This is a great site with different people from many areas of the world, with a common interest in astrology. So, my question to all of you is: Why astrology? When did you first become interested in astrology and why?

Astrology gives light to some people and gives hope.
Sometimes in life I have been left confused about things.. who I was, people around me .. why people are the way they are.. astrology for me gives me meaning and answers to questions I couldn't logically answer myself x
I have always loved astrology.. ever since my teens x .. think it was all the chat about planets and the stars as they have always fascinated me from a young age x

Astrology provides greater insight into human relationships. It provides a psuedo-scientific periodic chart of elements with which to experiment with and predict human chemistry. I have been experimenting for 17 years and think I've come up with some general theories about love, clique formation, love triangles, star-fan aspects, etc., etc. It gives me a deeper understanding of all my relationships. It allows me to detach myself somewhat from the interaction and analyze it.

In a strange way it helps me understand myself a little bit more. But really I find astrology interesting when looking at my own chart. I don’t really like delving to deeply into someone else’s chart. I don’t know why…

I too am fascinated not only by self-discovery, but also the study of others and what makes them tick. Once I realized that there was truth to Astrology it became my primary framework for my studies of people, how they are, and how they relate to one another.

One example I can give you is a Christian group I go out with on Friday nights. We go into San Francisco and feed the homeless. I help a Sag lead music. Everyone on the staff there with two exceptions are an Air or Fire sun sign. I also grew up in church in a family of Fire and Air (I'm the only Earth sign in 7 of us). Now I can start to look at whether or not that is a genuine trend or not.

My interest in astrology began at about the age of err... 7 I think, when I checked out a book from the library on astrological mythology. That started it. I was hooked. At first the mythology interested me, then later on sort of comparing people with Sun signs. Later on when I discovered it was more than Sun signs, I became completely hooked on the complexities. The real interest began when I began to pick up my grandmother's copy of "Star Signs". From then on I've been just observing the nature of Sun signs, and how they interact with one another, and really how other aspects of the birth chart modify the personality. I've also been working on a detailed description for myself on how exactly I think astrology works on people, how the planets have that kind of power over nature. I've always been able to see the science in it. I just want to have something convincing if someone decides to start a debate on it.

Hey Acoustic God, right on! I would like to go do something like that. I do play the guitar in church every Sunday, but I want to get out and help, you know?

I've been interested in astrology since I was a little girl, mostly because of my mother. My grandmother kept most of her books, and amongst these were Linda Goodman's Sun Signs, Love Signs (in Spanish), and a small paperback called Sun-Sign Revelations. I only read Sun-Sign Revelations when a was little, since I couldn't read very well in Spanish and I didn't realize Linda Goodman's Sun Signs was an astrology book, for some reason. I started to really get into astrology when I was eleven, when I started reading Sun Signs and bought an English version of Love Signs.

I'm with AcousticGod -- astrology helps me to understand what makes people tick. When I was 20 or so I got Noel Tyl's 12-volume set "The Principles & Practice of Astrology" and started doing the chart calcs by hand. When I'd read aspect interpretations about someone I knew and they rang true, or the hair on the back of my neck started standing up, I knew I was onto something.
I think my Pisces Moon in VIII was the real catalyst for this, and also Uranus transiting my 3rd house at the time.
Astrology is a superb psychological tool for understanding self and others. But it is just a tool, a way of recognizing potential. What you do with that potential is up to you!
And it is said that the more evolved/advanced the entity, the less of a role astrological placements in your chart will play -- they're not needed.

I first saw a friend's mom's copy of Sun Signs in middle school, and had to read it ALL...trying to figure out who all in my life was what sign! I didn't really get more into it until my Saturn return last year. I could feel that "something" was going on... and became more hooked when I finally figured out why EVERYONE guesses me as a Leo first! Leo moon and rising.

Astrology is a great tool for me for dealing with family and friends. Knowing their moon signs has made communication with some people a little easier...

I grew up in the time of the hippie...I was one{kinda still am one!} and one of the first things people said to each other after hi/hello, was; Hey man what's your sign?!?
That led to buying copies of Sun Signs and Love Signs.

I see astrology as ONE form of language to express the human condition. Psychology has another language. Biology, another language. Religion, another language. Each language gives you a different glimpse, yet, they can all be integrated. Commonalities can be found in all.

The greatest way you can prove to someone astrology deals with many truths is to sort of work backwards. Instead of asking someone their Sign, and then reading them an interpretation and then wait for their (usually skeptical) reaction ... find someone who knows nothing about their Chart or astrology. Provide them a list of Sun Sign interpretations, and a list of Ascendant interpretations, and leave out which Sign each is designated to. Let them pick which one they would say MOST describes them AS THEY ARE (as opposed to what they wish they were). Ta-da!

Battle of Evermore! Off the top of my head, I'd say, probably all signs, except Taurus and Virgo. Capricorns were rare. I'll have to give that some more thought. Alot of Aquarians, Cancers, And Scorpios, and Gemini, and some Libras.
Hhhhhhmmmmmmm......maybe I WAS too stoned...

And yes! John Lennon, and Imagine! He was a wise man!

LOL, Fayte! WERE you too stoned? I have had peeps tell me that I always looked stoned
They are crazy anyway.

I can totally see the Scorps getting into the whole bohemian lifestyle....yup. Aquas too, but for different reasons.

What about Leos? You didn't mention them. Seems that would be their style.
