i'm working out a chart for a fella who is miserable in his line of work and looking to find his true calling..

rising cancer, saturn and moon in first house
mc pisces, neptune in the 5th in sag.
sun in virgo in 3rd..
6th house is sag, jupiter in aries in the 10th

from what i can see and understand.. he'd be most at home in a healing-type position, maybe caring for children? or maybe a boat-crewman?

he's pondering becoming an oil technician.. home heat fixing.. would that work as well?

Can you post the entire chart?

I would think he would work with people! His MC is in a water sign, creates empathy.

laglady -

You came quite close to what came to my mind as well ...

I see the option of working from home, owning a business where he is able to send other's to jobs remotely.

I looked to his 10th House to see why he is looking towards another straightjacket job. His Jupiter and Chiron are in his 10th House.

So I ask myself - OK - what does this fear translate to in terms of his actions? So I look at his Mars. It's in Gemini in his 11th House. He is afraid of not being able to "manage" people he is friends with, probably because his friends tempt him with activities which pulls him away from his more serious pursuits. Rather than be a wet dog, he'd rather be in the background along with them.

His Sun is in a Mutable Sign, Virgo. So it's easy for him to hang with his buddies. And with that Moon in Leo, he's comfortable even outshining them on occasion, as long as it is within the playful realms of friendships. His Moon and Saturn are in his 1st House - so this where others may see his potential.

But he himself may not be aware of any motivation to makes things any different for himself.

Let's see how much stamina he has. His Saturn is in Cancer, it's opposite energy.

Yes Jupiter/10th likes security, I know that one, and Chiron, his sense of self needs that even more. So at one time in his life he will need that security. He is artitistic but not passionate about being in a creative field.

Pisces midheaven, I see children in his future, maybe even a few. I see better luck near the water, and living with someone, stable job means stable life, and Pisces midheaven needs the structure around him.

Moon and Saturn on the 1st in Cancer, leads to background work, not too flashy, he's not going to want to be on display, but his Jupiter/10th wants to be self employed.

I recommend partial self employment, or having a partner, or partners.

I'm sorry this is going to sound really stupid, but I'm not the most astrologically knowledgable. Wouldn't it just benefit this guy to do something he enjoys. I'm sure anything that he feels he would rather do is good. In general, change is good. I'm not sure if what you meant was that his sun sign is Virgo or not but if so, its same as me and I can never decide what to do for a living......
hmm...

I see what you mean Doogie, but I understand why this guy wants astrology to help him solve his problem. I'm in the same boat. I know types of things that I like to do, but none of them seem to fit into a "career path" per se. The chart can reveal tendencies and strengths that we might not think of.

With your friend Laglady, I'd agree with everyone's observations but also taken into account his sixth house cusp in Sagittarius. His day to day work needs to be involved in teaching or traveling..or something that is varied. If he does own a business, it could be consultant oriented or involving visiting customers in their home to satisfy these needs. The home heat fixing seems like it would fit these criteria.

Also, his north node is Scorpio can reveal some about his "calling." The position would need to deal with other people's money, partners...etc. This echoes someone else's statement regarding him wanting to be "in the back."

I have the same question about myself and was wondering if anyone of you would take a look. Here's my chart:

I have the same problem!! I need to find my calling. I'm so terrible at interpreting my own chart. I'm the same way with the tarot readings I do...can read for myself worth a darn.

This may seem off the wall but how bout a coach or teacher
virgo s are good with details and with all the water signs esp. his moon & cancer
he would be good at communicating with children and their success would feed his leo moon.just a thought.

Not sure how this will square with what you know about your friend Mike.

I hope he has not neglected his education because I would say he wants recognition in his chosen professional field. I stress professional field because he has a lot of ambition.

The biggest hurdle for him is going to be overcoming aimlessness, having no specific aim in life but wanting all the things that go with success, focusing on something and seeing it through. This does not bode well for a self starter, self energized business owner type where he would be the initiator of activity.

He is not going to be satisfied with a humdrum job, tied to a desk or a specific routine. He needs the challenge of a changing routine and discovery. He isn't a big fan of bureaucracy so most jobs in government would quickly drive him insane as would the routine.

He would most likely do very well and be satisfied with a career as an archeologist, geologist, sociologist, historian, consultant or trouble shooter....providing that field work and travel were the biggest part of the job and the office aspects were minimal.

He probably does not like constant or close supervision but likes his independence of action once a problem or job is laid out for him.
