jwhop ~
I'm interested in getting an astrology software program and wanted to know what you have and the parts of it that you like.
I've heard Solar Fire is the best, but wished to hear from someone who's actually running a program, and what they think the positives and negatives of the software are.
Thanks!

I use AstroMart, had it on my computer for years. My version is 5.1 but they're up to version 8.2 now I like my old version better.

I've never used Solar Fire but understand it's excellent. Most astro software can do the calculations very quickly and accurately...which saves tons of time.

Good points of AstroMart
large database of cities around the world with latitude and longitude coordinates. You can click on the city to load when doing a new chart.

Large data base of famous people you can pull up charts for in seconds. You can also produce synastry charts between any people in the database and/or anyone you do a new chart for.

You can save charts you produce to the database

You can do transit reports, for the day or any day in the past or future. I just ran a transit report for myself...for 4/16/2105. Looks like it's going to be a very good day

You can look at transits of individual planets for any period, past, present or future

Synastry
Moon returns
Sun returns
Progressions
Midpoints

9 different House systems, including Koch, Equal and Placidus

Can adjust for lots of different personal preferences, orbs in aspecting for instance.

Weak point
Not all aspects have an interpretation in the interpretations module. Of course, if you rely on built in interpretations for aspects, they're only as good as the astrologer who wrote them

You can download a trial version here. Last I remember a registered version was about $70.
