Could anyone be kind enought to explaing what to look for in the chart regarding parental relationships. An astrologer told me our son has harmonious aspects to me but there is a certain amount of tension with his dad. I think its to do with aspects to Moon and Saturn, but was wondering what else to look for, Id like to check my own chart and see why I feel so bonded to my Dad? Any info gladly appreciated. Love Sue xxxx

I don't all the "tricks" with this but this is mainly what I look for: aspects with personal planets, especially Sun and moon with Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and sometimes Pluto in the other chart. Neptune, not so much, but sometimes, especially if teh family is very creative/artistic, or very dysfunctional (in particular alcholism or drug abuse). You're looking at generation-crossing influences that get passed on from parent to child, both good and bad.

Good contacts between the personal planets in both charts, if not challenged harshly by aspects with Jup, Sat or the outer planets, seem to often indicate that the child and parent will bond more like friends as the child grows, sort of a la Gilmour Girls.

Some themes I've noticed:

Saturn (good contacts): one is more of a teacher, usually the parent, but sometimes the child teaches the parent

Saturn (hard aspects): emtionally strained and/ or distant, in very bad cases, problems with severe discipline/control, harsh criticism, disapproval/rejection, andemotional, verbal, and physical abuse/neglect, deep resentments

Jupiter (good aspects): strong family bond, an eagerness to help and encourage, easy expression of feelings and desires

Jupiter (hard aspects): choatic family situation, a sense of not connecting with each other, difficulty understanding

Uranus (good aspects): openness, fair discipline, acceptence

Uranus (hard aspects): arguing, lack of structure in family, lack of discipline or erratic discipline, difficulty expressing emotions/forming emotional bonds

Pluto (good aspects): a lot of personal changes and growth from the child-parent relationships, frequent changes to living situation, psychic connections

Pluto (hard aspects): arguing and possible violence, resistance to change when needed, and in very bad cases, physical and sexual abuse, severe discipline/control, deep psychological injury

Inneraspects with Saturn is what you should find between parents/children (first and foremost) because you are karmically connected. Either yours or your childs Saturn may be in the 12th house (this is what I call family Karma) If not then Saturn may be in one of the parents Sun/Moon/Asc signs(or vice versa). This is a tight bond.

Joyful bonding will be their personal planets connected to your Moon/Venus/Jupiter

Interesting to note are the similarities between charts.(yours and your childs)
example: you have Mars square Pluto or Moon in Leo, your child could also have these aspects/placements.
These similarities can also be between your husband and childs chart.
