I was just over visiting an uncle-guru figure of mine, and asking him if he thought that a Strong Moon influence could overshadow a mutable, 'weak' Sun sign. I was telling him that I only have one planet in my sun sign (my sun) and four others are in a very strong other influence (scorpio, including moon). I was telling him many times I felt more Scorp than my sun sign, and asking him what he thought about it (hes extensively studied astrology and has some great things to say about it )
He said: "think of it like this; the sun comes out every day but the moon shows up a few days a month. Same thing with ur sun and moon signs: You are what you are, which is ur your sun sign period. A lot of people like to say, well I have strong other influences, and yes you do but thats all they are, strong other influences. The moon sign will come every few days a month and making u feel and perhaps act in certain ways which u will feel is totaly not you. It will push your sun sign to do things that you may find weird. You may find yourself overly emotional, stubborn or mutable, dominating or dominated, intense, etc.
The period will pass though, like any moon cycle, and afterwards, you will realize that you either made a mistake/ or grabbed a great opportunity by listening to your moon. Sometimes I have felt that I made rash, dominating decisions according to my Aries moon when my easygoing logical Libra sun is quite shocked afterwards. Also, I've found that the business opportunity I took advantage of was only because my Aries moon recognized the golden treasure and jumped on it, whereas the Libra sun would have never allowed it to do so in regular conditions --it would have thought a lot and taken its time."
He basically said that your sun is your personality but the moon can be the occasionally 'what you are' thing. I asked him about my Leo mom's Pisces moon and he said it might give her a high intuitive sensitive edge during some days of the month (Ive found this very true. My moms a dr. and she sometimes , every once in a while, senses some diagnosis thats not showing through the regular exams. When she sends the patient for extensive checkups, it turns out to be true! shes caught two tumors and 1 meningitis case like this).
I just thought it was an interesting explanation
What do you guys think?

I have rather similar take on the importance of the Sun sign. 'The Moon visible just for few days' is a lovely way to put it. But I'd add, that even when the Moon is not visible, it is still there. In my opinion it is essential to keep it happy. Even if it is just for a few days in a month.

I think there are many other factors to take into consideration- is the sun unaspected? or the moon? if so then whichever one will be more stressed in a person's chart. If the sun or moon is relatively unaspected or heavily aspected that will make a difference in how it shows up in the manifestation of personality

I am a pisces moon and feel more my moon sign most of the time.

Secret Garden -

That is SO cool about your Dr. mom's intuition! And rare for a "scientist" type, but I think we will all be turning the corner on science here soon.

I think the most we can hope for in terms of the Sun and Moon's influence is that we allow the Sun to decide what we are willing to let ourselves become emotional over. At least, that's the way this Libra Sun, Cancer Mooner deals. It's difficult, like has been said, you may be in a FEELING mood and then regret the conclusions you made at that time, when in hindsight you look back at it with your Sun.

OR, you may be relying on the Sun, and miss out on the sentimental journey you're supposed to experience as well.
