I was just reading Linda Goodmans Love Signs and I found something that really scared me.

She said "Unless Venus was afflicted at her birth, the typical Pisces woman is spared the torture of jealousy..."

What does she mean by afflicted? I'm new to astrology. Does she mean if Venus is square or opposite to a significant planet? Or any planet?

Or does she mean that certain signs in Venus would make you jealous.

I have Aries in Venus, that's OK right? Please someone tell me it's OK

The problem is is that I'm a poor judge of my own character, I might have been like this all my life and completely unaware. All this time I disliked jealousy in people. Am I a hypocrite?

Are there any exceptions?

In relationships I give complete and utter blind faith and trust...or at least I think I do.

(Please forgive me if I'm being irrational, when I get emotional all logic goes out of the window and I feel lost)

What's worse is that I have Aries rising and in Mars, does that make it worse?
All this time I was loving all the Aries in my chart.

Can someone please help

Afflicted
Used to describe a Planet which is unfavourably Aspected; Squares, Oppositions and Quincunxes. An ancient term which is still commonly used.

neptune's mermaid, from reading her sentence, she means, any Pisces woman whose Venus is not in square with, in opposition with, or quincunxed with any of the other 9 planets (and possibly Chiron, the True Node, the Ascendant, and Midheaven as well), will be spared jealousy.

Neptunes Mermaid I wouldnt get to worried about it! Imagine being a Scorp with Mercury and Venus in Scorp too, and all in the 1st house!! Jealous...me?! Ah hem..
And theres nothing wrong with a feisty Aries ascendant either!

* Romance
For many Pisces, romance can be the point of transcendence, the point where he or she 'connects' with the divine power that the Fishes feels permeates all things. To be romantically involved with a Pisces is to be introduced to many levels of consciousness and awareness. If you're uncomfortable with this idea then a Pisces is not the mate for you.

* Pisces with Aries rising. Makes you more enterprising and outgoing in addition to being a romantic dreamer.

* Cos i dont know what ur moons in!
With Moon in Aries you will be impatient to express your innermost desires and needs.
With Moon in Taurus Moon in Taurus brings a distinctly practical note to everything that you feel.
With Moon in Gemini you will be need plenty of mental stimulation and lots of romance.
With Moon in Cancer - accentuates your need for and ability to give lots of TLC..
With Moon in Leo you will be a dogmatic romantic.
With Moon in Virgo you be less gullible and more analytical.
With Moon in Libra you will be even more switched on by beauty and harmony.
With Moon in Scorpio you will be even more idealistic and compassionate.
With Moon in Sagittarius you will be more adventurous than the average Piscean.
With Moon in Capricorn you will be more serious about life than the average Piscean.
With Moon in Aquarius you will be more detached emotionally and a lot more unpredictable.
With Moon in Pisces you will be amazingly psychic.

Heres some Venus in Aries info to make u feel better!

* Ordinarily Venus is inclined to passive social interaction, but the initiatory nature of this sign creates a stir. As a result, these natives are not as content to wait for pleasure but seek it actively, creating individuals with outgoing natures. They have little reticence in pursuing the object of their affections. Consequently, women born with this are more likely to ask men out for a date. Men with this position tend to become playboys, and enjoy showing off what they own.
In a diurnal chart, especially if Venus should be oriental (rising before the Sun on the morning of birth) these natives can be very self centered in the pursuit of pleasure and can have coarse manners. This is especially true if Mars should be square or oppose or be copresent. They may be subject to scandalous liasons and social embarrassment, though they may not care.

* Those of you with Venus in Aries could be best described as Cupid with a bow, releasing an arrow aimed at a specific target of your choice. Energetic, youthful and direct, lovers with Venus in Aries will not wait patiently for anything. You are active and forthright, no stranger to competition. Those with this placement are daring, freethinking, variety-seeking and enjoy discovering the bliss of love. Your emotions are changeable, fiery, perhaps even a bit on the explosive side. Although you will probably attract a number of people with your energetic lifestyle, beware of your less positive traits. Your self-centredness (which often borders on total self-absorption) may leave your pursuits wondering if there's room for two in this relationship. Remembering that others may not see things the way you do will enable you to keep things going. You will be happiest in a relationship that allows you to be true to yourself.

* This position of Venus gives a responsive and impulsive love of nature. You are the kind of person who falls in love at first sight and never thinks once before following the dictates of your heart. You are strongly sensual and feel at your most complete when you are emotionally involved with someone. Physical appearance is what first attracts you, but to sustain a love affair you must also find mental compatibility. You are turned off by a sloppy appearance or loud, vulgar behavior. As a Venus Arian you attract friends because of your demonstrative and enthusiastic attitude. You like to bring unexpected gifts to those you love. People with Venus in Aries are a curious mixture of sentimentality and aggressiveness. Your emotions are easily touched but you are also demanding and somewhat selfish. Others shout not expect you to settle down into calm domestic peace; you are too restless and flirtatious, too enamored of amour.

* Venus was in the sign of Aries at the time of your birth. Aries,
a cardinal fire sign can be bold and adventurous, or headstrong
and impulsive. With Venus in this sign, you will tend to be
passionate and impulsive in your reactions to matters concerning
love and affection, with a tendency to jump into things pretty
quickly. You will be persuasive and demonstrative in your
relationships, and not given to putting restraints on your
affections. You will need to control a self-seeking urge in your
relationships and may tend to be rather inconsiderate to those
loved, probably without realising it, due to an insistence on
doing your own thing, and lack of consideration for the other
person's feelings.

* With Venus in Aries, you have an assertive self-expression in romantic situations. Venus in Aries is a demonstrative position, and produces tendencies for you to seek excitement in your love life. Cheerful and positive, you package yourself well. As one who is outgoing and full of enthusiasm, you're great in social situations. You are fun and exciting, and to more timid souls, a bit overwhelming. Outgoing, affectionate, and sometimes flirtatious, you become competitive in seeking the affections of others. Romance is living for you. Romantic involvement is like a competition to be won, and you are not a particularly good loser. When you love life is not going well, you are irritable and very moody. Easily aroused, you have an instinct for romantic challenge and conquest. You are direct and aggressive in love endeavors. In attracting a lover, you are direct and full of adventure and enthusiasm. You have a dangerous tendency to fall in love at first sight, or at least quicker than most people. Yet, you can be somewhat impulsive and unstable where long term romance is concerned. The romantic nature is impatient and careless sometimes. You don't take enough time to make long range plans or for truly needed practical considerations. Not surprisingly, early marriages are common with Venus in Aries.

* Venus in Aries: activates the expression of affection. Liz Taylor has this placement (and her Venus sits close to Uranus, planet of sudden, unexpected change; what a surprise). So did Marilyn Monroe and Jean Harlow. Julian Armistead once gave a lecture on Liz Taylor’s horoscope. He pointed out that Venus in Aries people need constant excitement in relationships. When things finally slow down and get comfortable, they start looking elsewhere.

Aries Rising info:

* ARIES ASCENDANT
With the cardinal fire sign of Aries rising at the time of your
birth, you will approach life directly and forcefully. You will
have a need to be noticed, for people to accept you as you are.
As a result, your manner may at times be rather abrupt and often
upsetting to others. You may feel that life is a battle which
needs to be fought to win and you will not have much tolerance
for people who stand in the way of you getting what you want.

You are a “live wire”, full of physical energy and enthusiasm,
Äalways ready to take on a challenge, but you will need to temper
your energy with some consideration for others who may be less
enthusiastic, if you want to achieve some balance and harmony in
your relationships.
As Aries is ruled by Mars the house position and aspects to this
planet will be of particular importance in your chart.
(Look at what house Mars is in to learn more.)

* You are bold and impulsive, tending to act first and ask questions later. You come on strong, and others may experience you as somewhat self-centered and possibly arrogant. You appear to be single-minded and daring — a leader.

* ME ME ME!!! Me first! Impulsive and decisive Aries loves to drive and push forward. Life for this person is viewed as a challenge, as an adventure. If denied expression, then one can expect illness and/or angry outbursts around the corner! This energy is very much an outgoing one and needs freedom to explore and express. There is usually an innate aggressiveness which can even be noticed in speech - "Tell me about it!" becomes a demand for information rather than a request to know more...
Many Arians (rising sign) have a typical long triangular shaped face. The eyes, as for most fire signs are deeply set with the brow close to the eyes. The hair is often coarse, wiry and dark. Men may have a thick head of hair when young but some do have a tendency for baldness in later years. Women tend to wear their hair long and straight - no 'frills' for them! As can be expected with the God of War, there can be quite a martial feel about those with Aries rising.
Aries is a fire sign and ruled by Mars. The house position of Mars and aspects to Mars will determine more of the personal personality traits for this person, as will birth chart aspects of other planets to the Ascendant. The mythology of Mars/Ares is of particular relevance to those with this rising sign.
You are young at heart and very enthusiastic in the way you handle life's challenges. You like to tackle things head-on, and impulsively cast yourself into the fray. You probably have to struggle with a considerable temperament, but basically you are innocent and naive with very few bad intentions. You have a direct and honest style. You do not like anyone tampering with your freedom or telling you what to do. This means that you are attracted to the kind of partner who is willing to go along with your point of view, and follow your lead in most matters. In a sense you are egocentric, because you give your own goals first priority. Nevertheless it is important for you to stand out amongst others as an individual, and to be a pioneer in one way or the other. Partnership will mellow you, and you may be able to learn the spirit of compromise as you get older.

More- Aries in the Ascendant Position

Decanate - a decan is one of three 10° divisions for each signs 30°. In other words each sign has three, 10° decans. The three decans are divided according to the element of the sign itself, which governs the first decan. The second decan is governed by the next following sign of that same element, and the third by the third sign of that element. Thus, the first decan of Aries is governed by Aries itself; the second decan by Leo; and the third by Sagittarius. It must also be noted that the planetary ruler of the decan is the same as the ruler of the sign governing that decan. In other words, the first decan of Aries is ruled by Mars the planetary ruler of Aries, the second decan of Aries then is ruled by the Sun, the natural ruler of Leo, the third decan of Aries is ruled by Jupiter the planetary ruler of Sagittarius.

1st Decan of Aries

When the 1st Decan of Aries rises, it denotes a frank, open, out-spoken and free-handed disposition. The fate of this native is embodied in the native's impulsive and headstrong tendencies, also in his fearless pioneering and progressive spirit. He is ambitious and desirous of rising on the world and he will not ignore opportunity. He is very fond of acquiring knowledge and is keen in all intellectual pursuits. The position and aspects of Mars must he weighed thoroughly.

2nd Decan of Aries

When the second Decan is rising we must consider the influence of Leo and the position of the Sun very carefully. The aspect between the Sun and Mars, if there is one, should be delineated completely.

The 2nd Decan rising modifies the tendency to words ambition and rashness. Fate is influenced by ambition and emotion, the vitality is increased, and the character is strengthened morally.

3rd Decan of Aries

Now we must consider the power of Sagittarius and the position and aspects of Jupiter. Any aspect between the Sun and Jupiter is of tremendous value.

The 3rd Decan rising inevitably makes the whole sign more fortunate. It augments the desire for demonstration and expression and attracts the native towards the philosophic and religious sides of life. It stimulates idealism and increases impulsiveness.

'Afflictions: The afflictions to the planets and houses are caused by the close conjunction or aspect (within five degrees) of the functional malefic planets in a natal chart. Whenever a weak planet is afflicted by a functional malefic planet, the results of its significations manifest with delay, or suffer altogether. Afflictions in the natal chart cause damage during the entire sub period of the weak planet or of the afflicting planets. Afflictions to the weak planet during the transit influences cause only short-term damage, and last only for the duration of the operating transit influence.' http://www.astroview.com/e_system.html

But basically, afflicted means badly aspected, or 'bad aspects' such as squares and oppositions, like VTT said.

Afflicted houses info-
'1 House Head
2 House Face (including the neck)
3 House Neck, upper portion of the chest and arms.
(some include throat in 3rd house)
4 House Heart, breasts, portion above the stomach
5 House The stomach, portion above the navel
6 House Part below navel and above Basti
7 House Basti.
8 House Genitals, anus
9 House Thighs, hips
10 House The two knees, back
11 House Calves of legs
12 House Feet

If any house is afflicted, the corresponding part of the body will suffer. If any house is strong, the corresponding parts of the body will be strong. ' http://vedic.indastro.com/learn-astrology/signs.php

This is a bit off topic, but interesting natal chart analyses! http://www.yarzheit.com/jonny/planets.htm

Pleasure Neptune!
Well, as you have Aries (ruled by Mars) rising, Mars is quite significant in your chart.
Mars in the 12th house actually gives you an extra Pisces qualities, as it rules that house.

~ Meaning of 12th house
The secrets that a person holds, subconscious thoughts or motives, any secret enemies here may be against the person, deeply rooted behaviors, the past.

~ The action of Mars in the 12th house, is to a large extent unconscious and difficult to express overtly. You may have a vague sense of irritation or anger, the source of which you cannot put your finger on, a feeling that life has dealt you a bad deal or does not live up to your expectations and desires. You are not fully conscious of many of your motivations, and unable to express your own aggression directly, there is a danger of provoking others into expressing your anger for you, or of expressing it at inappropriate moments. With Mars in the house of self-undoing, you have to beware that you do not become your own worst enemy.
You are able to place the needs of another person or group before your own and fight willingly on their behalf, at these times you can display your Martian energy in its purest form, for good or ill. Your willingness to give over your individual ego to a cause comes from a deep-seated conviction that we are all a part of the greater whole, and sometimes the needs of the greater whole are more important than the needs of the individual.
However, you need to be very discriminating about the nature of the group or cause to which you give yourself, since you are very sensitive to aggressive vibes in the atmosphere around you, making you susceptible to the influence of group hysteria or mob violence.
