"Every master kills you
so that he can give back your reality that you have forgotten.

OshO"

Picking up from another recent thread in here, regarding "behavior" and "astrology" - the thread was speaking more of the "excuses" people can make for their foibles, blaming it on any of their astrological placements.

It reminded me of when I first started fooling with this fire called astrology. I never assumed my youth was the cause of the ego clashes which occur. Seemed so real to me, that certainly, everyone else must experience this "powerful" feeling at some time. The energy it took me to overcome these challenges was incredible. Enough to make me remember, I put a heck of a lot of effort into it. You can replace the word "astrology" with anything you like - whatever "fire" you first started playing with which taught you important lessons about power and ego.

More specifically, a fire illuminating the true faces of others. WhooooH!! Wait a minute!

I think it does humble us, as we read our own shortcomings, right there in black and white in front of us. It's hard to not face the not-so-nice truths about ourselves when they so plainly spelt out like that.

On the other hand, it's extremely empowering, because the first step in solving a problem, is of course, recognizing and admitting that it's there. No more fighting invisible demons.

It's also empowering in the sense that it helps us to put into perspective other people's behavior, especially when it's BAD behavior that may hurt our feelings, or worse. It gives us a box to put that in, and label it, and thus helps us to detach from it and not take it so personally. If somebody betrays and hurts you, well that's more of a reflection on THEM than it is on YOU. Astrology gives us some understanding of how others tick, and why they may be inclined to do the things they do.

It's not me, it's YOU! Now, let me tell you why...

I find a lot of people are spookily like their sun sign and although some things are pretty much blamable on just who they are and their sign, some poeple are just jerks/like that etc.

Astrology has humbled me to a certain extent. In kind of lets me know my place and that I can't be friends with everyone because I'm going to annoy them or something. Astrology is good for helping people know themselves better because some people go through life thinking they're perfect and not even knowing their faults.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about but I think I get the jist.

Playing with the fire myself, I have learned why some relations with others in my life are the way they are... life long clashes with my Virgo/Scorpio/Libra brother especially. I don't use someone's sun sign as an excuse to explain their good or bad behavior, but as a way to communicate with someone in a better way.
My Cancer/Cancer/Pisces friend? Befuddled me when I first met her... had to pry her mouth open with a crowbar just to get a "hello". Now it's non-stop talkin', and she is SOOOO incredibly emotional. Therefore I do tend to let her have her emotional rants and raves with me, and if something's bothering her I'll fish with adjectives and such. Make sense?
Back to my brother though... talk about your mood swings and obsessive/compulsive behavior. I've read up on his "typical" astrology traits, and I am communicating with him much better. It's a give and take kinda thing. Hopefully you take what you see and give back what someone else can comprehend easily.

I think astrology has humbled me , espc. in the sense that before ,i would relate everything someone did with my way of thinking like : why would i have done/said that ,what would motivate me to be like that, as a way to understand them.
Now i see ( as i step off my throne) that people all have different ways and motivations styles ect. So i am able to find geniune compatability to focus on and cherish the differences that make as all who we are as individuals without judging myself or them.Everyone is beautiful and everyone is ugly its what makes us divine in our humanity. but thats just mho hehe

Thanks 26Taurus -

I did find that quote blazingly true. Must be honest, I'm unable to get into reading his work. Perhaps because I'll be pregnant with my own book soon, and perhaps because I feel I've been properly "de-briefed" via flashbacks of books such as "The Prophet", "The Book", by Alan Watts, "Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance", and "The Dancing Wu Li Masters".

Currently trying to finish "Paramahansa Yogananda - Autobiography of a Yogi", which is written rather uniquely.

Or get this - since in my young teens, I've been unable to read more than 3 pages of Nietzsche without feeling like I'll literally jump right out of my skin. Try telling your teeny bopper friends this. You'll get a long stoic stare in return.

Nietzsche was a Libra too, although I didn't find that out until much later - but everything he wrote were already thoughts I'd had in my head. It makes me crazy because I'll be like - "This is something I could have written myself!! I've thought these exact thoughts already!!" Very very weird.

Don't mean to make it sound arrogant in any way. Maybe he and I have some kind of past life, or soul union. Like that kind of feeling.

Wait - now I've gotta look to see what I have in common with him, as a writer, you know?

We both have :::

Sun - Libra
Venus - Virgo

Uranus in the 4th
Chiron in the 10th

Mercury Conjunct Mars
Jupiter Trine Asc
Neptune Sextile Pluto

Also, he has a Scorpio Asc which helps match my strong Scorpio influences.

Oh well - don't know if that seems like much. I still read a lot on all things metaphysical, as well as psychology, sociology and the hard sciences. A bit of a renaissance girl, mixed in with a little bit of Judy Maxwell (Burnsy) from "What's Up Doc?" In other words, some people's worst nightmare ...

Very cool aj. I know exactly what you mean about feeling like what you are reading are thoughts out of your own head. Interesting about Nietzsche and your placements. It's great when you read something and you feel like you are on the same exact wavelength, and more intereting when you have an understanding of astrology and can see why. Funnily, I have never read his works, dont ask me why? I should sometime. Also I've got to pick up Autobiography of a Yogi now. Someone mentioned it in a thread yesterday and I took it as a sign that I needed to pick it up. And now you mention it! Synchronicity??? I also dont know why I havent read that one yet. I've been meaning to for years. I guess when the student is ready the book appears. *wink* Fun fact: Osho was a Sag. I guess that's why I like him. I like his style of bluntness and not beating around the bush and also the degree of truth and wisdom in his words.

Good luck with the birth of your book. I'd love to read it.

Yeah - Synchronicity.

And it's no coicidence that Anais Nin has been my number one fiction inspiration for many years now.

I'm sure OshO and I see eye to eye on most things. At least I'll try to prove myself to his Sag Sun via my 9th House Jupiter & Saturn in Capricorn.

Great topic! I have found that astrology has allowed me to accept certain parts of myself, as well as humble me. I used to hate my tendency to think about myself first, and then I discovered my Leo rising. I learned the good parts of Leo (generosity, creativity) and try to emphasize those instead.

In dealing with others I've been much, much, much more patient since learning astrology. I can understand where others are coming from much better and do not get as frustrated with "idiotic" behavior, as I used to see it. I'm much less likely to try to apply my own way of doing things to them in the form of giving "If it were me" advice.

Astrojunkie...I'm a big fan of Yogananda. I'm glad to hear others are reading him. He talks about astrology in that book, if I'm not mistaken.
