I'm five weeks away from becoming a mom (yea!) and my due date is right on the cusp of Cap and Aquarius....grrrr...so frustrating not to know.

Anyway, I was wondering, since we are having a homebirth, when I should calculate little Sophie's birth time. Is it when her head crowns or when she's totally out. I know the doctor usually announces it and writes it down on the birth certificate, but my midwife will be doing that. Being astrology buffs, we both want to know for sure.

Im not sure about the answer to your question, but I do know that most women do not deliver on their exact predicted date. Other factors such as weight, stress, exercise, baby size, etc. intervene to make the delivery before or later. Most probably you won't have the cusp problem.

If I'm not mistaken, the correct time would be the moment the Sophie draws her first breath. Beautiful name, by the way. An advanced welcome to your little newcomer!

I thought it was when they cut the cord, because the baby is now a separate person. But the first breath sounds like it makes more sense.

Okay here we go I found one example in "Relationship Signs" by Linda that says "A Sun Sign is a particular zone of the zodiac-Aries, Taurus, Gemini, etc- in which the Sun was located at the moment you drew your first breath...." on pg. 11 Sorry I'm being so exact, I just wanted to back up what I said, since this is a very important time.

congratulations on your baby will she be your first?

when the baby takes her first breath would be the birth time.

i have 2 babies, ages 3 and 3mo., on the form where you write all of the preferrences regarding birth, like "does your support person want to cut the cord" and "would you like the lights dimmed during labor and delivery"... i wrote my own at the end... "please record exact time of birth" ended up getting into a big conversation about astrology, medical timekeeping..

oh, and both of my babies were cusp babies too.. virg/lib.. both ended up being born in libra

Thank you all so much! This is my first, my husband's second. He has a ten year old Sag (just like Daddy) and Aqua rising (just like stepmom). I know its really unlikely she'll be born on her due date (like 4% of babies are) but I was a little bummed my due date wasn't like in the middle of a sign, that way I'd have a better idea. Although I'd love to have another Aqua...I get the feeling she's going to be a Cap...but then again, babies come when they are ready so who knows!
