This was a long article, so I'll post part of it here and you can read the rest at the link. Where will Saturn be transiting your chart? I'll post the effects it will have on each sign in the next post. If you read your rising sign (or the one before or after it, depending on your house degrees) you will get the correct info on what house it will be effecting in your chart. Over the next two and a half years we will be getting our egos put in check, learning to live life more creatively and heart centered, especially us strongly Leo influenced people. Big (Leo) lessons (Saturn).

Saturn in Leo. July 17th 2005 - Sept. 3rd 2007

quote:
So What Does This Mean About Each Of Us?

Good question. Lot's of things, but the keynote is creative self expression. Our western culture is by and large a rather superficial experience, where image and ego expression are viewed as valuable and therefore acceptable. But the point is that many people don't know who they really are in a true or real way, and struggle with authenticity, being a true individual and having a real relationship with joy, love, passion and all the best of what Leo has to offer us in the Zodiacal mix. So in the next 2 years your job is to find out who you really are beneath the makeup. To get beyond the small inner child that may still be seeking recognition and approval from the people around you, for validation of who you are so you can approve of yourself! Parents and children often struggle in conflict with the parent/child relationship, as the parent seeks to mould a child into their ‘creation', rather than nurture the true individual within their child. So you may need to “re-parent” yourself with positive self regard, and messages which give you freedom to explore your true potential “outside of the box”.

Leo's true purpose is to forge the “completely unimpeded self-expression whether this is an artistic field, an intellectual one, an emotional one, or the creation of a living child”
Often we need to explore what is contained in our “shadow”…our unexpressed and unlived self. This is the part of us we shy away from, as often it was made ‘bad or unacceptable' when we were children. So we are in fear of these unexpressed components of our potential, and unconsciously invite others to ‘play them out' for us. We then attempt to suppress these qualities we see in others, as we secretly envy them because they are denied in ourselves. As a result we experience the very rejection of love we fear, as they do not feed us back the recognition and love we seek.

This is a classic psychological pattern, which is inherent in the human ego driven experience. And we must all work this out if we are to become a “fully realised individual” able to express the joy, passion and intensity of loving connection to our society and fellow beings. So over the next few years this is your territory my friends, and hopefully you will be inspired to take up the challenge of becoming “real”! Once you are freed from the shackles of personal insecurity then you can find your spontaneity and excitement. These are the attributes of a true leader/motivator. As a result many of you will be ready to become leaders in your chosen fields, and to shine the light of consciousness beyond your personal ego (with a small e), as you are motivated to become involved with humanity in ways which will bring you true meaning and purpose, and the reward of personal satisfaction and regard. Good stuff!!

The sign of Leo is ruled by the Sun. Psychologically the Sun represents our “potential for consciousness”. The Oxford Dictionary offers us “to be conscious – with mental faculties awake, aware, and intentional”. The word “conscience” also arises here – “a person's sense of right and wrong”. So to be in our true solar essence we just have to be all of these things. Sounds easy! Saturn's process will force each of us to examine the ways we may fear the responsibility of becoming truly aware of our intentions!

The Effects of Saturn in Leo for Each Zodiac Sign for the next 2 years.

ARIES
The territory for you guys is your natural 5 th house of creativity and leadership. Hence you may begin to be asked, or you ask yourself to take up greater authority and responsibility in your chosen field. Your ego urge will be strong to be taken seriously and to become more of an individual than you have been up until now. The associations also include ‘procreativity' i.e. your kids, and your own inner child, so expect to do some responsible miles with your treasures, who will need good boundaries at the same time as plenty of recognition and support over the next few years. If your own creative urges are not as powerful as you'd like, then you need to do some “re-parenting” to give yourself new positive messages which allow you to be risky in a healthy way, and to rekindle your love of fun and pleasure. This is also your ‘gambling and speculation' zone so if you do decide to indulge your luck make sure you know what you are doing, and take full responsibility for outcomes.

TAURUS
The Leo sector for our bulls is the 4 th house of “home and family, roots and foundations”. I need hardly say more…but I will! So expect to do some major re-structuring in this area for the next few years, and this may include physically moving, renovating and so on, but more importantly the call is to really revise your attitudes to your emotional safety. This means admitting to your own needs and inviting others to be supportive and kind to them, at the same time as needing to be strong, reliable and supportive to family members who will be maturing and moving out into the world. “Leaving home” is the catch cry here and for some this may be literal, whilst for others it is an emotional maturity which is required. No more blaming others for your happiness or lack of it from here!

GEMINI
The arena for your growth and development for the next 2 years is the 3 rd house of “mind and mouth”, so you are set to grow yourself up in the realm of learning, listening and applying yourself to knowledge and education based fields. For the past 2 years you have been goal focused around security, money and vales, so hopefully you are now ready to move onto more important matters. Like what do you really “know” and how do you use this as an integral ingredient in your life's journey. Many Gemini folks are big on talk and short on really hearing what others who are older or wiser have to teach them, so get ready to shut up and learn to listen to others. If you give up your tendency to scatter yourself in too many different areas, this next phase can offer you a depth which has previously been unavailable to you.

CANCER
So dear crabs you are finally off the hook after the past few very testing years, and hopefully your sense of ‘self' is stronger as a result. So now on to the next phase as Saturn enters your “values, and resources” sector, opening the door for a deepening of your true worth and value, so this can be reflected in your wealth and worth on an external level. If you are insecure in money matters and don't believe you have the right to positive financial results, then you may find that this is a period when your resources are limited, as you restructure your inner belief systems which are indeed limiting them!! So there's the key my friends. This phase is also a time when we set up structures which become the building blocks of future outcomes, so don't buy into the “lack” philosophy here, but rather invest your time wisely in learning how to understand money as an energy exchange which is constantly in a state of reflecting our true “worth”.

LEO
So roaring ones here comes Saturn! Are you ready to find out what you're made of? It has been 30 years since this “Lord of Character and Calling” has paid you a visit, so if you're just a youngster then get set for a couple of years of applying yourself to commitment, hard work and becoming a self responsible person. The result? The individual who you are meant to become! Saturn brings us tests and challenges so we can forge our true potential beyond the fears and limitations we believe are obstructing us. Yes this can sound hard, but without Saturn we would never grow up and become an adult, let alone honour and anchor our ambitions with the serious business of creating an outcome in our life. If you're a tad older then this is a re-structuring phase, when you can dis-assemble the dutiful aspects of your life up until now and reflect on what you wish to do with the rest of your life. Either way the call is to examine what makes you authentic as an individual. For some great success and achievement is the result of this phase! For all you are challenged to examine the nature of love, joy and excitement in your life, as you learn to open your heart and release your true passion.

VIRGO
Your potential over these next few years is of an inner rather than an outer nature, as Saturn hangs out in your 12 th house of “solitude, isolation, spirituality and psychism”. Even if this doesn't sound very exciting right now, get set for some “adventures in consciousness” which will reshape your ideas about God-dess and your relationship to the divine inspiration which is the true source of all life. This is also the area concerned with past karma and actions which need resolving and releasing, before you can move into your next big cycle as Saturn enters your sign in late 2007. So forewarned is forearmed, and it is very important that you practice compassion to all participants in your life up until now, if they come to call in old debts of both physical and emotional origins. This can be a fantastic time to investigate all things including the word “psyche”, especially your own! Open to all things instinctive, clairvoyant, intuitive and creative at an artistic level, as Virgo often gets caught in the mental and the abstract realms and forgets that inspiration lives beyond the mind.

LIBRA
So lovely Libra the big shifts due for you concern your 11 th house area of “groups, associations, community” and humanity in general. You've just spent the past few years anchoring your career goals and aspirations and I'm sure you're much more responsible in these areas than you were before! So get set for a new level emerging in your psyche which wants to get involved in useful contributions to your society and community. It's time to find a cause!! What gives you the most charge when you consider general unfairness or inequality? After all these are your primary concerns, so how about putting your money (or energy) where your mouth is? The world needs many concerned and committed folks to get involved in the huge array of worthwhile causes out there. People power is the only way to go in the years ahead, as we can't rely on governments to take care of the things which really matter. This is also the sector for you which governs “hopes and wishes” fulfilled, so if you want yours to really come to fruition then this cycle is when you must begin to create your future fulfillment. Superficial friends and associations will feel very shallow and fruitless in the next few years, so… go the ideals, and forgo the glamour!

SCORPIO
Saturn now enters your 10 th house of career and ambitions fulfilled. So get ready for a couple of years of hard work, commitment and admitting that worldly outcomes are indeed the key to your inner sense of empowerment. For some this is a culmination phase where 14/15 years of gradual development are about to pay off. But even if you are in a reaping phase, the signal is that you must plant new seeds for your future, and the goals which have driven you up until now, may be changing in accord with your emerging social conscience. Your key essence for power involves the correct sharing and distribution of resources, power and money, so let this be your guide in the next few years. Old world values which promote greed and selfishness will not cut it in the years ahead. So be a pioneer and way-shower for the coming corporate revolution that will ensure investment returns will only come from “conscious investment”. You can really make your mark in the next few years, no matter how obscure your project or background, if you re-design your ideas about whether power is an inner or an outer experience.

SAGITTARIUS
So dear Archers your area for reformation and future outcome seeding is in your 9 th house of “philosophies, ethics and morals”. This includes all manner of teaching, learning, writing and generally spreading the word. Perhaps you have always been the eternal student but never admitted that you actually do have a bit of knowledge to share. Well it's authority time, and those of you who have been working to develop their field of expertise will find that you are about to come into your own. The caution for Sagittarius as usual is not to start believing that you are some big shot, and that you owe it to the world to set up a pulpit! You will be challenged to review many of your own philosophies and views during this phase, and will probably be confronted with many different types of people from many cultures with their “strong moral positions”. The message is tolerance and acceptance, and with this position you can have great impact in a non threatening way. This is also the house of foreign people and travel, but the chances are that travel during this time will be for your work, or your teaching/learning. You need to be prepared to apply yourself to get results. Publishing also applies here, so write that book and approach publishers if this is your thing.

CAPRICORN
Well you've just done a stint with Saturn testing the fabric of relationships for the past few years. So you're either freshly married and committed, or divorced and about to haggle over the outcomes. Either way the realm of “shared resources” of both an intimate and physical kind, is where this next cycle of Saturn is about to take you. And the keyword in both cases is power. This 8 th house zone also has associations with money, sex, life and death as it is not until we confront the mystery of all of these functions, that we are enabled to liberate ourselves from the unseen forces at work in our own unconscious mind. What do you fear? Loss of possessions, lack of intimacy, or simply not being in control of your own power? Well you're about to find out, and the best action here is no action. Don't confront those who may confront you. Simply learn to release and let go of anything which no longer serves you. You may need to admit to vulnerable feelings, or simply take your power back from someone you gave it to. The result will be a deeper relationship with yourself, the people in your life, and with your own inner resources.

AQUARIUS
Well Water-carriers it's time to deal with that old issue you tend to shy away from! Yes you guessed it…relationships. Not known for your touchy feely bits, you may be surprised to find that over the next few years you are ready for closeness and commitment in ways that you have never been before. And to create this you will need to admit that the very support you have always believed is not yours to enjoy is actually available to you once you admit that this is something you both need and want. You've been working hard over the past few years to set up your daily life's work and have found that commitment is both useful and satisfying…yes? So now it's time to apply this same principle to all manner of sharing and relating possibilities. You are not an “island”. You need others and with them you can reach higher toward your future possibilities. So invite co-operation and join with others in ways that allow trust, nurture and support. The only problems you may encounter here will occur if you cling tenaciously to old beliefs that no-one is there for you and that the world is not ready for a kinder and more inclusive you!

PISCES
OK dear fishy ones it's time to start working hard and enjoying it more. Saturn will spend the next few years in your sector of “daily work and service” so embracing your opposite sign of Virgo is what you need to do to get the best out of this next phase. So how do I do this? By becoming practical and useful my friends, and sending your inspirational impulses out into the world in useful organizational ways. So if you are the kind of fish who shies away from dealing with everyday matters…boy are you in for a shock! If you attempt to avoid this task then you will meet great resistance to other dreams you may have for avoiding reality. It will come and get you anyway, and this may take the form of health issues, if that is what your higher self needs to get you in touch with your body and all the things which a simple daily life requires you to take care of. At best this can be a cycle where you re-shape your life and your health into a more productive experience, and begin to enjoy the results of a new approach to being in the world!

You should be SunChild. Years ago when Saturn was in Taurus (my 4th house), it was a very tough time for me but, I came out of it a whole new person with a greater understanding of myself. I love Saturn.

I'm actually ready for this adventure!
You're right, I'm sure it will be self discovery, you know, I have a good feeling about this.
Even if I have to go through hardship, I know that Saturn has a plan, and it's purely for my Soul's learning and benefit.

Does this mean we should be looking at our progressed ascendant, because both my natal sun and ascendant seem WAY off from this article? Cancer's and Aquarius do seem quite relevant.

WATCH OUT FOR THIS WEIRD SIDE EFFECT

I've had two (amazingly accurate) psychic readers, in as many days, ask me if I was a Leo, because of my "Queenly Energy."

Saturn is moving into Leo
And Saturn is in my First house

Therefore I am "presenting" Leo energy now.

Ugh..this Saturn transit into Leo is so NOT what I need right now. Before it's over with, Saturn is going to be conjuncting my Moon AND squaring my three Scorpio planets - Venus, Mars, & Neptune BAM BAM BAM, one right after the other. *cries*. And on top of that, it will be quincunxing my Chiron, so Heartbreak Hotel time for me again, only longer. *cries again*
Saturn (and his partner-in-crime Pluto) have really being doing a number on me these past few years. And I really do need a break. But apparently I'm not gonna get one anytime soon. I'm not asking for much, but I'm turning forty this year and I need some happiness already. And I'm not being greedy and asking for a million dollars or a new home or car or anything of a materialistic nature. All I want is for the guy I love to finally admit that he's madly in love with me, so I can get on with my life already. I'm getting too old for this and I feel like life is quickly passing me by. These lyrics from The Pretenders song "Middle of the Road" kind of sums it up for me:

The middle of the road is trying to find me
I'm standing in the middle of life with my plans behind me
Well I got a smile for everyone I meet
As long as you don't try dragging my bay
Or dropping the bomb on my street
The middle of the road is no private cul-de-sac
I can't get from the cab to the curb
Without some little jerk on my back
Don't harass me, can't you tell
I'm going home, I'm tired as hell
I'm not the cat I used to be
I got a kid, I'm thirty-three
Baby, get in the road

SunChild,

AG,
It's because I have Aqua intercepted (the whole sign) in the 1st house. So tran Saturn is transiting the 7th house (Leo) now. When an astrologer casts a general chart for each sign, they use a Solar wheel. For Gemini's forecast they will start with the Asc at 0 degrees Gem and the houses will be equal. They will then read the planets according to the houses they fall in from there. So since most of our houses arent equal and our Asc's dont start off at 0 degrees, that changes things up a little bit. But if you know where that planet is transiting you can usually figure out which one to read. Hope that makes sense. I rarely read my Sun Sign forecast. It's more accurate when you read your rising as the planets are then transiting the right houses.

LeylaLeFay, wow! That's interesting. Makes sense though doesnt it?

Hi DayDreamer,

Here's a good interp. for Saturn transiting the 5th house. When it transited my 5th, I started getting really serious and defined about what I wanted and needed out of my relationships. Romantic ones also seemed hard to come by or I was more choosy in who I dated. I read any book I could get my hands on that had to do with soulmates and did alot of inner work. (it also conj. my Venus right before it left that house) It was a lonely time but I really did come out of it with brand new views on what I wanted and needed in love. That transit made me 'grow up' and get serious about that arena of my life, like it asks of everyone. And if you do the work, you will see results. It will open up new avenues of thinking for you. Change and growth are good.

Saturn transting 5th house:

With Saturn moving through the house of creative power, you may feel limited initially by a lack of internal "spark" or "spunk". How you entertain yourself, how you have fun, and issues surrounding how you manage your ego are now coming up for "inspection". By the end of the transit, ideally you will have a stronger sense of purpose, and a re-worked ego. What makes you unique? How do you handle pride? What are your creative talents? Have you worked hard enough to feel good about "playing hard"? These are issues you will face during the course of this transit. By the time Saturn enters the sixth house, you should have a solid sense of what makes you different than others, and a rather concrete belief in your own creative talents. Many people go through a period of re-evaluation of their talents—how they have perhaps wasted them to date, and how they can express themselves in a more practical, useful manner. The fifth house is also associated with love and attention received from others. Issues you will face during this time include how "deserving" you are of special attention from others. Initially, you may feel unloved, and perhaps somewhat neglected or ignored. As you learn the lessons of this transit, you should learn to love yourself and take pride in yourself. Looking outside of yourself for "ego strokes" (whether through romance or other such "applause") may prove to be fruitless. You will learn through the course of this transit to depend on yourself and to take pride in yourself for what you really are, not only how others see you.

Sassy , I know, it's in my 7th house and will be conjuncting Mars and Saturn at some point there. And of course will square my other fixed planets. I'm trying to look at it as a good thing though. Ive been through some heavy Saturn transits before and you really only come out wiser from them. He's not all bad and can help you restructure your life.

BTW, Pluto will be enering my 12 house soon. I'm wondering if anyone's experienced that transit....?

Well I'm going to HOPE that Saturn will be kind, but going by past experience (that is, my entire life so far haha) I'm not gonna hold my breath that it will.

...And oh yeah I forgot to mention:
Saturn will be transiting my 6th and then my 7th House. How fun my relationships are going to be then, eh?

I hear you sassy. I just remembered something I read recently. That Saturn transiting the 7th house can be one of the most karmic periods in someones life. You'll be meeting important people and have alot to work out with them. Let's hope it's *mostly* good stuff!!

Keys to Handling Saturn Transits:

Saturn teaches us about the value of moderation and caution. Perhaps the best way to "handle" hard Saturn transits to the houses of your chart is to avoid fighting these lessons. Accept that, at this time in your life, things may move at a slower speed (even a snail's pace). Saturn wants us to work hard, put our energies into practical, useful, and meaningful projects, and to live in the "here and now". This period in your life is a time for building a solid foundation. Understand that moderation at this point in your life is necessary for your spiritual growth and your physical body as well. Avoid blaming others for where you are at now for extended periods of time (some self-pity, however, may be necessary in order to gather strength and the ability to depend on yourself, however)—doing this will only lead to feelings of melancholy and anger. Know that this period in your life, while temporary, is a time for learning about your personal limits as well as your inner strength. Carry these lessons as you move beyond this phase, because how you handle your life now will make all the difference as Saturn moves into the successive house in your chart.

Here are some good interps:
____________________________
Saturn Transiting the First House

Saturn transiting the first house begins with a Saturn conjunction to the Ascendant, a transit of personal significance. The first house is a fire house, a house that rules our personal identity. We concern ourselves with how we come across to others on a personal level with Saturn here. Our physical body becomes a focus as well. Depending on the age of the native, it may be a time when we feel our age, or it is a time when we see our bodies quite clearly. This is an excellent time for beginning health regimens, diets, and the like, simply because it is a time when we look in the mirror and see ourselves clearly—not what we want to see. Our outlook on life changes to a more serious, responsible tone. In the beginning stages of the transit, you may feel frustrated with yourself, let down, and lacking in self-confidence. You might reach out to others in an attempt to validate yourself, looking for ways to boost your confidence. When these attempts fail, you may feel temporarily let down and discouraged. Rest assured that Saturn will re-work these feelings, with your help of course, until you reach a point (as Saturn moves through the house) where you have a stronger sense of self. This transit acts to transform your self-confidence in such a way that you question the source of your confidence to date, and discover a more solid base for pulling up inner strength. Saturn here acts to rip away the superficial. Illusions about the self, the body, and personal abilities will no longer be tolerated. The end result is a newfound identity and a realistic understanding of the self. In terms of career and projects, outward signs of progress may not be as forthcoming, yet the work that you do during this transit will lay a foundation for future success and progress! For example, some years ago, a client began a hobby/project during a Saturn transit to her first house, something that took up a lot of her time and energy and that yielded nothing in terms of immediate financial gain—until later! In fact, this "hobby" turned into her career in the years to follow.

Saturn Transiting the Second House

While a certain level of introspection marked the Saturn transit of the first house, Saturn's movement into the second house marks a new stage of taking stock of our effectiveness, self-worth, and finances. This stage of life is often marked by hard work. It is a practical time in one's life. Financial success may not be remarkable, yet it is generally steady, if slow to come by. This transit has traditionally been associated with financial loss, but in truth, it is more about our perceptions—we are apt to review how effective we have been on a financial level to date, and find some dissatisfaction with our progress. In fact, gains may be slow, but sudden reversals are not common with this transit. The purpose of this transit is for you to make the connection between your own feelings of self-worth and what you produce in the real world/get back from the real world. As with all Saturn transits, at the outset, we might reach out and look for validation from the outside world and from others, and find something lacking in so doing. The initial sense of feeling unsupported can be discouraging (many of us think on the lines of: "I work so hard, and what do I get for all this hard work?"), but as the transit moves forward, you learn to look inside of yourself with a newfound clarity and realism and ideally draw up considerable strength from within. You work on your effectiveness in the world, and see exactly what has been holding you back from achieving the results you want. The challenge here is to capture the newly found and defined self-confidence you gained from the first house transit, and now apply it in the real world.

Saturn Transiting the Third House

This transit marks a time when how you have networked with people around you, and how you gain and disseminate information, come up for inspection by Saturn. A new kind of pressure is produced—it's not about your personality or your resources like it was in the first and second houses. Rather, the pressure centers more around mental output. You may feel pressure to produce ideas, and to make them work. A certain somberness in your outlook may be characteristic of this phase, as it may be a time of worry. It may seem like acquaintances and sometimes siblings are blocking your growth in some manner, and these relationships may be strained as a result. Although you have a desire to make contacts, you are now rather preoccupied with learning, and you may view idle chit-chat as a waste of time. You may feel an unusual pressure to structure your time and effort, and to cut out communication that seems unnecessary. You may at times feel rather overwhelmed by such things as errands, red tape, and other such day-to-day "disruptions". As Saturn moves closer to your IC (the fourth house cusp), there may be some vague feeling of urgency and worry, as if you sense some things in your life are closing. By the end of the transit, however, you will have ideally gained a greater depth of understanding, having focused on information and communication that you really can use to feel more effective in the world.

Saturn Transiting the Fourth House

This marks a time of considerable inner "re-working". In terms of outward signs of achievement, this transit may be the most unremarkable of all the Saturn transits. However, near the end of the transit, and certainly later than that, you will recognize this stage as a critical one in which you made some life-changing personal and psychological advances and developments. During this stage, you are working on solidifying your identity, exploring your roots (where you came from), so that when Saturn begins its transit through the fifth house, you will be ready to differentiate yourself from others and embark on some important work on your ego. For now, however, you will face issues surrounding your attachments to the past. Sometimes this manifests as literal re-organization of your home. Moving house is not associated with this transit as it would if, for example, Uranus was the transiting planet. If moves are made, you might encounter some resistance in yourself. This is not a time when you feel particularly brave in the outer world. However, reorganization in your home, and more importantly, in your soul, embodies the true nature of this transit. Many will go through a major "spring cleaning" inside. Limitations that came from early family conditioning will be brought to the fore. At first, there may be some frustration with your life to date, and how you have limited your opportunities because of early conditioning. A feeling of being alone and unsupported in life may dominate the early stages of this transit. Sometimes, delays and slowdowns are experienced in the areas of health, mobility, and career. As Saturn moves closer to the fifth house, a feeling of some kind of mastery will empower you.

Saturn Transiting the Fifth House

Saturn Transiting the Sixth House

Saturn turns his critical eye on matters of the sixth house, and you are likely to feel a certain level of pressure in the areas of work, daily functions, habits, and health. At the beginning of the transit, you might find yourself more accountable than ever when it comes to your work. You may initially feel bogged down by what seems like undue pressure in your routines. The key word here is "seems", simply because the nature of Saturn is such that the pressure it brings is never truly undue. In fact, Saturn knows better than us, and it is in reality very much "due". Why? Because things we may have previously neglected or disregarded now come up for inspection. How can we make best use of our time? How can we manage our day-to-day lives, and our bodies, better? Saturn pressures here make us aware of all of the "fluff" we have surrounding our daily routines and our work, and spring cleaning is now in order. This is an excellent time for starting new regimens to better our health and well-being, such as regular exercise, more structured and productive use of our time, and so forth. In fact, we might be faced with life events that force us to do so, or at least provide us with the motivation to get our acts together. Traditionally, this transit was associated with health problems. Generally, though, if health concerns manifest, they are ones that are manageable. They signal the need for change in diet, routines, and habits. By the end of the transit, you will likely have learned to be more productive, healthier, and considerably more focused.

Saturn Transiting the Seventh House

Significant relationships with others are the focus when Saturn transits the seventh house. Saturn motivates us to do "spring cleaning" in the areas of life he touches, and one-to-one relationships will need to be considered and understood during this transit. Initially, as is usually the case with Saturn transits, we might feel frustrated and we might seem withdrawn. This is a time when we need to define, understand, and crystallize our significant relationships with others. If you already have a partner, this is a time when any issues surrounding compromise, flexibility, and the ability to give your heart to your partner will surface. Initial frustration can take the form of feeling criticized and "examined" in this area of life. By the end of the transit, however, you will have learned much about commitment and compromise. Single natives will feel the initial pressures of Saturn transiting the seventh house as well. A feeling of loneliness is possible in either situation (whether you have a significant partnership or not), but instead of an issue of re-committing, the single native will think about commitment in general. If involved in a casual love relationship, when Saturn transits the seventh, a pressure emerges concerning the need for evaluating one's commitments. Often this transit corresponds with an urge (or pressure) to make a commitment or a re-commitment. Healthy partnerships can be the outcome of this partnership, whether they are new ones or strengthened existing partnerships. Saturn always brings with him a fair measure of reality and objectivity, so that whatever relationships the native has or wants will be defined and re-defined. Relationships are seen now as serious. Partners are no longer simply fun or mirrors of our ego. Responsibilities to partners, the need to compromise, and the realities of the needs of others, become clear. We are forced to begin seeing others as individuals, and to improve the manner in which we relate to and with others. Depending on the person's age and life circumstances, "significant partnerships" can mean partnerships with loved ones, business partnerships, and even deep friendships. For example, when Saturn transited my seventh house when I was a young teenager, I began to view my casual friendships as superficial and unsatisfying and eventually developed a deep friendship with a girl that was to last some time. Essentially, quantity (in the relationship department) was replaced with quality, and this process involved time, soul-searching, frustration, and eventual fulfillment.

Saturn Transiting the Eighth House

How do you handle power? Your desire nature? Intimate relationships? What kind of obsessions and addictions do you have? What are your deep-rooted compulsions? What are your unhealthy attachments? When Saturn transits our eighth house, we feel pressure to answer these questions. Often, at the beginning of the transit, we are very sensitive to what seems like outer world pressures that force us to examine some of our deepest desires and attachments. These include our sexual relationships, our finances (especially with regards to debts and shared finances), and our need for control. Sometimes, Saturn transiting the eighth brings about sexual dysfunctions, whether we encounter these in ourselves or in our partners. We may face difficulties satisfying our libido and/or encounter problems with intimacy. These pressures are "designed" to make us more aware of our desire nature, and what exactly it is we want. Dissatisfaction and frustrations getting what we want, especially with reference to relationships with others and with our resources, often characterize the first part of the transit. How have we been using power? During this transit, we may find that previous methods of controlling our environment and the people in our lives simply are not effective any more. We may not even be aware just how we have been employing power and control to date. Another realm over which the eighth house reigns is our mortality. With Saturn here, we become much more aware of our mortality. Just as Saturn transits to our Sun or Ascendant make us more conscious of our age, Saturn transiting the eighth house often brings with it a realization that we do not live forever. Of course, we know this as a fact at the back of our minds, but Saturn reminds us. Before this transit, it is generally wise to begin organizing one's finances. If we don't, Saturn will most likely find ways to force us to do just that. On a psychological level, we face some of our fears that are of a compulsive nature—those fears that lead us to believe we need certain things in order to survive. Take a small example of a superstition. Perhaps we perform some kind of small ritual that we feel will help protect us or give us good luck. If we do it often enough, it becomes an addiction. We are afraid that if we don't do this little ritual, we will set ourselves up for bad luck. If we get rid of this superstition, we feel strong. Something as simple as a superstition or ritual for good luck can undermine us. Why? Because we are giving away our power over ourselves to this compulsive behavior! We are denying that we have power over our own lives. The same is true of any form of compulsive behavior and addiction. We attempt to control our lives through these behaviors, but what we are really doing is letting the addictions control us. Towards the end of the transit, we will have eliminated some deep-seated habits and attachments that have been keeping us back from feeling emotionally free. We emerge healthier and stronger. When we give in to compulsive behaviors, we give up self-control, and guilt undermines our lives. We are not ourselves. By attempting to control others, we give away our own power over ourselves. By the end of this transit, we will feel more emotionally healthy. We will have nixed some of our addictions, and mastered our superstitions. We will feel more powerful because we have given up attempting to control things we cannot or should not control, and we will have gained a feeling of self-mastery instead.

Saturn Transiting the Ninth House

This period in our lives is generally dedicated to self-improvement. We are developing our ideals and our commitments as transiting Saturn makes its way through our ninth house. Ideals and spiritual goals that we may have taken for granted or worked with for many years suddenly seem superficial or not particularly useful to us. If we have been studying, we must watch for a period of questioning exactly what we are working towards. Does this line of study match our true selves? Some of us begin new studies as we unconsciously prepare ourselves for Saturn's next house transit. But most of us come face to face with our self-defeating attitudes during this period of time. The ninth house is a fire house, and it has much to do with our outlook, our sense of adventure, and our confidence. It also is associated with our faith, hope, and vision. Although its attachment to such things as higher learning and travel might mean that a Saturn transit to this house will affect these things, but for most of us, it is more about taking a closer look at, and re-assessing, our attitude and confidence. At the beginning of the transit, we may feel a little somber. The blind faith or optimism that may have carried us to date comes up for inspection. Are our belief systems sound? What do we stand for? What kind of future are we working towards, and why? The spirit that drives us and motivates us to move out and beyond the everyday grind comes up for inspection. By the end of the transit, we will have re-worked our spirit, and come face to face with what it is that offers us hope and optimism as well as that which fuels our drive. The initial entrance of Saturn into our ninth house may cause us to question ourselves, but by the end of the transit, if we work hard at self-improvement, we will have replaced our old spirit with a re-generated one. We will be one step closer to knowing where we are headed, and we will have re-built faith in ourselves. A shaky feeling that causes us to sputter and avoid risks will be replaced with a more mature attitude towards adventure and facing the unknown. We let go of self-defeating attitudes that have been holding us back, we recognize exactly where we have been overdoing our expectations, and we find new ways to nurture faith, hope, and vision.

Saturn Transiting the Tenth House

Saturn reaches the top of our chart when it begins its transit through the tenth house. Ironically enough, there is freedom in knowing some of our limitations, and Saturn's transit through the tenth house teaches us exactly what this means. By the time Saturn leaves the house, we will have learned where we stand in the world, and how we have limited our achievements. This self-evaluation then offers us the freedom to appraise where we want to go. Approximately 14 years before this transit, we learned Saturnine lessons of the fourth house—we built a secure foundation within ourselves. Now it is time we build a secure foundation in our professional and/or most public lives. Our standing in society now comes under Saturn's scrutiny. We are in the spotlight, and what it is exactly that we have been building now comes up for inspection. Any projects begun 12-14 years before this transit are now scrutinized. Some of us find ourselves getting recognition and career "rewards" at this time. If this transit occurs in early adulthood, it is a time when we face our duties as a career person. Although the tenth house is a house of ambition, we do not focus on where we are going as much as we focus on where we stand. The question, "Where are we going?", is reserved for the next house, the eleventh, although on some level we are preparing for that stage as well. Before we know where exactly we are headed, we must know where we stand. Saturn's transit of the tenth house is an eye-opening one—a time when we are working hard, taking on our fair share of duties and responsibilities, and either reaping some of the rewards of our hard work or facing the consequences of poor choices. We become aware of what we have and haven't accomplished to date, and we unconsciously prepare to re-evaluate our lives in terms of our personal goals during the next house transit. What have we achieved to date? We now are treated to a realistic look at what we have built and what we have achieved. We no longer view our place in the world, our careers, our reputations, and our standing in society with rose-colored glasses. We face the facts, and only the facts. At the beginning of the transit, our increased sensitivity to where we stand and to our reputations may feel uncomfortable for some. We may feel exposed, publicly scrutinized, or under fire in our careers. We may also feel burdened by our responsibilities. This discomfort comes only as a result of a rush of reality into the matters of the tenth house, and if the discomfort is great, it is only due to the fact that we may have been holding onto false images of ourselves. Just as a mid-life crisis is experienced differently by different people, Saturn's transit of the tenth house holds different meaning for different people, depending very much on how true we have been to ourselves. However, as Saturn moves through the house, we begin to feel more secure. We recognize what it is exactly that we have accomplished.

Saturn Transiting the Eleventh House

We've spent at least a couple of years focusing much of our energy on our place in society, our responsibilities, and our standing while Saturn transited the tenth house. We should be at a point where we know, realistically, what we are doing. When Saturn transits the eleventh house, events or realizations cause us to ask ourselves where it is that we are going. Our personal goals come under Saturn's scrutiny as he makes his way through our eleventh house. How we fit in with others, our affiliations with people and groups, and our peers all become serious matters in our eyes. We might feel that our personal "circle" or our networks are superficial or unsatisfying at the beginning of the transit. We might feel alienated as we begin to see them for what they are worth, or what they aren't worth. We might feel some disdain for the superficial workings of casual friendships, begin to feel uncomfortable and self-conscious about "going through the motions", doing and saying the right things, and so forth. Alternatively, we might meet someone with whom we establish a serious friendship at this time, or we might become a member of a group or affiliation that we devote much of our time to. Weeding out what seems now to be superfluous social associations from our lives is very likely at this time as we become more serious about what we want, on a personal level, from our lives. We take a hard look at the role we play in others' lives, and consider exactly what it is that satisfies us and contributes to our happiness, beyond marriage, romance, career, religion, and so forth. As Saturn moves further through the house, and by the time the transit is over, we should have found ways to bring definition and articulation to our innermost wishes and hopes for our personal path.

Also sassy, Saturn has been transiting the lower half of your chart for the past 14 or so years, lots of internal restructuring and work. When it comes up to the 7th house and moves through those 6 houses, it's time to bring all that youve learned into the world and your relationships with others. Youve been doing the inner work and now it's time to work on your relationships with others.

Well… I’m confused now…

My natal Saturn in in the 8th house according to Placidus system and in the 9th according to the Equal House system…

So what is my lesson about? Handling power or Self-Improvement? Reading both descriptions, both could actually be mine… Well it could be because Leo takes up part of both houses… In Placidus the 8th house covers Leo completely though…
