I always jokingly refer to myself as a man because of my occasional "masculine" responses, statements, actions, etc.

Then I read the thread about men on Lindaland. Laughing along with it it got me thinking deeper about gender identity. And I'm not so much talking about transsexuality. I was just slicing some Emmentaler a few minutes ago and I thought about my "I'm a man" jokes and realized that it's not really like a man that I feel, it's just that I don't feel quite like a "woman" either. Or even like a mix of the two.

I just feel like a genderless blob. Very little about "gender" defines who I am (or think I am). I feel like a human, I guess (occasionally). But beyond that I can't vouch for anything.

So.....I know Uranus must be involved. Then there's something about Libras and androgyny, isn't there? Any thoughts?

maybe this is just another wacky Aquarian thing

Whiterabbit, you could be a person BALANCED out by both genders. The ideal place
-you feel a lil' of boath (said with a lisp)

Also- what's "Emmentaler"..

"genderless blob"

ROFLMAO

youre so witty

I usually feel and look/dress really feminine. It helps that I am petite and have the bambi eyes, and that men think I am a damsel in distress. When I get into my b*tchy mood and lash out against men I don't like (refer to the Aqua men thread hahaha) then they back off...and it makes me think am I acting masculine? Then I realize, NO I am still feminine...but whoever created these stereotypes wants us to think that women are weak and can't assert themselves, so any woman who DOES assert herself is thought of to be 'manly'. Men are supposed to be aggressive and combative and women are supposed to be 'sly and manipulative': I DONT think so. I am a woman 110 percent...but I am a direct, honest, and sarcastic one.

It depends on if you buy into the gender stereotypes or want to redefine them.

yes i agree. don't feel you have to pigeon hole yourself into fitting in with pre-defined (by other people) gender roles.. you are what you are.

Well Emmentaler is a cheese, my moon is in the 10th house and that's a great point you bring up-
I guess my concepts of "woman" and "man" are our socially prescribed ideas of the two. But still..it's just the whole gender thing, I can't put my head around what it means. Like I said, I don't feel masculine, I just don't feel like I have a gender. The funny thing is, right after writing this topic yesterday, I turned on my TV and there was a show about intersexed children. One of them was this beautiful 20 year-old whose parents decided not to assign a gender (she/he was born with a uterus and testicles)and now they're grown up and know all about it and have chosen not to perform surgery but rather to live as intersexed and just identify themselves as being of neutral gender. I thought that was so amazing. What an enlightened being!

whiterabbit, ok so you have moon in the 10th.

so if the moon is ruled by the 4th house and its natural ruler is cancer and cancer represents "mother" and the 10th house, home to saturn ruled by capricorn="daddy" of the zodiac. maybe this is why you feel the way you do. you've manifested both masculine and feminine energies with that moon placement. right?

just a thought

Hey whiterabbit, I can relate.

I'm a dude, but with Venus in Retrograde.
Whatsmore, its conjunt Uranus and the Sun, in a feminine sign; Scorpio. I can be pretty androgynous, or just plain pretty, from time to time.

In a similar way, Juno and the Moon conjunct in the 1st both contribute to a childlike appearance and manner that can be equally inducive to stigmatization and stereotyping.

HSC and whiterabbit, I can also relate to the astro part of the feminine/masculine thing tho, although I am very feminine (could it be the Libra rising?) but my Sun (Gem) is a masculine sign and Venus is in Aries, while Moon, Pluto and Saturn in Scorpio (feminine). However although I may have the feminine appearance I have very aggressive attitudes towardes education and career, I am very unequivocal regarding my opinions and tastes and don't let people pick on me; which I find way too many people trying to do.

Even though Moon, Pluto and Saturn are all in Scorpio (feminine) I find the Scorpion energy to be more masculine than feminine in the traditional sense, because its original ruler was mars, and the Mars energy can be very 'masculine' if we must use those terms.

However like I said, I feel that this is me, and I am a woman...110 percent....not just because of the girly appearance, because in my opinion women can be as strong if not stronger than men. We can go through childlabor, work and balance our home and family, and do tons of other stuff. So we have the right to be as strong.

yeah, well said.

I always forget that the signs are feminine/masculine
My only feminine sign is my mars in scorpio, but I agree that Scorpio seems less feminine than the others. I've got Libra on the ascendant, which I also think of as being less masculine than the other ones. interesting theory, Lovely. I've also got Sun in 4th so that works into your theory quite nicely.

I love the replies on LL, I always feel so happy because people are so open-minded and intelligent here. I tried to tell a dumb@ss friend of mine this and they replied "So you feel like a guy, huh? hahaha...maybe you're a lezbo"
