Topic: TIPS when posting... for the sake of learning something

there have been a ton of topics when people tell about their own experiences in order to find some sort of astrological connection or pattern, or explanation...
the problem is..... let me give u one example: topic - who r u attracted to?(reason for topic: trying to figure out a CONNECTION bewteen the chart and the partner choices!!!!!)
many of the answer are like this: I'm attracted to.... or I love.... GREAT! BUT
when I'm reading this post I DON"T KNOW UR CHART!!!!!!! if i don't know any astrological info on you, I cannot make ANY connection what-so-ever!!!!!!!! sure! IF u put ur data in ur profile, i could search etc... but that would be very complicated. it woud be reasonable, however if each of us would understand the purpose of a topic and of our being here - learning something! sure, posting ur whole data each time u post would be too much, but one could try to figure out a connection and post that too, not just their life facts.... "my dad's moon was gemini, and I'm attracted to.... and funny thing, I have gem on the th cusp  " or... put in, maybe as a signiture, some basic info: personal planets signs, ascendant, ...something like that. NO< NOT just the sun sign! that's irrelevant most times. for each topic, certain aspects are relevant. each of us, when posting, could actually PUT THAT IN - MAKE THE CONNECTION, not just share life facts... this way, we could have the life-facts, thoughts-and-feelings AND astrological info all in one place, and we could actually learn something what do u guys say???

Fair enough, but not everyone has to learn something from each and every post, and some don't like to share all that personal stuff. When astro info is posted, then obviously they do want to share, learn, etc... but it should not be expected. Some threads are just amusing or for fun. It's not all seriousness round here. Interesting, a very good point. I agree.I have a question for you. What astrological patterns are in your chart to motivate the start of this thread? Not that you asked, but it would be interesting to find out, wouldn't it? It's always fun to know what organization is behind the organization Cheers, A. ------------------

Cristiname - personaly I can understand where ur coming form on this topic. I too (as a beginner) tend to get lost in most of these threads. I can only take the info that is given to me to make head or tails outta it. I think its a great idea. but ....Like many have said some dont like to share all their personal info as much as others. So what if it were someone who didnt like sharing that started the topic?? I think the best way to handle ur curiosity is to simply ask the person you are curious about for their stats if they are willing to release them to the public.
The other thing is alot of people like to put other things in their signature ... ??? i dunno just a thought! ang-

I've felt the same frustration when someone offers their opinion on something and I just cannot recall their astrological stuff. Most people do not bother to fill in the info in the PROFILE section, and I wish there was a specific field within the PROFILE section for astro info, but there's not, which is weird to me because it IS an astrology site ...Well - even if you did have the field it STILL would not guarantee anyone would take the time to fill it out. Then add people who engage in conversations here who are not really interested in divulging too much of their personal information, THEY are perfectly well invited here as well as any other. You have to keep in mind, the forum can be very fluid, people come and go all the time, changing all the time ... if you are interested in knowing someone's astro info for any reason, just ask and there's where you can begin some interesting dialogue and get to know others here. It's fine to remind people the information IS helpful ... Libra Sun

you all make good points here...for the part about people NOT wanting to divulge too much.... I was talking about people who share intimate stories already... people who write down information about themselves.... in a thread about 'what attracts you to men..", women came in and posted all sorts of personal stuff.... u CAN say you look for blue-eyes and nice butts, but can't share that ur say... Venus is in Leo????? that's silly! I'm NOT a beginner and this IS an astrological board as far as I can remember. but far too many times people only use it to take stuff off their chest. it's a jerry springer show by now.... the way I see it is: when u start a thread about 'what attracts women to men" HERE, you're not looking for a list of 'things'... cos I'm sure there's a women's magazine our there that did that on a sample of people far larger than we can get here... it being an astrological board, any thread should be about astrology, and the people should be interested in learning astrology. I can only read so many books, but there's just that special something about a personal insight into a certain astrological configuration... I have a capricorn Sun-Venus in the 11th house, and Uranus in Scorpio conj my Moon on the 9th cusp (higher knowledge) and rules my Asc. I have Pluto in the 8th, too... I want to learn about human nature also tru astrology. I want to understand what makes us tick and if there're any priciples involved in our lives. that's why I'm here... Yes, Capricorn/Saturn can spoil a party, but than again there should be something u get out of life... enjoy stuff, but hy not also learn something while u're doing it? IP: Logged |

I think I understand what you are saying. Still, we should be able to learn about each other based on our astrological Signs when we divulge seemingly trivial information. Like, it is partly a social group here, as well as a learning forum, although I DO like to emphasize the latter. If it was all one or all the other, it wouldn't be as spontaneous or fun. You can raise the level of seriousness as much as you want, and that's fine too. Hope that makes sense.IP: Logged |
