I wonder,if your ascendant sign is the face you greet the world with or rather how others see you, could the house placements throughout your chart make you similar if not the same as someone with planets in those signs? What I mean to say is, since moon in gemini and moon in 3rd house are so similar in their descriptions,is it possible to say that they are just one thing and the only difference is that a person chooses to show their house placements when the sign they fall under is comfortable.I am sun in eighth house of sagittarius with moon in 3rd house of cancer. Its true that upon meeting me you'l think I am a bit conservative and easygoing(hence my Taurus rising) but then you'll find that beneath the surface I am actually quite gregarious, blunt and tactless(sun in Sag).Only close friends and lovers will learn that when the chips come down, how I show emotion, and what makes me sad my moon in cancer rears its head. This all happens outside of me,and this is the character I show the world.Inwardly, however,it is a different story because my house placements take over.Though my sun is in Sag my interest in the deep issues of life, death, sex, occultism contradict my fun-loving,easy-going sun sign.It explains why I fall inlove with detached people emotionaly even though my moon is in cancer, its in the 3rd house of communication, thought, words and expression. My venus is in heavy going scorpio but because its in the seventh house of partnerships, and relationships it makes it less single minded, sexual, intense and rather focused alittle too much on th partner I am with.Taking all the house positions into consideration my "house placement" chart would read Descendant in Scorpio Sun in Scorpio Moon in Gemini Mercury in Sagittarius Venus in Libra Mars in Virgo Saturn in Libra Jupiter in Scorpio Neptune in Scorpio Uranus in Scorpio Pluto in Virgo Just a thought, I welcome all your comments.Oh and by the way,I am guessing this here is the chart of my soul mate!

The sign that your Moon is in, to use your example, indicates your emotional nature, while the house indicates the area in your life where that will play out.Lanny IP: Logged |

gert -I also have my Moon (in Cancer) in the 3rd House, and a Taurus Rising. We also both have Neptune in Scorpio. What House is that one in? As for your question. I might not be understanding it completely. I've got sponge brain right now from the flu ... bear with me ... ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |

You misunderstand what I am saying.Basically,I am saying that for the time being we put our natal chart aside.Take the house positions that you have from your natal chart, reconstruct a "house" chart.I said that I have cancer moon in third house, that means my "house" moon is gemini,I have my sun in eighth house and that means that my "house" sun is Scorpio.Understand???IP: Logged |

I understand what you are saying, but this would be oversimplifying the significance of houses. Certainly house reflect their respective signs, and that reflection can be seen in how a planet in that house manifests. But what house a planet is in has a very different and distinct influence on how a planet manifests as opposed to what sign it is in. To build on what Lanny was saying, a planet tends to represent more of a specific "part" of your person, your psyche, your personality, etc. What house defines in what area of your *life* that energy will be most likely to manifest. It may seem like a subtle distinction, but ther is a difference. For example, if your Sag Sun is in the 8th, certainly your Sun energies will manifest in those 8th house related *areas of your life,* thus perhaps giving you some common ground with a Scorpio, who is by nature intriguing and attracted by those areas of life. But nonetheless, your Sun energies will manifest in a distinctly Sag way, because your *personality* and basic mindset is dominantly Sag, not Scorpio. Hence why on the surface it seems your 8th house interests "contradict" your Sun: they don't really, since Sag is the sign of mental exploration as well as conviviality and self-induglence. It's just that Saggy desire for mental exploration is drawn to "dark" 8th house topics. If your Sag Sun was in, let's say, the 10th, your energies would be no more or less Saggy, but just focused more on 10th house interests like career or status instead. In other words, the sign represents the "personality" the plaent's energies take on, and the house represents *where* in your life they'll been most focused. IP: Logged |

Oh OK I guess what you are saying makes sense.I may have said that my sun being in house 8 make me less flimsy and flighty, but in reality I don't altogether lose my sag sun. What you say is true, dismiss the theory I had,you have a point.I guess I should research on the house positions more. Thanks!!!!
