Does anyone know for sure which of the 10th and 4th houses is the mother and which is the father? I have seen either one representing either...I've also read something that had this huge explanation of how one could mean one parent in one person's chart but switched in another's chart for whatever reason. I really have no idea which is true, and I cannot figure it out with my own transits because I have Chiron passing over the 10th house AND Saturn passing over my 4th (talk about absolute hell with both my parents)!!! They can mean either parent, it has to do more with the emotional side of that parent. They say the 4th is childhood, the parent that rules that time, and the 10th adulthood and that parent. So it depends on which parent was more available as a child-that is the 4th. I know a man whose father was always around as a child-Saturn in the 4th natally-his mother was there later on. Natasha

Sorry to hear about the folks, VTT.I don't know about you, but I come from a family wherein the traditional roles were swapped. Saturn in my chart clearly indicates my mother, and the Moon is my father, no question. He is an Aquarius, albeit a conservative one, with a very lunar parenting style. He is caring, moody, and loves to cook. She is a Virgo with her Moon Conjunct Pluto in Leo, in the 3rd (I like to think of her as the "uber-virgin"). She weeps openly over her pulp romances and lifetime for women made-for-tv movies, but mano-y-mano, she tends to be just a tad insensitive, no, actually, the word is insensible.... like Al Gore,... if he were dead. (Just Kidding!!!) But seriously, her sense of humor is harder to locate than her pulse. She can be extremely authoritative and purposeful, but secretly very insecure. He is openly insecure, and frequently hams it up. It's taken them decades to work out the bugs, but they are so much happier now that they've shed their societal prejudices, and allowed eachother to be who they really are. To paraphrase Weezer, - he brings home the turkey, and she brings home the bacon, and its only occassionally a weird scene. Actually, their Chinese Zodiac Signs fit them really well. She is a domineering workaholic (Rat), and he is a good-natured doormat (Pig). Like a lot of things, it either cuts both ways, or balances out like a charm.

Thanks Natasha! I think it makes sense too with my chart..that'd make my mom the 4th house and my dad 10th. HSC - traditional roles were swapped in a sense but all the way. My mom still happens to be the moon and my dad the sun. (Unless there's a hidden planet that signifies morons). Yay for Weezer! IP: Logged |

I'm trying to find some good info I have on this. The fourth house, ruled by Cancer often represents the mother and the 10th house, Capricorn, the father. But this is NOT always the case. As was said, the roles are often reversed and many other factors come into play. I'll get back to this when I find the info. Something I've always found interesting, my mother's Saturn is in my 10th house of "father" and she was the mother AND the father figure in my life. She's also a Cancer. And her Saturn is EXACTLY opposite my Sun. Yeah, we didnt get along too well for a long time. IP: Logged |

Maternal Moon (Moon) Father Time (Saturn)But there are a few variations, however, I think of them in that way. ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged | |
