We do play around with distant starts and mostly with the 5 major "asteroids", or what some prefer to as "planetoids" because there is some debate on which category they fall into. Chiron, Pallas, Ceres, Vesta, Juno.
Have you gone to astro.com yet? If you go to FREE CHARTS > EXTENDED CHARTS > at the bottom you will find a link to katrillions of those you can mess around with. Some have cool names.
This will tell you where they lie in your Chart, but you'll need more info for interpretations.
For the 5 major ones, I like http://goddess.astrology.com and here's some basics on Chiron as well as "points" (which are not actual bodies) such as the Midheaven, Vertex & North Node - www.cafeastrology.com/articles/planetsinastrology.html.
I happen to think that the smaller bodies support and further break down the interpretations you'll find in basic Chart interpretation... which is good because everything concurs - hence - there really is order!
