I was just thinking about my two angelic little nephews whom I see maybe once a year at Christmas time.

When I first met them, the Cancerian was 2 years old and the Libran was 4. The Cancerian didn't speak much, he knew words like "help" and "Mummy" and he'd pretend to be a scary ghost - sooo cute! The Libran spoke quite well, with a little pom accent (they were brought up in England).

The next time I saw them, the blue saucer-eyed Cancerian was 4, and the Libran 6. He had already begun school.
I asked them if they remembered me. The Cancerian shyly nodded, with his wide cheeky little smile. The Libran said bluntly, "No, I don't remember you", but still flashed me a dazzling smile.

I found it quite curious, seeing as the Cancerian was so young he could barely speak when he saw me previously, yet he remembered me. I instantly put it down to the notorious Cancerian memory.. compared with that of a blustery air sign... !!

I remember Linda saying that Cancerians and Taureans had the best memories, followed by Scorpio. And she spoke of Aquarians having terrible memories. But that is all I have ever found really... I am interested to know, based on others experiences and knowledge, which signs typically have good or not so good memories?

Cancer hands down - especially a Moon in Cancer like me, and a few others here. It's both a blessing and curse. Getting past something difficult while having a "photographic memory" when it comes to feelings, is HELLLLL sometimes.

Me too Astro Junkie! When's your B day?
I'm going to be one of those old folks who sits around and tells stories to anyone who will listen. As a matter of fact my son can't get enough! He can't believe I was "bad" when I was young! Unlike most of the descriptions of my sign, I'm not going to be rich when I tell them.

It depends about what is being remembered.

Aquas and Gems are excellant at remembering data, symbols and information, but b-days, anniversaries or that they promised five minutes ago to call you later than evening....forget it. As my brother once griped about me "You can remember every bit of minutia you heard on the Discovery channel, but you can't remember a converstion we had last week." LOL. I have photographic memeory for things like maps and charts, but have trouble recalling people's names. We have object-oriented memory, not people-oriented. Libras have the worst memory of the air signs, easily.

Virgos usually have good memory for systems and processes, as they tend to retain a lot of intricate details, which is why they're good at remembering every little thing you've ever done that annoyed them when a fight breaks out.

Cancer does have very good long-term memory, normally, but it's also highly subjective, meaning it get infused with their personal emotional response, which is usually intense. Which means if they remember something good, it's wonderful. If's they remember something bad, it's traumatic. Capricorn, Cancer's polarity, has a pretty good memory too, but tends to recall things in over-simplified terms, because they tend to think only the basic really matter in every situation.

Pisces tend to have excellant musical memory. Taurus tend to have good tactile and olfactory memory. I once knew a guy with heavy Taurus influence, and he could remember the smell of nearly any popular perfume. We'd be walking through a crowd,a ndhe's suddenly go, "OMG, *someone's* wwearing Tuscany!" or something. It was funny, cos I have horrible olfactory memory and could never pick up on what he was smelling.

Among the fire signs, Leo tends to have the better memory - they actually have some of the best short-term memory and delayed recall going around, because they are so involved with the moment. Leos are often good at recalling entire conversations from the previous day or so.

I must admit, my memory is excellent. (Gemini) I remember virtually everything in detail. Sometimes I say I dont remember something when I really do. The only thing I have real trouble remembering is lists. Like grocery lists or things I need to get done or things I want to talk about to someone. I need to write these things down and check them off as I go. And yes, it is both a blessing and a curse. It's easy to hold grudges when you can remember vividly every detail of something painful.

I have to concurr with Gemini Nymph... I can remember lots of weird little details and facts... but something told to me five minutes ago about our plans tonight? PFFTTT. I'm apt to forget things like that. I'm very absent-minded, generally.

haha Gem! What you said about Virgo's memories is so true for me . I never forget a thing someone has said or done to me that has made me mad.

I also have a really really good photographic memory. Not so good remember names of people. Good with phone numbers unless they have a 6 or a 9 in them. I can't remember full conversations or movie quotes at all, just bits and pieces of things.

I have always been told I had a good memory, even though I am a Libra. I can remember things from as early as when I was 4. I also remember faces, but am crappy with names, if I meet more than one person at a time.
What aspects contribute to one's memory?

LOL Gemini Nymph...I'm a Virgo and I'm guilty of doing that very thing!

I can remember tons of things from years and even decades past. But yet sometimes I forget where I put something that very day. Oy! I chalk it up to my highly selective Mercury in Virgo brain.

Well, us Scorps are usually tarnished with the "holding a grudge memory" brush. We don't forget things because one day we will want to exact a revenge.

But seriously, I have an excellent memory. Particularly for faces. I can remember where I have met people and other circumstances surrounding it. Like for example:

Last year, when I met my son's kindergarten assistant, I took one look at her and said, did you used to play basketball in Melbourne. She looked at me quizzingly and said yes. I used to play against her and I remembered not only her but a whole stack of other members in her team and the colour of their uniforms and their numbers etc. She was amazed as this was going back at least fifteen years.

Coincidentally (chuckle, chuckle), I was on the panel that appointed the kindergarten teacher (the lady she assisted) and after the interview I said to this interviewee, did you used to live on such a such a road? And I got the quizzing look again (squinted look through one closed eye). Yes, why? And I told her that I used to live next door to her. She remembered my ex but not so much me (cos I spent a lot of time at work )

So, it pays to have a good memory, you never know when you are going to bump into somebody that you know. Also means that you can't play up much too .

I have a moon in Taurus and my sense of smell is acute and I can remember feelings and situations from a particular scent.

Working with different people, I pick up their perfumes and body smells (which isn't always so great) but the strangest thing is picking up changing scents from close family/friends bodies.

Like pheremones or how they say dogs can sense fear because it is an odor, I can detect subtle changes in my bf's smell depending on how he's feeling (or anybody else I'm close with on a regular basis.)

My cats each have their own particular smell, which comes in handy when I'm trying to figure out who's lying on my face in the morning. But, having a keen sense of smell makes me paranoid about the way I smell, or my house . . . etc.

virgotaurus -

It's just a 69

sassy -

You know how everyone dreads growing old, like, you're worried about what starts to happen to you physically, and you have no control (except lots of skin lotion & sunblock) ...

Well, there's a switch off. I lose a little of this as I grow old, and I gain the beautiful power of having selective amnesia. And you're like, HEY, this is cool!

Ignorance can be bliss.

Titiana, my little boy is a 2 year old Cancerian, so funny, it sounded like you
were describing him!
His memory is great, seeing that the once
every few months his dad "decides" to visit
he always remembers him and he does the
same little quips (dances, crazy words and
stuff) that they shared on the previous visit.

I'm a Leo sun/Cancer moon.
The Cancer moon . . . OH BROTHER!!
Like I read from a previous post,
it's a gift and a curse. I can be hurt
by practically anything.

LOL AJ...Ignorance can be bliss indeed.

...Sometimes I do wish that I could turn off the part of my brain that retains all the negative, crappy stuff and only have happy, shiny thoughts.

Well I am a Sun/Moon Cappy with rising Taurus and i have a very good memory for conversations, facts, flight details, phone numbers... but as someone said earlier with forgetting stuff for lists... i'm the same. I can go online and forget what I was supposed to do so I just end up checking my mail and going on lindaland haha. so these days, i write a list of things to do.

sassygrrl i sooo agree with you on wishing i were able to turn all negative thoughts off in my brain! they cause more trouble than they are worth.
marcia - how i'd love to have an angelic little cancerian boy when i become a mother!
if you consider moon in cancer to be both a curse and a blessing, i tend to think that moon in capricorn is more of a curse! yes i am stable and loving and loyal... but... my boy left for Paris a few hours ago, and I kept my composure (somewhat) at the airport, but now I just keep randomly bursting into tears. I love him and I can't bear the thought of not having him around for 11 days. That's right 11 days only, i know it could be worse - how lucky am i! but alas, i still sob...

I am a cancer and I think I have a pretty good long term memory. I can remember silly little details like what I wore to my the movies 10 years ago lol. I do have a problem with my short term memory and its not because of my age lol I am terrible the other day I put this paper in my purse and I had the purse on my shoulder, I spent 15 mintues looking for it cause I couldn't remember where I put it.....so frustrating. When I was a kid I used to forget where I put my glasses and sometimes I would have them on lol
