Obviously, this person would find it difficult to adapt and change, huh? Anyone have any experience with this, including just plain old firsthand observation?

Thanks.

I'm a fixed trio as well.

When I was younger, I was SO stubborn! There wasn't anything that I was gonna do that I didn't want to do.

As an adult though, I realize that change is great, and how do you get high on life without trying new things and being open, spontanious (sp), changing, exploring?? Stubborn=boring in most cases. Some things I will still put my foot down about, but most things? Who cares! Life's not perfect. I'm not going to get my way everytime, and it's too stressful and time consuming to try.

Yup!!
My Mum is a Taurus with an opposite Scorpio moon and an Aquarius ascendant! lol!

She finds life quite difficult, sometimes gets very depressed, is very reliable and strong, stubborn, hates confusing changes; but is very interested in changing and developing herself psychologically and emotionally, and others, for the better, she dosn't like people who are unreliable, goes back on their word, lie, or behave rudely or dominate, she has some problems with authority, bit of a rebel, very passionate in her likes and dislikes, very intuitive, shes very stable but sometimes quite insecure and occasionaly gets very nervous and neurotic but hates it if other people do the same and also she likes changes that she initiates; but not other people unexpectedly, she likes new people and new experiences, gets bored easily, is very honourable and fair, independant..... um .... I cant think of anything else!!

Hope this helps, can u think of anything else u want to know? Hope I haven't veered off the question to much lol!!

Oh, also, she hates it if I do certain things, but if I explain why Im doing them, or ask her why it upsets her so much, then she calms down and we'll talk, and most of the time she accepts that and its not a problem anymore. Its like a fixed need to understand things from their point of view and they hate feeling dismissed, ignored or un-important when their upset about something. (Im a bit like that too!! Only fixed sun tho.)

My mom also has a sun in Leo, Aquarius moon, and Taurus ascendent. Her and I are very close but often when having a discussion about something that she see's differently, or doesn't quite understand, or requires SPONTENAITY, oh, boy, I can feel her energy becomes something akin to a huge BRICK WALL...and she's not budging. She shares these same characteristics, like Sun-Scorpio's mom, "sometimes gets very depressed, is very reliable and strong, stubborn, hates confusing changes; but is very interested in changing and developing herself psychologically and emotionally, and others, for the better". All in all, she's great, though, because although she has a difficult time changing and adjusting her opinion or understanding of something, what she does do, understand, or beleive in, is firm and does not waver.
I heard it said that the four fixed signs will one day take their angel forms (did Linda say that? can't remember) because once they acheive various states of "enlightenment", it is more permanent. Whoever said that also talked about how some of the very old big churches often have the four fixed signs (the eagle, bull, water-bearer, and lion) carved up in the four corners of the cathedrals.

I have two out of three... Sun in Aqua and moon in Leo.. Aries rising though. That sure makes things interesting!

I do have a really hard time letting go of my beliefs. I will admit when I am not right, but hell if I will change my mind about something regarding my personal ethics or morals.

My impractical and hyperactive ascending often get me in trouble as far as impulsiveness is concerned... but for me the 'fixed' banner mostly just waves over internal stuff... thoughts and feelings about MY life. Where I am and who I'm with can change like socks...

Yea, Ghani...see, that's awesome that you stand behind your personal ethics/morals. I'm the same way...and have a fixed moon with lots of Libra elsewhere in my chart. As far as my mom with her astro placements, well, I don't know...guess I've never seen her have to defend her morals...she just has a hard time moving from an opinion about things in general...not that it's a bad thing at all...she's just really slow about it and once she's adopted a new idea, it's kinda like, carved in stone. She's great.

I have 2 out of 3: Fixed Moon (Leo) & Ascendant (Aquarius)

..And I am VERY stubborn. It was especially true when I was a child. I was stubborn about anything I didn't want to do. For the longest time I refused to learn to read, even after I started school. Although once I finally gave in and started reading at 6 years old, I discovered that I actually loved it. lol

I am Fixed Sun and Ascendant, but I have more Fixedness than anything in my chart.
I am actually a lot like Sun Scorp's mom.. but I will change.. I enjoy change. I just like to understand things.
The more I understand how my boorish, one way tendencies can suck like a mutha'.. the more inclined I am to change and overcome.
Maybe that has to do with the Progression? (Sun in Sagittarius) As I get older, I become more malleable, yet more sure of who I am and what I bring to the table. Always willing to expand that as well.

Maybe I'm deviating from the topic somewhat but my natal sun, moon and ascendant are all in Cardinal Signs. And I always never seem to finish what I've started. Also, I get bored easily. For example, I'd buy a certain brand of shampoo to use. Then before a quarter of the bottle is used up, I'd get another brand...

The same goes for other stuff like beverages, other hygiene products, cookies etc etc.

Hey StarofPluto! You know you said your Moms similar to mine, I wonder if its got something to do with having Fixed opposite sun and moon aswell? (Like my Mums Taurus/Scorp, yours is Leo/Aqua.) Interesting!!
And I love that theory about the four signs taking their angel forms!! I think it was Linda, in one of her books, maybe Love signs?

Hey Hailstorm!! I can totally relate to what your saying, having a 'multi-tasking, gets-bored-quickly, loves-new-things' Gemini moon I know exactly what you mean!! Do you have any Gemini/mutable in your chart too?
I often feel like I have to have a couple of things going on at once, and if one gets boring I can quickly switch to the other thing and keep it all fresh!! Also feel happiest when I know Ive got several things planned, like maybe theres a good meal, great film on and some friends around all at the same time and Im really happy lol!!
I find it very hard to finish something too, unless Im really dedicated to it, or my Scorp sun digs in.

Taurus sun
Aquarius moon
Leo ascendant

I am seriously stubborn, to the point of stupidity sometimes. However, I am not averse to change at all and I mostly encourage it. I had a very hectic childhood though, so maybe I just learned to adapt to change through that. I have a fair bit of ego, and I can be a bit self obsessed. Vanity consumes me and I often cut off my nose to spite my face!

I'm a cheerful person though, and you can trust me with your life!

My younger sister is Leo sun, Scorpio moon, Scorpio ascendant, and is just about the most intense person I have ever met. She's quite irresponsible, but as you'd imagine, she's seriously sexy stuff!!!

I wouldn't mind having a fixed sun, mutable moon and a cardinal ascendant, but I'm pretty happy with what I've got! Any other really fixed peeps out there?!

Oh, I forgot to add one thing.

The only time change upsets me, is if something that meant a lot to me when I was younger, is destroyed. For example, 2 pubs that I used to go to, were knocked down in the last few years to make way for new devlopments. It annoyed me because they were old pubs with plenty of character and full of my memories. I see their demise as unforgivable, because they were personal to me and what they have put in their places now is bland and soulless. I guess I'm quite nostalgic like that, (something that goes against me foward thinking aquarius moon!)

But I try and find a new route to walk my son home from school every day! Weird!!!

2 CARDINALS AND A FIXED. OY VEY. ONCE I GET AN IDEA IN MY HEAD, IT'S VERY HARD TO LEAVE IT, EVEN IF IT IS JUST AN IDEA OR FANTASY...

WHICH MAKES SENSE
HERE'S SOME USEFUL INFO:

The word "cardinal" comes from the French "cardo" meaning a hinge, that on which something turns. It is the most important part. The cardinal directions are the north, south, east and west. They are the times when the seasons change. Aries for Spring; Cancer for Summer; Libra for Autumn; and Capricorn for Winter. They therefore are times for a new beginning.

In Astrology, the cardinal signs are the first, fourth, seventh and tenth (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn). These signs are characterised by enterprise, or starting things.

Sometimes Aries and Libra are called equinox signs, and Cancer and Capricorn are called solstice signs. Equinoxes are times of perfect balance between day and night (day and night are 12 hours long). The solstice times are the times of the longest day (Cancer) and the longest night (Capricorn).

Aries and Libra are times of balance, but also times of abrupt change. Cancer and Capricorn are times of extremes.

The word "fixed" means securely placed and fastened and implies unchanging. In Astrology, the fixed signs are the second, fifth, eighth and eleventh (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius). They are characterised by the keyword "stability" or firm and dependable.

The word "mutable" means "subject to change". The mutable signs are the third, sixth, ninth and twelfth (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces). The keyword for these is "adaptability".

The diagram below shows the zodiac in its natural form, with Aries in the first position (the start of spring) and the signs on their natural angles. The arrow to the left is called the Ascendant (Asc) and the one pointing upwards is called the Mid Heaven (MC). The four quarters of the circle contain the three signs of each quadruplicity.

The table below shows the quadruplicities:

Quadruplicity Signs
Keywords
Cardinal Aries Cancer Libra Capricorn Enterprise
Fixed Taurus Leo Scorpio Aquarius Stability
Mutable Gemini Virgo Sagittarius Pisces Adaptability

The sequence of cardinal (create, begin, ), fixed (change or maintain) and mutable (change to something else, end, destroy) is part of all the things we experience in the world. This pattern recurs through the horoscope in the quarters of the zodiac. Because these are four groups (or quarters) they are called quadruplicities.

The following table shows the relationship between cardinal, fixed and mutable and other cycles of action:

Cardinal Fixed Mutable
Start Change Stop
Create Maintain Destroy
Begin Continue End
Birth Growth Death

Cardinal Signs
The cardinal signs are associated with starting things, initiating things or being "enterprising". They are forceful and aggressive and have the will to accomplish something, often something new. They project into the world. They are creative in the sense that they cause things and start things.

Aries () people will do this energetically and urgently (or impatiently). They cannot wait to do what they have in mind to do and that which is motivated by their enthusiasm.

Cancer () people are emotionally assertive. They project emotion in a protective and sensitive way.

Librans () do it in a balanced way, considering the viewpoints of others. Because they are people of air, they are more likely to project in a verbal way, compared with Aries who take action on their enthusiasm. Librans will tend to use language to cause others to take the necessary action.

Capricorn () projects in a practical, down to earth manner. It takes action based on practical need, and success.

Fixed Signs
The fixed signs are concerned with maintaining something, changing things so they are the same as before, or stabilising things. Fixed and changed appear to be contradictory. Imagine a house. Every day it gets untidy and dirty. In order to keep it in its "normal" state, it must be changed - cleaned, tidied, etc - so it remains the same. A body needs to be regularly fed and watered if it is to maintain its state of being alive. There appears to be no change because there is a lot of change directed to maintain a state, such as a clean house and a living body. Another example is a field. If the field is not maintained (lots of change, like ploughing, setting seed, weeding, etc) then the field will disappear as Nature reclaims it. What is fixed is the clean house, the living body and the field. What is changed is all the things that keep, for example a field, a field and not a wilderness.

Taurus () wants to make the products of the self, sometimes material wealth, permanent and fixed. Taurans do not like changes in their wealth. You might think this is true of everyone, however some people do not measure their lives by the wealth they accumulate and these people are far less upset than Taurans when their personal wealth is threatened.

Leo () wants to keep its personal power. It wants to be impressive and creative and keep this relationship with others. It makes changes so that it remains in its power state.

Scorpio () is fixed in terms of their emotional reactions. It feels more secure when they know what feelings other have. Scorpio makes changes, that is seeks to know the deep emotions that others have which motivate them.

Aquarius () wants to keep their beliefs, etc concerning humanity fixed. Aquarians seek to keep their friends. If they are revolutionaries, then they remain revolutionaries.

Mutable Signs
Mutable signs are concerned with changing things into something else. This is not transforming as much as it moving on to something else. The emphasis is on adaptability in the sense that while the fixed signs resist change, the mutable signs accept it. The mutable signs end a cycle and lead on to the beginning of the new quadruplicity.

Gemini () is a sign of the air and therefore is concerned with communication, words and the mind. Geminis will adapt themselves to their environment and therefore not cause things to persist. While the fixed signs adapt the environment to their needs, wants and goals, the mutable signs adapt their needs, wants and goals to the environment. If the field grows weeds, they adapt themselves to them. And if the field becomes a wilderness, they adapt themselves to the wilderness. In this way they cease to make the changes necessary to keep things as they are, and allow almost any kind of change. This is true of all the mutable signs. This is not to say that mutable signs never resist change, or that they never try to achieve goals at odds with the envrionment, but it is to say they are more likely to give up or to give in than the fixed signs are.

Virgo () is critical and analytical. In this way, Virgo brings to an end something which was previously believed.

Sagittarius () is the ninth sign. It is a sign of fire. While it is a seeker of knowledge, its keyphrase is "I know". Sagittarius brings about the end of ignorance by discovering the truth, according to Sagittarius so that it seeks final knowledge (the end of knowledge).

Pisces () brings about the end of emotions through dissolving into the oneness of all things.

yEAH, GOOD OLD PISCES AND THE END OF EMOTIONS. SIGH...

I have Sun in Taurus, Moon in Aquarius, and Rising in Leo.

I'd call myself a pretty stubborn person when I believe I am absolutely right, which is most of the time (because I am :P). However, I am a very adaptable person. Like someone else mentioned, I did have some sort of a hectic childhood but nonetheless I'd call myself a "go with the flow" sort of person.

I'm an incredibly confident person and I maintain this by my indifference to my image. Although I do closely analyze it, I don't try to make it something that it isn't.

I too can be very stubborn lol. I don't like unexpected change, but paradoxically also get bored easily and need to be spontaneous (probably my gemini rising).
