I essence they be calculated like transits ... but .. it be one day for one year .. normaly the fast moving inner planets are looked at for transitional position .. and progression are in effect when within 1 degree of orb of the natal placement in question .. the are said to signify events as diff to transits that effect people on an emmotional level .. .. that be all i know about them .. e.g to look at progressions for a 25 year old .. look at the inner planet transits for day 25 of their life .. if i knew that progressed Venus was about to conjuct my natal Sun .. i may consider taking a chance on the lottery :-)) ... or something like that maybe something here: http://www.astro.com/astrology/in_transits_e.htm

think of progression as the private, inner progression of your character. Whereas transits are the same for all of us- and they only affect us when our natal planets are being influenced (meaning, it's an external influence), your progressed chart is as unique as your natal chart- and it's an internal influence- the evolution of you, so to speak. Your birth chart remains as important as always, but the progrssed chart is a good way to understand your current mindset, emotions, etc.

Ah it has to do with inner influences and evolution...I learn a lot better from this board then from reading articles... sometimes I find some articles too long and fluffy for my patience I can be a true airhead. Right now I’ve got Pisces Sun/Merc and Aqua Mars/Moon in the 10 th house. Do house cusps change progress as well...i.e. why are the house cusps different from the ones in a natal chart? And why is 1 year = 1 day used in a progression..why not use 1 week or 1 month or some other short time period instead of 24 hours?

"Progressions are calculated as follows. Each day after your birth is taken as being equivalent to one year of your life. For example, if you want to find your progressions for when you were 15 years old, you would calculate a new horoscope for 15 Days after your were born (same year, same place of birth, and same time of day). That will be your Progressed Horoscope for age 15. Then, you check to see if there are any aspects in the progressed chart that are within one degree of being exact. You also compare the progressed chart with your birth horoscope to see if any of the progressed planets are making aspects to your birth planets. Again, all aspects must be within one degree of being exact. These will be the aspects that will influence you during that time. And they can influence you for a long time. Click on the planet links below and learn how each individual aspect means when we discuss transits..." www.bobmarksastrologer.com/transits18.0.htm IP: Logged |

Thanks again astro junkie It's beginning to make more sense to me. Still have a lot of studying to do on this topic. My progressed chart isn’t that different from my natal. Brain dead today.. I will see what else I pick up later on. IP: Logged |
