Here's a great interpretation of Pluto in the 8th. This is one of the best interpretations of this I have seen. I find it to be very true with me and wonder how other people with this placement experience it.

quote:
This is the true house of education for it is concerned with progress of every kind, moral, mental, and spiritual. The house that is always important in charts of those strongly interested in movements of progress and reform. Its gloomy title as the "house of death" is appropriate only because death is the greatest step forward known to us at our present stage of evolution. If Pluto is badly aspected here it makes it easy to choose the path of degeneration, if that is the way an individual cna learn the most. It need not be. With Pluto in this house there will be no standing still. One has to die to the old self and undergo rebirth while still in the body. There are no misty flats or drifting to and fro. It can mean a long life if the life force is not wasted. Heavy afflictions could mean the degeneration of the energies through dissipation and sensuality.

This house represents the entrance to the next dimension. It rules the psychic senses and out-of-body experiences. If Pluto is well aspected to Neptune and Mars the native may be clairvoyant.

No one but the person himself can help the person with Pluto in this house come to victory over his appetities and desires. There must be no desire to control others but a sincere desire to help others find and use their own resources. Finacial independence can come through a legacy. The aspect vetween Pluto and Mars will be very important with Pluto in this house. If one uses others for one's own ends there are drastic and violent repercussions.

With rebirth through regeneration comes the wisdom of Minerva. The death of the personality and the birth of the soul power is the promise of the higher side of Pluto. One goes into the darkness to find the light. Insight, self mastery, and the ability to stand alone, if need be, are the gifts of Minerva in this house.

Thanks 26T! Don't you also have the sun in the 8th?

Because Pluto is in conjunction with Merc & Sun which are both squared to Mars, does it make Mars squared to Pluto also??? If I remember correctly I don't think Mars squared Pluto is a very nice aspect to have, yikes...lol

My Pluto is located just barely over the 9th house cusp. I think both 8th and 9th house interpretations seem to fit me pretty well.

Pluto square or opposite Mars
Your energy has a way of getting away from you. You haven't yet learned to instinctively spot your stopping point and thus could wear yourself out through a relentless pursuit of your goals. A certain ruthlessness marks your actions when someone tries to thwart you. When you meet an obstacle, you are likely to force it out of your way without thinking of other people or the consequences of your behavior. At work and home, don't expect others to keep up with your hard-driving pace. To preserve your energy for the future, learn to pace yourself. Consistency and persistence bring you more success than sudden bursts of frenetic energy.

wow thanks 26 ... u got me off thinking in lala world bout Pluto now. I started searchign some stuff and the aspects between my pluto. What grabbed me was that pluto / neptune aspect, or mars for that matter. I dont have the later but I do have Neptune. A sextile. I found this rather interesting too, to add to the mystic wonders of pluto ...
1971-1983: Neputune in Sagittarius sextile Pluto in Libra

These people will have completely revised attitudes about religion, philosophy, education, and human relationships. Religion will be restored to a place of usefulness in your daily lives. It will hardly resemble the religion of your elders, but it will be a far more vital element in your life. You have faith not just because your forebears accepted it, but because it adds meanining to your life and makes you responsible to others for your actions. Your faith adds to your search for perfection while you make any contribution to society that will help to bring about that state. You are deeply concerned for your fellow man, and are willing to make compromises in your desires if it will prove beneficial to others in the long run.

You will insist on the integrity of those you select for your leaders, and will demand that they truly represent the electorate. You will want schools to re-emphasize the humanities in education, and give students the opportunity to choose professions that serve man rather than the tight, confining specialization of industry.

You will also show increased interest in the occult, and be responsible for major developments in the fields of extrasensory perception and alpha states of consciousness. You will open new dimensions of the mind, and explore them for unlimited resources, which are denied to the more materialistic investigator.

Hello my fellow 8th house Pluto's. Glad you liked the info.

Noreenz, No, my Sun is in the 4th. I cant see your chart that well but it looks like you've got alot of 8th house energy going on there! You can see if they are in aspect by that little key on the bottom of the chart and it depends on degrees. From what I can see your Mars and Pluto are unaspected. So that's kind of a good thing! At least theyre not in a harsh aspect to each other!

HeartShaped, Hey! Yeah, our charts are pretty similar. My Pluto is nearing the 9th but is still in the 8th. I do feel I can relate to Pluto in the 9th sometimes though. I can definitely see you as a 9th house Pluto person.

Hi Eleanore, Do you have Pl. square Ma? Luckily in my chart they are sextiling each other. It's a pretty powerful aspect in my chart. Along with Mars square Uranus.

Hey angel! Yes Pluto is one planet well worth looking deeply into. Lots of layers there. Where is he in your chart? That was a great interpretation of Nep. sex. Pluto. I share that aspect with you as well. Here's another great link on Pluto though the houses - very informative: http://groups.msn.com/HOROSCOPESCHAT/pluto.msnw

My Pl's in 8th conj Ur and square Sun, Mars, Venus and Merc! It also opposes the Moon. Would that be considered an "afflicted Pl"?

Yup. 8th house Pluto square 11th house Mars. Pluto is also sextile Sun, sextile Neptune, trine Ascendant, semisquare Midheaven, and quintile North Node. My 8th house is actually pretty busy with Saturn and Jupiter, as well, plus Juno and Lilith. Virgo rules the house but everything is in Libra. Go figure.
Everyone always says such terribly bad things about the 8th house but I haven't found the majority of it to be true.
With the Pluto square Mars aspect I find it to be true that my energy does have a way of getting away from me if not careful ... so I've learned to be more careful. I've learned to pace myself to do things over time instead of trying to get everything done at once, and I sure don't expect anyone to keep up with me. Oddly enough, I learned this before I read anything on this aspect. However, I don't find it true that I don't think about other people or the consequences of my actions when I meet an obstacle. On the contrary, I've always been sure to take careful stock of the situation before moving ahead. And the only ruthlessness in my actions is when someone tries to thwart me in a video game.

Well, as you know the 9th house is all about "higher learning, understanding, the realm of the superconscious mind and deeply ingrained religious philosophy of the self" also intutition, insperation, and spiritual vision. Expansions of both the mental and spiritual horizons.

To sum it up in one sentence....."With Pluto placed in the 9th house of the superconsicious mind there is emotional intensity and an intense desire to know and understand life."

I think that sounds alot like you. It's just an intuition. Knowing the little bit of you that I do, I think Pluto in the 9th fits you well. Do you agree?

Certainly, Agent 26.

In fact, the 9th house is stressed by a number of elements in my chart. It would bore you to hear all of them. Suffice it to say that my Sun is in there somewhere.

You've got remarkable eyes, you know that?

ROFLAO! Uhhhhh....*nervous voice* Sure.....okay.

"this weeks obsession". Why do you Scorps get so obsessed with people? .....places...things...anything and everything.... I'll never understand it, but I am used to dealing with it. I've had a lotta obsessive Scorps in my life.

Anyway, sure here you go and then I'm off to bed.

Sounds like a Wu-Tang jam:

"Why is the sky blue?;
Why is water wet?;
'Why do you Scorps get so obsessed?'"

But I think the Beatles said it best:

"Because the sky is blue,
it makes me cry..."

Because the sky is blue.

Wu Tang and the Beatles. Love them both. Great answer.

Hi Eleanore,

Wow, lot of stuff going on there. My 8th contains my Moon conj. NN along with Pluto. I agree, I dont see what the fuss is with the 8th. I happen to like that aspect of my chart. People get scared because it's the "house of death", among other things. It gets a bad rap sometimes. Sounds like youve got the energy of the Pluto Mars aspect under control for the most part.
Haha "when someone tries to thwart you in a video game", that'll do it! Well Pluto isnt ALWAYS a ruthless killer. He is also about transformation and rebirth, as you know. I kind of like the guy. I think there is a certain amount of ....comfortableness, understanding of his nature when he is "at home" in the 8th.
