Astrology and the Household ClockI often see questions in this forum about free choice, how planets affect us on a personal level, and so forth, so I thought that I would run this buy you all. This is just my view of this subject, and perhaps will serve to help you all begin to think about how astrology relates to your life.
Let’s start with the Mom on a Monday morning after a rough weekend. She knows from experience that she has to get up by 5:30AM in order to get her three kids and husband off to school and work respectively. She has her routine pretty much down pat; starting the coffee pot at 5:30AM when she first gets up, getting some private time in the bathroom, getting the kid’s lunches together, and preparing some sort of breakfast for the family.
At 5:50 AM she wakes her Husband so he can get in the bathroom before their teenagers, and continues to prepare breakfast. At 6:00 AM she wakes the kids (the first time) and continues preparing breakfast. By 6:30 most of the kids are up and starting on their various breakfasts. Of course there is always one that has to be called two or three times.
By 7 AM she has the kids feed, lunches in hand, and out the door to wait on the school bus. Hubby is gone as well, and she settles in for her breakfast and a little peace and quiet before her favorite morning show comes on and her day starts.
You might well ask what this has got to do with astrology. Consider that everything in her morning is set by the time indicated by the clock, an abstract concept that she has no control over. If she had no idea of what time was as represented by the clock, there would be no way to organize her day in our modern world. She does however have freewill. She, like some of us, can throw the clock across the room when it rings and go back to sleep for that extra hour or so. Her freewill action however doesn’t change the fact that the kids and hubby have to get to school and work on time. By acting on her freewill, she may well end up having to drive the kids to school, not have time to make a good lunch for them, miss her favorite program and generally have a bad start to the day. I’m sure that there are parents out there who have seen this play out many times in their life.
Ok, now what this has to do with astrology is that the timing of conditions in our life is indicated by our transits to our natal chart. It doesn’t matter one bit if we are aware of that timing, the affects are still there. If we are aware of our transits however, and having free choice, we can decide to fight the influences indicated by our transits, or use them to our advantage.
Notice that I didn’t say that the transiting planets caused our conditions, only that they indicated the timing. Just like the clock, our transits provide timing information that can help us in our life planning, or choose to ignore.
