Hi,
I was wondering what astrological similarities (if any) would writers such as C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, and Tolkien (or any other highly successful writer of this type of work) have in common. Does anyone know their birthdays, time, etc?

JK Rowling - July 31, 1965 Gloucestershire, England ----time??? ( I was surprised she is that young.)

There was a really indepth article on Tolkien a few months back in the Mountain Astrologer magazine. I'll try and find it. I know you can order past issues from them, I doubt they have that article on their site. I'll find that issue (I have it somewhere) and get back to you on the findings. I want to say Neptune is involved.........

You guys are really fast! I was just looking up CS Lewis' birthday. It's November 29, 1898 Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Thanks for the info!

I also have a Pisces moon and was wondering if Pisces is in common with these individuals.
We'll see

I just checked astro.com and created charts for Lewis and Rowling (using 12:00 noon) and Lewis has a Pisces-neptune and moon, Rowling has a Virgo moon, her Neptune is in Scorpio, jupiter is in Geminii (lots of Virgo. Her saturn is in Pisces. Tolkien has Pisces moon and Jupiter neptune in Geminii. I'll check them out more closely, but accurate times would help.

11/9 Oops the info above is innaccurate. See my next post

Well, seeing those of under Pisces/Neptune's influence (guilty here - Pisces moon, Neptune singleton) really know our way aroudn the *fantasy* area of the mind, it wouldn't surprise me.

Tolkien has Scorp Neptune trining his Pisces moon - a wellspring of imagination there.

Also, his Pluto and Uranus are conjunct right on the 9th house cusp - without any other planets in the universal houses, this should probably be considered a singleton by conjunction (both planets acting togteher as a singleton). Uranus singleton is sometimes called the "singleton of genius" and Pluto the "singleton of greatness." One certainly could argue that is so for Tolkien.

That these significant planets are in Gemini and on the 9th house cusp would certainly explain his gift for languages.

Oops! I spoke too quickly in the last post. I mistook Geminii for Pisces for CS Lewis. In fact, he has no planets in Pisces. I'm still looking at the charts and trying to find accurate birth times, however, I printed all three charts in black and white and noticed that they have similar geometry. All three have one obvious inexact trapezoidal shape narrow on top (different aspects - squares, sextiles, etc.)and a predominate angle that runs through the shape-some with several conjunctions. It's difficult to explain since I know little about magi astrology. For instance, if you look at my chart there is an obvious grand trine and a "rough" innexact kite connected to it. I'm not sure what this means, but I can see an obvious pattern with these charts when printed in black and white. It's still too early for me to say exactly what I've found though there seems to aspects to neptune, the moon, and pluto in all three. The aspects vary with several conjunctions, squares, sextiles, oppositions, whatever - it seems the aspects are strangely insignificant. I wonder if it really matters what the aspect to planets are as long as the planet are activated/aspected???Any thoughts on this? There are many other aspects in the charts, but so far this is what's common. Geminii seems to also an influence. Does anyone know how I can post charts here?

>>>"I wonder if it really matters what the aspect to planets are as long as the planet are activated/aspected???"

Yeah it does matter how the planets are aspected. In some cases, affliction can inhibit planets, rather than activate them. And depending on the planets, squares can be highly productive, oppositions a source of ideas and new prespectives and conjunctions oppressive.

Gemini's the writer's sign and the 3rd house the writer's house - they rule all aspects of language, oral or written, and it is a highly inventive and creative sign. It's polarity, Sagittarius/9th house can be highly influential in the writing area too.

In relation to Gemini, be sure to nore anything significant involving Virgo or Mercury as well. MC in writers' charts are often active or strongly aspected as well.
