Computer is being a ***** tonight. .....
Anyway.....
Sweet!!
I love that Mick Jagger song!
Never heard the Allman Brothers one before, but I loved it. Got a nice blusy feel.
Nice bike btw, REALLY! The 'home brewed trak'...that was too kool. You obviously get inspiration in some unusual places. That's the best place to find it.
You know you are just awesome HD.
Read that bit about the keyboard.
Do you really play?
I was thinking about picking it up...not that I have any money to buy one, lol.
I was wanting to buy an inexpensive bass though. My Cappy buddy left his here while he is at military training. I just realized for the first time what great exercise playing bass is. Got any suggestions on a halfway decent one on the cheap side? I'd like to buy a steel guitar someday too(I kinda like the Hawaiian sound though, lol)
a twelve string too...the list could go WAYYY on...Maybe I'll get all that stuff when I get a better job...whenever that is...on the 12th of never probably.

Later Dragon Man

Yep that would be me.
I know all the chords, but I still manage to suck imensely. I can't read music well at all though. That's probably why.

Allman brothers' charts would be interesting to know. I would kill my brothers if I were in a band with them. Well I don't have any, but if I did I probably would, lol. Sibling rivalry you know. Didn't know about Duane though .
My favorite song was 'Ramblin Man', or 'Midnight Rider'...can't decide....
I love all their songs though! Malissa, Jessica, Elizabeth Reed, and all those other women I can't rember the names of!

This is kinda kool. http://pages.prodigy.net/cousinsteve/rock/feat3.htm

BoE .. i checked that link out .. thanx .. didn't know Enya be a May person .. she be
one of my fave's ...
.. i'm aiming to put a web page together with some info regarding instruments you
mentioned .. and about the keyboard stuff .. i.e. how to cheat at keys etc
.. i rekon a lap steel would be potentialy d.i.y.able .. one slab of maple and a few
bits 'n peices ...

.. probably mentioned before .. here is a link .. in the 'slide' forum there were
some photos of a 'cigar box' steel ..
http://www.bigroadblues.com

btw: the turnaround in stormy ( can work well with other songs ) is ...
G / Amn / Bmn / back to Bflat .. then D / Eflat / D back to G ..
... they be extended chords like 7ths / 9ths and whatnot ...
well .. something like that .... i don't read music either

.. will see how the page turns out .. but now ..
it's time for the Simpsons ... and pizza ..

'till later

Thanks a bunch HD, can't wait to see that page btw
Enya btw, yep, that woman has one amazing set of pipes on her!
Thanks for the allman bro's chords. Should be able to figure out the 7ths, and 9ths, and all of that on my own.
I'll give that a try. Just learning 'The Battle Of Evermore' on the mandolin though...you would have thought I would already know that...

Mmmmm....pizza!....*drools*

Doh!
Hey, what's the bus driver's name on the Simpsons? Otis, or something....ugg! I can never remember! He's my favorite, lol.

chord-wise .. .. about time i reconnected with a gtr mate who would know
this stuff better than i ...

re: .. simpsons ..

Mr. Burns is hilarious! He's probably the best next to Otto.

Btw, I'm having trouble with my guitar. It's shocking me!
Do you have any isea what could be wrong with it?
I need to go have it checked out soon.

**Btw, I'm having trouble with my guitar. It's shocking me!

it's normaly static electricity that gives a shock ....
DC current leakage from the 'earth-chasis' of an amp ( i.e. faulty )
is another potential .. will get back to you on subject .. need to write
it out properly .. but for now there be some info on the scan ..
http://www.happydragon.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/temp/shokk.jpg

ps. single coil a la Fender are prone to the static ....
solution be to disconnect the groundwire from the bridge ..
it's a tradeoff realy ...

ps .. what do you rekon ( i'm clueless myself )
Otto .. aquarian ? .. leo ?
Burns .. cancerian ? .. ala John D. Rockefeller ? ( i think )

must fly ..
'catch you later ..

hd ..

protection from mains power ( i.e. auto shut off ) ... be good
article in any case .. worth saving to disc ..

reading it convinced me to purchase their JD-10 .. and i'm
extra glad i did ..

re: satan shocks virgo .. i take it be the strat ? ..

static electricity : .. so when you touch the strings you get zapped ? .. be a crackle thru the amp when that happens ? .. well to be sure .. look at the back of the instrument .. probably is a plastic cover over the trem spring / bridge cavity .. take that off and there is probably a wire soldered to the bridge assembly .. cut that wire 'n tape up the stripped end ..

it simply disconnects the strings from the 'ground' path .. be the first thing i do to an instrument .. i.e. cutting that wire .. .. .. but touching any other 'grounded' parts will have the same effect as touching the strings when the bridge wire was connected ..

.. the instrument may be a bit prone to electrical interference from neon lights / computers and such .. better than electric shocks .. and there are ways to reduce that without having to 'ground' the strings ..

a faulty amp be a different matter .. an electrical engineer / electrician / someone who knows how to use a multimeter .. would be able to check with ease for any current leakage off the amps 'earth/ground' .. i know when it comes to certain things i get a 'pro' to check it out even though i know to use an m.m. ..
i sort of doubt that it be an amp fault though .. be rather a rare occurence ..

be well

Thanks HD, I want to disconnect the groundwire from the bridge, it's kind of irking me to know if it would work now, but I'm getting twenty different peices of advice from different directions, so I'm going to get a pro to check it out. Thanks though, really, that at did give me a bit more knowledge of guitar electronics.

Burns...Err...maybe Cancer, maybe Scorp?never really thought about it.
Otto does seem like a Leo though, maybe with some Aqua too, like you said. That would make sense why he reminded me of myself! lol

See ya

.. if you do take the instrument to a 'pro' .. at least u have an idea what you may be spending money on .. and what work said 'pro' should undertake ..

********
.. from : "Guitar Electronics for Musicians" by Donald Broznac .. .. ( A4 soft back )

Shielding Procedures .. the following information describes the methods used to shield guitars ..

1 .. Shield the pickups: use a metal cover or plastic cover lined with foil. Watch out so that the shielding material doesn't come into contact with any 'hot' lead. This can happen quite easily with the exposed lead connection joints on Fender pickups. Bring all 'grounds' to a single point so as to eliminate ground loops and resultant hum.
2 .. Attach coaxial or multi lead wiring.
3 .. Use a shielded switch
4 .. Use shielded pots .. or shield the control compartment
5 .. Use a shielded output jack
6 .. Use plastic knobs. Metal knobs can act as 'noise' conductors
7 .. Recheck and make sure that the shielding is connected to the 'ground' tag of the jack socket. . and that no ground ever touches a hot lead ( even when pickups are wired out of phase )
8 .. Remove the 'ground' wire to the bridge and live a long and happy life with a hum-free guitar.

********

.. ' was getting zapped by static on a regular basis that made up my mind .. i took the convenient approach .. ( re: strat ) .. removed scratch plate .. removed electronics .. sprayed underside of scratchplate and body cavity with 'conductive' paint .. put insulating tape where exposed wire joints may contact the paint .. make sure conductive paint and jack 'ground' tag are connected .. remove the 'ground' wire to the bridge .. reassemble electronics and scratchplate .. .. done .. works fine .. much less hum than with a standard strat ..

.. in theory .. a static zap would be possible without a lead to the amp ..
.. if you suspect it 'aint static .. get the amp checked pronto .. it shouldn't cost much just for a 'test' ...
