Watchout its another negative BR post!! Run for the hills!

I have to admit I'm getting a little jaded about astro, and I'm starting to feel like it can't offer me too many more insights. Chart aspects, ascendants, moon signs, I'm starting to not really believe in these. Why? I see no commonality between people with these various influences, sure you can say a person is this way or that way, and they'll probably agree with you, but so might the next person.

I could say, I have intense emotions cause i have a scorpio moon, but who doesnt' have intense emotions? Thats the nature of emotions, they're intense...not alwasy expressed intensely, but everyone feels them.

I could say, I'm sometimes secluded because I have a 12th house sun, well most people are somewhat private....etc and so forth.

At this point the only real world evidence I see to astrology, thats not skewed by my own subjective beliefs, is that people born around the same time of year kinda look alike. Sometimes frighteningly alike, even if they're different races. But is that really astrology? Maybe its just a seasonal effect, and might have nothing to do with outer planets. I guess all this practical thinking is just my mercury in capricorn conj sun talking, but then again, maybe we're all just duping ourselves.

I know JUST what you mean!
I started getting interested in Astrology at 13, and I learned everything I could -planets, characteristics of signs, houses, aspects, made my own charts for people. But the more I Got into it, the more complicated it seemed to get, untill one day, I was like "this might as well be random its SO COMPLICATED, and on top of that, its not foolproof!" And that was that, for a few years anyway.
Thats why i consult the stars for confirmation, not really for the future. And I just say anything can happen!

I totally agree! I become very sceptical about astrology, but always come back to it because even if it is all bogus, it's an interesting *hobby*

But this is how I am with everything...tarot...numerology...witchcraft...I jump around trying to find answers and when they don't add up, I look elsewhere. the best thing I can say is to incorporate everything...logic, astrology, tarot, whatever your fancy...and still be open minded about whatever else you stumble upon.

Okay, I'm off to the hills now.

The stars are but guides - they cannot replace the true life karma your soul seeks; like true beacons, they can guide your way, not be the light inside your soul.

To truly appreciate the stars and their ways, you need to be brave enough to go out there and live out your 'Free Will'.

Like everything, "The stars incline but do not compel. "

- Robert Burton

We have free will and the power to rise above anything, even our astrological charts. Astrology is not here to tell you exactly how you or things in your life should be. That is up to you. That can get frustrating for people who are looking for answers in something. You have to make your own answers. Astrology like anything is a guide, here to help but does not want us to let is rule or define our lives. If we are doing that we will find it to be hollow and it will never satisfy us. We will see the holes in it only when we give up our power to it. It is not here to define us or give us all the answers. When we try to make it, it will dissapoint us.

That's how I feel about it.

Yes they really suck at explanations
For example Neptune transit
You will feel cloudy and optimistic
huh?
I feel that way all the time
In reality this transit will compel you to meet artistic types and experience love on a spiritual level, you may meet two or three people you fall in love with or have long lasting friendships with.

My interpretations are usually much better, and then when people say, well you pulled that out of your head, I say "it's much better than anything you can pay for at astro.com!"

They tend to be overly glowing on romantic forecasts too,
such as "communication will be a big issue"
huh?
how about "you two will fight all the time because you have trouble communicating in words and prefer to use hand gestures"

I mean come on, let's have some reality here,

Also minor aspects are not read, I believe in all the minor aspects.
Your minor aspect from uranus to your ascendant is a big deal, trust me.

Ohhh Nooo! (*voice of Mr. Bill*) Another BR post.....but I actually agree!
The more I read, and the older I become, the more insights I get from all things and all beings I come into contact with. I try to make a point of learning something new from or about everyone that I talk to, every day. All this gathering of knowledge has grown my perspective (although probably not my wisdom). But astrology is just one small piece of a giant puzzle that makes us what we are, and I don't think we can expect all the answers from just one discipline; but a combination of disciplines, and from a variety of avatars and gurus or whatever you want to call spiritual leaders and thinkers. I think past lives have a lot to do with the way we are, and also the choices that we make -- our Free Will (*bows to maya-v*). I don't expect to find the exact answers to why people do what they do in a welter of astrological detail, but astrology does nail it from time to time.
26T, wasn't it Evangeline Adams who said "the stars incline but do not compel", or am I suffering a Neptunian attack?!?

I always get the feeling there's something more to it all. Another reason why people born the same month would have similar characteristics (looks wise, personality wise). I don't think we really know everything about it yet. By "we" I kinda mean everyone this day in age.

From what I've noticed, someone's sun sign can be pretty accurate to a certain extent and there is a similar vibe in people born near-by, but every person I've ever met has had an individual flavour, like an essence of who they are and it's always different (even in very similar people there's that difference, however small)

Birth charts can also be accurate, but most people seem to relate to certain aspects A LOT and not at all to others..

I've seen this in myself as well. I can relate to certain traits of my sign, and I see the truth in certain aspects in my chart but there's still this ME of ME, the real ME that only I really know and that I can't really classify under a certain sign or aspect..

But like i said before, I get the feeling there's a lot more to - people born at the same time having similar traits -. The astrological connotations we know of today seem a bit simplistic..it's as though we don't have the whole picture yet

I kind of understand what you're saying as I'm getting there too, the whole jadedness. Maybe someday I'll just stop studying it like I feel like doing on some days. I think for me though it's more that I keep wondering if it's just a huge waste of my time to study it. There are so many variables that anyone can really be anything. I mean everyone has a little bit of just about every sign in their chart in some way in a different position, and it'll show itself wherever and even sometimes in a random point in time. It's not so much that it isn't showing me stuff, it's not that I am not seeing patterns (because I am), I've just become bored of it, feel like there's way more out there than easily packaged little planets in signs in houses in aspects in a chart. I also keep hearing that you can't read your own chart because you'll overlook the negative things, but to have your chart read by someone else you have to pay almost $200. It's almost as if it isn't worth it if you can't do it yourself. Plus I have an extremely practical need with everything I do, and that's been wearing off, and I hate a lot of the other stuff that has been brought into my life by astrology (it isn't astrology though).

If I can peg an Aries from across a crowded pool hall, then yeah - Astrology is legit.

If my 14 year old daughter can take pretty good guesses at her new freinds signs, simply based on other people who they remind her of, and be right more often than not, then yeah - Astrology is legit.

If the man who makes my blood boil with desire more than any other EVER, just happens to have a Venus that conjuncts my Mars, then yeah - Astrology is legit.

Astrology proves itself to me daily.

But, it's not a crutch, and it can't be used as one. It's really only for our own amusement to know this stuff, and also, to help us have more tolerance toward each other. Don't expect more from it than what it is, and you won't be let down.
