Hello everyone! Although I believe in astrology, I am starting to believe that not everyone lives up to their Sun sign. I was reading Linda Goodman's book "Love signs" the other night and came across a remark she had made in the book. Something about "being true to your sun sign". But what if you are not typical of your sun sign? What if you even try balancing yourself and you still don't see many of ur sun sign qualities?
You would not believe the amount of people that I"ve met who claim they don't act like their sun sign and some who REALLY weren"t typical of their Star sign.
I kid you not, I have met a few:unassertive, quiet, homebody and even shy Ariens- in fact I even behave more like an Aries than certain ones that I have met(eg. my mother law and my best friend"s mother) unsociable, organized and withdrawn Geminis- my other good friend of 11 yrs is a Gem and I have to practically BEG her to come out of her house and party with me. she's a virtual packrat and homebody. Aggressive, liberal and fearless cancers(Humm, Mike tyson and Tom cruise are classic Examples) i know ALOT of messy, disorganized and lazy virgos.(the singer Pink-who i really like- looks more like fire sign than a virgo). and the list goes on and on. Isn't it more a person's early childhood expiriences that shape a person's personality as well as society,and our friends? however i do believe that we have at least SOME of our star sign qualities. do any of you know people who are almost the opposite of the sign and if so, were they more like their ASC,moon sign or etc? I almost do not believe that we behave ONLY or MOSTLY like our sun sign- but a mixture of our personal planetary patterns.What's strange is that for some reason-whenever i guess a person's sign, i wind up finding out that its their MOON sign! on the other hand- some people are very typical examples of their sun sign and will readily show those characteristics.
Have any of you read your sun sign descriptions and have been like" this is SOO not me?At least not most of the time"? Pls feel free to post ur comments. thanks.

Maybe, passion, you "see" people thru their emotional reactions - hence always getting their Moon. 9with "passion" in your name, I would hazard a guess your main modality is thru emotions)  I agree with you. I know many people who do not behave as their sign "says" they should. My Arien brother is calm, patient, and slow to anger (it freaks me out) My Gemini brother is focused, diligent, and disciplined... ever more so than I, his Virgo sibling. Most folks assume I am a fire sign. I am rather fiesty, almost confrontational. And a touch scatterbrained, for a Virgo. Astrology will never be a hard science, I hope... that would take the fun out of human originality. MK IP: Logged |

a lot of people can't really touch on what sign I really am at first. I have to tell them. I've had people tell me I'm so many other signs, and they're all in my chart somewhere, although I've been called a Cancer before and that's actually my Taurus rising/Taurus moon mix. I'm uber emotional for a Virgo, so much that it can render me useless for a whole day. I'm not AS critical as other Virgos. I seem to need/want more of a social life than other Virgos, can be really friendly and talkative. A few have pegged my Mercury, which is in Libra as being my Sun thanks to that, and also because I love to debate or argue for the sake of being on the other side. However, I really do have the analytical part of Virgo. I'm also lazier and messier than what I read about Virgos. IP: Logged |

I'm kind of like that. I'm an Aquarius/Pisces cusp, technically I'm really an Aquarius but I act more like a Pisces. It's probably because I have Pisces Rising and Sun, Moon and Mercury in the 12th House. But, as an Aquarius, I should be social, scientific, eccentric, uh ... I could go on but I think you get the idea. Anyway, I'm not social at all. I'm a recluse actually. Even when I try to be logical, my feelings always get in the way. It's easy to make me cry too. I'm not eccentric either. I'm also really moody.. and rather than being scientific, I'm more artsy. If that isn't enough proof, I've got more. ^_-;IP: Logged |

to I.F.- actually you come off more like a Cancer through the descriptions you just mentioned. Especially about being reclusive. Many Cancers tend to be reclusive by "retreating" into their shells.to M.F.-actually, i am alot more mental than I am emotional(thanks to my highly aspected Mercury on my MC). however, I do have a Scorpio asc(which could explain part of my user name-Passion)! I actually don't have any Cancer in my chart. o.o But, I find I usually relate better to the descriptions of Pisces than Aquarius, but I can relate to both to a certain degree. It's kind of confusing when you don't know which side to turn to.IP: Logged |

A lot of my characteristics fit, but for a sag with a libra moon and sag ascendent I am very emotional and sensitive. I'm not nearly as carefree as common descriptions would indicate, either.IP: Logged |

Well I dont think anyone fits their sun sign 100%, if everyone fit their sun 100% there would be a lot of people who have identical personalities. Our personality is made up of other factors than our sun sign such as our moon, rising, planets, houses, etc.Im a leo, Im very shy and not assertive at all. This is an interesting concept I just read about on another astrology board: quote:
Apparently - and I have no references for this yet - "ancient" astrologers (and the guy's a Hellenist, so I think he means ancient Greeks rather than medieval) reckoned that your Sun sign was only activated if it made an aspect to either your Ascendant or Ascendant ruler (and by aspect, we mean a Ptolemaic aspect: conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition). If it doesn't, then you don't act out your Sun sign at all.
What do you think? My Aquarius Sun, by these rules is activated... my sun trines my ascendant. I don't know if I believe that, but it's interesting to ponder. IP: Logged |
