can anyone tell me the exact dates that would make for a capricorn sun? my dad was born on jan. 19th and some books say that that is the last day for cappy and other say that it is jan. 20th. i also read on this site that if you are born on the last day of a sun sign that you are that sun sign if you were born before noon, because that is when the sign changes. after noon would be the next sign. is this true? do books list the cappy dates as sometimes jan. 19th and sometimes 20th because it changes depending on the year? do you need to check it precisely by year? i'm guessing that astro.com has all of this built in if this is true. right? my dad is for sure a cappy, but man, does he act like freak sometimes. everyone says so. i'm just wondering if he is a combo of cappy and aqua.? i've always had a suspicion that he is an aqua. rising, but i don't know his birth time. if so, that would explain it! HII'm not sure about the whole before noon and after noon thing...I doubt it But either way astro.com does have it all built in so if you put 11.59 pm as his birth time and the sun is still in cappy that'd mean it was in cappy all day. IP: Logged |

Yes, it comes down to depending on the time he was born. Say, for example, the sun leaves Capricorn at 2:10 pm on January 19th, and at 2:11 it's in Aquarius. That's why you need an ephemeris or use of a program like Astro.com. IP: Logged |

Actually it can vary up to a whole day depending on the year - the last/first days are kind of estimations for ease of application. I used to have a link to a very exact ephemeris for the Sun just for this kind of question, but can't find it now. However, astro.com would probably be more accurate. IP: Logged |

Plus - it can vary depending on the location of birth. You know someone born on such and such day, but you didn't know they were born in Tazmania.IP: Logged |

all i can say is thanks for sites like astro.com! i use their site all the time. i'm pretty sure i can get his birth time from his mom. it's not something you are likely to forget and she's still alive. my mom told me that as soon as i was born she asked what time it was just for kicks. and with two planets at 29 degrees, it makes a differance!
