I briefly read somewhere that Chiron is the ruler of careers. Has anyone else heard this or know what aspects to look for? I believe it has something to do with magi astrology.

Can you link us to where it says that, or even copy & paste here?

I've not heard that, there are plenty of indications in a Chart without involving Chiron into it, unless your Chiron is in the 10th House (Midheaven or MC) like mine ... then that's another story.
