In a synastry chart- what would you say about both people having the other person's Pluto in their first house? It freaked me out a little, just seems like a scary control thing..I'll tell you what else is going on connected to this-
His saturn is in my first house as well and trines my sun, mercury and venus, sextiles my moon and saturn and squares my uranus.
His pluto squares my mercury, trines my jupiter and my pluto squares his moon and trines his mercury.
But mainly it's that Pluto thing I want to know about. Insight would be very appreciated. I suck at synastry.

Actually, it sounds kind of scary!

I don't even know where to start. But my curiousity is piqued.

oooh oooh me, let me try!

chrissy explained this to me recently and now i would love to share the wealth of knowledge with another

to work out where your planets fall in your partners house or vice versa, you need to know their birth time... so that... ok... lets say your rising sign is Scorpio, OK? Scorpio is the ruler of your first house... and then Sag would rule your 2nd, Capricorn your third, etc, etc. It goes in order, starting from your rising sign, anti-clockwise.

Now let's say your partner's moon is in Aries. Aries rules your 6th house, therefore your partner's moon falls into your sixth house. And so on and so forth with all your other planetary placements.

Where your partners planets fall in your chart indicate how he/she would make you feel... and where your planets fall in their chart show the effect you have on them. Then of course you can calculate the aspects to see how those planets interact too.

Hope that helps!

You will make each other more assertive. Each of you will help bring suppressed feelings and desires up to the surface in each other. You'll become each other's counselor.

If you both have pluto in the 1st house natally... then both of you already have a similar way of approaching the world... being extremely aware of things around you as well as the motivations of others. Both of you would be very psychoanalytical anyway, being in this relationship, will actually make you even MORE sensitive.

Your pluto squaring his moon may prove very hurtful if there aren't any other aspects to his moon. It means that you can subconsciously stir up his repressed childhood fearful and angry emotions so badly that he'll either be cathartically healed or you'll damage him further if he resists. It has to do with how much he can take. He might have already been through a similar catharsis in a previous relationship and this won't necessarily be the case. But if he has pluto conjunct his ascendant natally... he wouldn't open up quickly at all.

If his pluto only squares your mercury and trines your jupiter... that's not much at all compared to what your pluto is doing to him. The mercury aspect will just cause your speech to become more caustic than normal during disagreements. The jupiter aspect is very favorable... he'll boost your optimism... and will help you advance socially. Your pluto squaring his moon is very harsh. In this case, he should be writing to this forum asking for help.

Alone, pluto in each other's first house, is really not all that major of a placement in synastry... UNLESS one's pluto also forms major aspects to the other's personal planets and you did mention the pluto square moon contact... AND/OR if one of you has pluto exactly on the ascendant of the other. This would make the ASC individual feel that the partner is either VERY domineering AND/OR intensely self-controlled. But you also have to take into account whether there are other planets activating your first house (your own and his)... you mentioned saturn... is there anything else?

Technically, you could share this pluto placement with every person on the world up to 12 years within the age range of your partner.

I would focus on this placement LAST. The impact it MIGHT have may never occur if the rest of the chart doesn't keep you together long enough.

First look to your personal planet placements. Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars. What are they doing? These will tell you why you are attracted to each other. Saturn and Uranus will tell you for how long you will be attracted to each other. So you already mentioned the saturn placement. Those aspects are WONDERFUL for longterm commitment. The catch? You have to be comfortable with him playing the "father-figure" and you have to be willing to commit to making it work... ESPECIALLY with pluto added into the mix. Despite your attraction... you may see him as a stern disciplinarian during the first stages of your relationship... until he really opens up and you see the rest of him. Don't be selfish, also look to see what your planets, especially saturn, are doing to his own. What houses do his planets fall in your chart? What houses do your planets fall into his chart?

For both sides... moon needs to feel safe. Venus needs to be loved. Mars needs to be charged. Your seventh house begs for activity... and the fifth house makes the sex even more worthwhile in addition to... or instead of aspects to your mars. Otherwise you may love him, but won't want to sleep with him. Or vice-versa.

Aquarian girl: Thanks for the info. I have an additional question, in your example "Aries rules your 6th house, therefore your partner's moon falls into your sixth house." how would I go about interpreting this exactly, and what would it mean in this case? Thanks!

Thanks so much cazimiphoenix, I don't know why I got so freaked out about that pluto, just seemed kind of negative I suppose. You really helped me out. I'm just learning about synastry, so I really don't know what I'm going, I will definitely check out those websites. I find it hard to get free synastry stuff online. :d thanks a million!

Squeeze a bit lower outside of this thread... and you'll find that to you I'll FEEL much differently than Gem Nymph.

But if you meant I personally "actively feel" like Gem Nymph... a Pisces moon does have a similar sensitivity to a Scorpio moon. She too had a lot of pluto from what I recall... and she was also an air sun with a water moon.

Or if you meant that my writings remind you of G.N. ... and as a result... you feel what I write... then that is one great compliment. Thank you. I didn't expect to live up to that just yet. I aim to have my brain speak to hearts and not just brain to brain.

white rabbit,

are the plutos conjunct the ascendant? if they are within 10°, id say thats a very powerful connection, scary but perhaps transformational in a good way.

my partner's pluto is in my first house (conjunct my ascendant by 3°). here's an interp:

X's Pluto is in your First House.
You probably see X as very powerful, and this might have been a quality that initially attracted you to this person. It can be reassuring to be intimately connected with someone who has the ability to take charge when circumstances warrant it. However, you might find that he sometimes tries to wield power over you when you prefer to be your own boss. If you feel he is too controlling, don’t keep these feelings inside. That could ultimately lead to volcanic eruptions between you. Instead, talk about it. If you analyze these matters together, you can come up with solutions that may make you feel better and could even transform the situation.

X's Pluto in Y's 1st House
You share similar interests in corporate affairs, scientific research, politics and occult matters. With your mutual desire to bring about political, economic, technological and ecological reform, you could work on joint projects with the same goals. X can help Y become more aware of Y's deepest motivations. This combination indicates a karmic bond between you, and you may have much unfinished business to work out this time around. If a difficult comparison (or if Pluto is heavily afflicted in X's natal chart), Y will resent X's efforts to remake Y into someone more to X's liking.

hope that helps ya.

libra78, i saw your question about planets in another's houses, and i think aquarian girl answered quite deftly, but ill go ahead with an example of my own:

my sun happens to be pisces 28°, and my partner's sun is virgo 29°. my ascendant is libra 12°, making my 12th house cusp virgo 12°. his ac is scorpio 27°, making his 4th house cusp pisces 6°. the sign and the degree on the house cusp is what you need to pay attention to - by my example above youll see that my sun falls in his 4th house and his sun in my 12th. the thing to remember is that the time of birth is very important here, along with location, so you can determine what the signs and degrees are on each of the cusps of the 12 houses. make sense?

and then i just saw that you asked: "I have an additional question, in your example 'Aries rules your 6th house, therefore your partner's moon falls into your sixth house.' how would I go about interpreting this exactly, and what would it mean in this case?"

the way you go about interpreting this was answered in part by A G, and in part by what i said above. basically, im going to assume you now know how to place your planets in someone else's houses. interpretation is a little trickier. it would involve being aware that where our planets or angles fall in the HOUSES of another individual activates that house, that area of life for them. you take their horoscope and plot where YOUR planets would fall in HIS/HER houses and you get a feel for what area of life is stimulated or affected by YOU. (never mind the planets they may touch, for the moment.)

if his pluto is on your ascendant and vice versa, it is like having pluto transiting to the ascendant ALL THE TIME. it is intense, awe inspiring, passionate, transformational — sometimes disruptive and painful — always meaningful! some things are eliminated from your life and new ones built. issues of power and control are highlighted, yours and his.

because of the nature of PROJECTION (the capacity to deny a part of ourselves and attribute it to another, experience through another), all synastry contacts can go both ways. let’s say you have your sun conjunct his saturn. he will not always or necessarily be the saturn one that feels inadequate and vulnerable (or ambitious and solid) and you the one that feels bright and sunny and creative. it can flip. he can project his saturn onto you and you can project your sun onto him. it goes both ways … with everything!

hope that helps ya.

sincerely,
chrissy

I bowed down to Chrissy whom I think did a terrific job of explaining the method by which to interpret the placement.

As for the interpretation itself...

I've shared this placement with a few girlfriends.

The general interpretation tends to designate this placement for co-worker relations or health practitioners. Usually, you'll want your doctor's sun to fall in this house. It increases the critical outlook on hygiene and health matters. The sixth house is generally seen as the house of work and health.

So how does this tie into a relationship? It's wonderful in my opinion. The partner with the sun takes on the role of the caretaker and "caters" to your needs.

I always had my "health" needs satisfied with this placement. They were also very helpful with all matters pertaining to my career... as they were ensuring that my stress-levels were "calmed"... aiding me in keeping all aspects of my life in working order.

Did you happen to meet this person at your workplace? Doesn't have to be the case. Just curious.

libra78 - mea culpa! i try never to make assumptions; it's just that like 98% of the people here are girls.

and i'm glad i was helpful, sometimes i can sort of come off in a convoluted fashion, just all over the place (moon in the 3rd house, maybe)...or maybe it's just that i'm addicted to caffeine and i guzzle it like it's going out of style so that affects my speech & communication skills (and my motor skills, sometimes).

it helps to associate where your planets fall in another's houses with the sign the house is associated with - in the example you gave, it's virgo (6th house). virgo is a very giving, caring sign. they're usually genuinely concerned with the health and well-being of others, especially those that they care for.
