to figure your ascendant out. Hope this has helped you. IP: Logged |

I found the experiment to be way off. I know that my rising is taurus. In looking at your experiment, in order for my rising sign to be correct I would need to be affected by a rather big number people bearing earth sunsigns. However, I actually attract a fairly large number of all the other 3 signs, and except for Taurus which I only possess 2 friends bearing that sign, I don't tend to get along with Virgos at all, and Capricorns don't find friendship in me.Sorry that kind of blows the experiment out of the water, I wish I could help, as I have some rising signs to find out for my family members. Definitely far from an easy task :-/ IP: Logged |

I can tell you off the top of my head, those closest to me have a lot of Libra in prominent places in their charts... My Aunt... Scorp with Libra rising, several of my good friends are Librans, my father's wife is a double Libra and we are great friends, my very best friend is a Libra sun and moon... And my rising sign is Libra, go figure.IP: Logged |

As far as I can see from my experience, rising signs are mainly due to coincidence or chance. The people I associate with all seem to have a variety of rising signs - from all elements, and it doesn't matter whether they are Cardinal, Fixed or Mutable. So I think it's probably a non-determinable thing.IP: Logged |

Oh, and one more thing. I don't really attract Sagittarians at all, although I do know a couple, but more by chance than anything. What IS rather interesting, though, is that the ruler of Sag, Jupiter, is in Virgo in my chart, and I seem to be drawn to Virgos like a moth to a flame and vise versa. So, maybe it would be more telling to look at the signs of the two possible chart rulers, and assess whethor or not you seem to have a significant number of one or the other of those people in your life. As you may or may not know, the ruler of your ascendant is considered the ruler of your entire chart. Sort of the 'master of ceremonies', and all other planets are said to take their direction from that planet. IP: Logged |

So that would mean that the planet Venus is my ruler, moreso that Uranus/Saturn?It kind of makes sense, when I think about it, everything I do, say, think has a lacquer of Libran/Venusian balance to it. Hmmm. Every planetary position has an outer shell that could be described that way, an air of grace, symmetry, tactfulness I guess. Interesting concept. IP: Logged |

Thanks to all who participated.I didn't realise that finding ones ascendant sign could prove to be so complicated! Well I guess its back to the drawing. Thanks again I'll take what each one has said in mind when I do another experiment later on.IP: Logged | |
