Anyone else have a sadder tale of love and loss to share? Wonder what their charts looked like though ... IP: Logged |

have you checked to see where your psyche and cupid are? cupid is asteroid 763 and psyche is 16. on astro.com you can just type those numbers in to the asteroid prompter at the bottom of the 'extended chart selection' page.the asteroid cupido seems to link to visual things,”vanity; concern about appearances (inc. the idea of keeping up appearances and doing things for the sake of appearances); art and beauty interests; relationship concerns; attraction; the face or complexion; the look of something.” -- from Introduction to the Asteroids: Treehouse Mountain Astrology: http://www.treehousemountain.com/html/keywords.html think of cupido as a minor energy, that activates the look of love, the feel of love, what we see as attractive, how we respond to attraction. whatever it contacts in your own chart will add to this. mars heats it up, jupiter makes it exuberant, saturn could limit or restrict. psyche is a longing to connect and an intuitive link. from treehouse mountain: "recognition of childhood trauma; raw wounds psychologically; vulnerability; memories; insight; psychic impressionability; psychological recovery; the state of your mental health; head wounds; brain states." my psyche is in gemini in the 9th house, and my cupid is in taurus in the 8th house. what's yours in - what do you feel are the effects of the placements, if any? sincerely, chrissy IP: Logged |

Wow! Knew Id come up with an Astro similie for this one if I dug deep enough!Well, Chrissy, Cupid was the Son of Venus, the Goddess of beauty. Psyche was a mere mortal who was so beautiful that Venus got jealous and sent her son to break her heart. But Cupid fell in love with her and to escape his mother's wrath, married her in secret. She was very happy even though she did not know the true nature of her husband. But one day her sisters turned her against him by arousing her suspicions and ultimately she lost him ... then she pined for him and had to spend years yearning for him .... So kinda makes sense right? I will check out that website right now. Thanks IP: Logged |

oh no, asteroid 763 cupido and asteroid 16 eros are different bodies. treehouse mountain has a good amount of info on asteroids: http://www.treehousemountain.com/thoughts.htm click on astrological keywords I & II for a nice list on some pertinent asteroids. kim falconer has a great site, too. http://www.nrg.com.au/~d-falcon/Eros_in_the_Signs_of_the_Zodiac.htm# and here's a direct link to the section on compatibility: http://www.nrg.com.au/~d-falcon/Eros_by_Transit_or_Progression.htm she lists some asteroids she thinks are important to check with regard to relationship & romance. maya's original post provided a link about the story of cupid and psyche, but i thought i'd bring up the actual asteroids because i think they're related - i like reading the myths, and then checking to see what my asteroids are "in" (what sign, house, and aspects they make), because i've found some astounding connections! sincerely, chrissy

hey maya- I love the story of Psyche and Cupid- full of wisdom indeed! In the version I read, things work out for them in the end- Psyche was made immortal and, well here is what my book says: "So all came to a most happy end. Love and the Soul (for this is what Psyche means) had sought, and after some trials, found each other; amd that union could never be broken"IP: Logged |

oh yes, duality, you're right.eros, in greek religion and mythology, was the god of love. he was the personification of love in all its manifestations, including physical passion at its strongest, tender, romantic love, and playful, sportive love. according to some legends he was one of the oldest of the gods, born from chaos and personifying creative power and harmony. in most legends he was the son of aphrodite and ares and was represented as a winged youth armed with bow and arrows. in greek poetry eros was often a willful and unsympathetic god, carelessly dispensing the frenzies and agonies of love. at thespiae and at athens he was worshiped as a god of fertility. in hellenistic and roman myth, he was represented as a naked, winged child, the son and companion of venus. to the romans he was cupid, or amor. eros was sometimes attended by his brother, anteros, who was said to be the avenger of unrequited love or the opposer of love. (that came from my encyclopedia, i didn't pull that out off the top of my head, by the way.) c

Im not so well versed in ancient mythology. All I loved was the pathos in the story - even if it was a million years ago and evenif it might not be real - isnt it how we feel everytime we lose someone - through something stupid that we failed to see or didnt do?
