i just have a quick question. i know mutual receptions make the two planets involved pretty important.

i have one:
venus in aquarius 18° (ruled by uranus)
uranus in libra 12° (ruled by venus)

so my venus trines my uranus, too, though a bit loosely by 6°.

however, my virgo sun/gemini moon friend also has one:
venus in scorp 12° (ruled by pluto)
pluto in libra 15° (ruled by venus)

but his venus and pluto don't exactly aspect each other - they're 27° apart, which i guess makes for almost a semisextile.

my question is this: when you have a mutual reception that doesn't exactly involve an aspect, can you read the mutual reception as a venus-pluto aspect? could i read a book which has interpretations of venus-pluto aspects and apply that to him?

thanks, guys!

No. In a word. LOL. Here's why: mutual reception is about essential dignity, or the essential strength of a planet ASIDE from aspects and placements.

Mutual reception will increase the essential dignity of both planets, but this doesn't mean these two planet interact with each. They only interact with each other if they are in fact aspected, like any other planet. altough that aspect would have considerable prominence due to the planets being both having higher diginity. But without a major or notable minor aspect between them, then no, aspect interpretations wouldn't really apply to them because they're still not interacting with each other as such. Make sense?

Also read Venus in Libra and Uranus in Aquarius
With a mutual reception the planets take the qualities of the sign that it is mutual reception with.

Er, not quite. That's a common "rule of thumb" that isn't very accurate, is highly relative to the individual situation and just plain confused the hell out of a lot of people. Really, the planet's don't "swap" out their sign influences, but more of a "building onto" effect is happening - they influence each other to manifest positive traits common to their rulership/exaltation that aren't necessarily present in the sign they currently are in. Thus the planets take on more qualities as though they were in either their rulership or exaltation, yes, but the actual placement of the planet doesn't change. Chrissy still has a Libra Uranus, and any aspects due to it being in Libra, but it'll act more like an Uranus in its rulership than the average Libra Uranus.

The signs the planets are in will still manifest to some extent, but it'll be like a blending of qualities, but for the better - any inhibiting attributes of the sign the planet currently is in are usually overcome by the mutual reception and/or the planet will act in ways common to its rulership/exaltation but not to the sign it's in. In Chrissy's case, the difference in actual traits may be subtle and bearly noticable since one of the planets is an outer planet and both are in air signs, although it should be very noticable that both planets extert more influence than normal.
