Would my Moon and Neptune be an "out of sign" conjunction because they are within the same degree?

Moon 1'7 degrees Taurus
Neptune 1'24 Capricorn

That would be a trine.

BTW, an "out of sign conjunction" would be if you had say....Sun at 29' Virgo and Neptune at 2' Libra. They are within 10 degrees of each other, but in different signs. A conjunction is when one planet is within 10 degrees on either side of the other planet.

In this case, any planet from 19' Virgo on and 9' Libra from, would be conjunct the Sun.

Make sense?

ugh...I'm so horrible with numbers and calculations. I've tried desperately to understand them but there's a serious mental block. Thankyou for explaining it though, it will just take me some time *puts thinking cap on*

Don't give up. I'm looking at it for the 100th time and think it's catching on.

Conjunct is just a term equally 0.0 degrees. And Orb is like a window of opportunity to make its effects known, which varies from astrologist to astrologist. Don't worry too much about Orb's right now.

No prob. Yes, as aj, said "dont give up".

Dont sweat it though, one day it'll all just click. You'll see.

I'm horrible with numbers myself. Once you get all of the signs, modalities, qualities down you'll start to see a pattern.

All signs of the same element are will trine each other. (depending on the orb) So you can see in your question above why they are trining, not conjuncting. You have a tight orb there (same degree) and both planets are in the same element (earth) so they are trined. If your Neptune was 1 degree Cancer you would have a sextile. You see? Earth and Water sextile, as do Fire and Air.

Now if your Neptune was at say, 25 degrees Capricorn, it would be out of orb (too far away) and it would not be trining your Moon at 1 degree Taurus. With trines, it's best to keep within an orb of 8 degrees. And in that example, they are more than 8 degrees apart.

Here's a guideline:
Aspect/Degrees/Orb
Conjunction / 0 / 10
Semi-Sextile / 30 / 2
Sextile / 60 / 6
Square / 90 / 8
Trine / 120 / 8
Quincunx / 150 / 2
Opposition / 180 / 10

Feel free to ask questions if this doesnt make sense.

Right - it may not line up just right due to the defaults, however, the first column is the Aspect being referred to. The next column is how many Degrees the Aspect being spoken of is when you describe it as such-and-such Aspect.

Example :::

Tri = 3
Trine = 30 Degrees X 3

Each Sign has 30 Degrees, and multiplied by 3 because it is a Trine, therefore, 90 Degrees.

The last column is the Orb, or window of opportunity astrologists determine, in order to focus on effects felt. I wouldn't worry so much about that.

Hey ScorpBaby,

This might help with - "out of sign conjunction"

"Another ie..to make it clearer. Say your Sun was at 29 degrees Aries and your Venus was at 1 degree Taurus. On the astro wheel...ur Sun and ur Venus would be nearly exactly on top of each other...even if they are in diff signs so they'd be conjuncted. If your sun was at 1 degree Aries (right at the start of Aries...like if u were born on the 21st march) it would make NO aspect to your venus"

I said this on a diff thread - thats an out of sign conjuntion

PS Just a Q for AJ or 26Taurus or any1 else who knows..Is an out of sign conjuntion as strong as an IN sign conjuntion if its within a very close orb like 0-2 degrees.

Exactly aj.

The orbs are actually a guideline to see if planets are actually aspecting each other.

If you had the Sun at 1 degree Taurus and the Moon at 26 degrees Taurus, they would not be conjunct because they are out of orb. Yes they are in the same sign, but too far away to be conjunct.

As you can see above the orb rule for a conjunction is 10 degrees. In this example these two planets are separated by more than 10 degrees = "out of orb".

Question:
Someone has Moon in Virgo at 22 degrees.
They have Venus in Capricorn at 24 degrees.

Are these planets in orb (making an aspect to each other) ?
If so, what aspect are they making to each other?

Hi aries-chick, (great example BTW )

This is a little debatable. Some astrologers consider it a conjunction, because technically it is. Other's dont like to focus too much on out of sign conjunctions. They only consider planets conjuncting within the same sign to have the energies the conjunction gives out. I can see both points but I do consider out of sign conjunctions to be relevant. I just place a little less emphasis on them. Planets conjuncting in the same sign will be stronger than out of sign ones. That's my rule of thumb. But still, I do think out of sign ones are felt. Especially if the orbs are tight.

The way I get around all that hogwash is to consider "same Sign" Planets VERY important, as they are experiencing the same vibes.

The Orb's - uh!!

Through my personal observation thusfar - I keep them ALL really tight, like no more than 2 degrees for ANYTHING.

But like I said, also place a LOT of importance on Planets in the same Signs, although they may be "technically" out of "Orb".

Thank you 26T ..I always wondered about that. My gut feeling was that it does count (just cause of my own chart and other people's charts I've seen).

Very true. Planets in the same sign will have an "understanding" of each other, even when out of orb.

In synastry, composite and predictive astrology, you want to keep the orbs as tight as possible. Like 2 degrees.

But when looking at natal charts most astrologers use the chart above as an orb guideline. I've seen the same orb charts in all of my natal astrology books.

In predictive and relationship astrology, you wouldnt use such wide orbs.
