Hi
I have just been watching the news on TV. Its probably old news to astrologers but what about this new planet being found?
I have not read Lindas books for a long time but was it Vulcan that she predicted that would be found - the real ruler of Virgo? Could this new planet be Vulcan?and what is this going to do to our charts?

If it is Vulcan, it will take them bloody ages to acknowledge it. First of, they reckon it's too small to be a planet, and apparently even Pluto is!
To start with, they'll probably name it something else.

But yeah, it *should* be Vulcan.
Truth is, it's influence on Virgos and all of us has always been constantly growing right up to the point when it's recognised as an official planet. To think how it will change Virgos, for one, is to think about how Mercucry's effect on us will be lessened. It's Mercury which gives Virgoans the smart streak I reckon, plus, we'll become less nervous, since one of the ways Mercury expresses itself in us is to make Virgos bigger worriers.
At a guess, thinking back to the ol' Greek mythology, I reckon it'll make Virgos stronger people, definately more arty and carefree and it'll add a streak to Virgos sort of like a strange hybrid of Arian anger and Scorpio darkness....

And I guess it's house would be the sixth.
IMO, it's Taurus which is sharing with Libra in Venus so when Taurus' planet is discovered it's house'll probably be the 2nd.

cathy & TMNF ~

There are those who insist that Chiron should belong to Virgo.....and they discovered Chiron in 1977 and STILL don't know what to do with it!

Here's an article about it:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/30/AR2005073000403.html

Pretty cool! If it is in our solar system, it will have an effect, I would say. I'm dying of curiosity about what he has named it. I guess we just have to stay tuned

You must be right, Mutable, my bright kid sister!!!!

I must say I’v been noticing a change to my basic personality in a few years till date… I wanted to believe it was my strong Saggitarian influences surfacing… But it’s more like what you say, exactly what you say…

quote:
sort of like a strange hybrid of Arian anger and Scorpio darkness....

I wrote about that in another thread… Remember that one, Mutable? http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/005655.html

I always thought I was somehow too similar to Scorps in many ways… Much darker, much more intuitive and cruel, even a bit twisted… And I don’t have a strong Scorpio influence…

I always thought I was a step between Arians and Scorpios… I’ve been always closer to them, specially very recently, than to Geminis… Except for that sharp wit… I hope Vulcan won’t make me lose it!!!

The next active plannet [more then just a floating frozen rock chunk] we find in this solar system is gona have to be publickly titled-

Niburu. Its what the last human society called it, its what those who where recorded to have lived there called it. And its what Auther/linguist expert/archeologist/astronomer Zecharia Sitchin had it patented as when he first started translating the Sumerian texts.

Lei Kuei- Yes, this plannet ,other yet to be found planetary bodies, are alrteady affecting us, and the plannets we know of. As with before we found Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, we just dont know of it, or how to figure it into astrology charts yet.

Undoubtedly there are already recognised astronomical formulas showing that we are missing atleast one major player in our formulas for the spacing of each plannet from the next, and the way they rovolve around the Sun. Perhaps if you make up a formula, where 9 planets move the same direction around our Sun,,, but one is left with a very elongated orbit- to revolve the oposate way- alot could be explained .

Hello and welcome here heatherbelle. Been a while since I read Gooberz. Love SIgns is still my favorate Linda book.

I hope they give it a fitting Greek name. I'll be very mad if they give it a contemparary name!

From what I've read, it's about 1 and a half times the size of Pluto. It's a Newtonian given. Pluto and Neptune's orbits sometimes behave badly in the grand scientific scale, indicating a strong gravitional pull to our sun. Only a classified 'planet' could pull that hard.

Question: In what ways will astrology be influenced by this new planet, with it's extremely long, flat orbit?

thanks Libra Sparkle...I do have a feeling that with this new planet and it's influence will bring about a more spiritual awakeing to many more people...just a feeling, or should I say a "knowing" People should start thinking supergalactic not just about their immediate situation...at least that is my goal!

Although the planets have always been there, this new one included, they seem to rule things associated with the time in which they are brought to our attention, and also the myth associated with their name.

For instance, when Uranus was discovered, was a time of revolution and invention. Around the time of Neptune's discovery, was a heightened interest in spiritualism (the Fox sisters) and the discovery of anesthesia. When Pluto was discovered was the atomic bomb. So this planet will have some unfortunate associations, but maybe also something very hopeful about it. It takes years to figure out how it affects us.

Hmm...I think what MNF said was kinda true "it'll add a streak to Virgos sort of like a strange hybrid of Arian anger and Scorpio darkness...."

I myself feel very Arian-like(maybe because of Mars in Aries, not sure, although many people from my generation have Mars in Aries, and I feel like I express it much more strongly), and Scorpio darkness I'm not sure about...I mean, I'm very perceptive, analytical and often very suspicious(but not dark), but that's what my 3rd house in Scorpio gives me..but this Vulcan thing might be true.

PS:

Cancerrg sir, jahaan bhi aap ho, main aapko explanation bhi de deta hoon apni disappearances ke baare mein..yeh forum zyadatar relationships ke baare mein hai, jinmein mujhe koi interest nahi hai, aur isliye mujhe yahaan aane ka itna interest nahi raha. Warna main is jaga ko check out karta rehta hoon a few times a week, leikin jaise Archer ne kaha tha, yeh forum astrology se kuch zyada hi hatt ke hai, not that it bothers me too much, leikin bas yehi wajja hai meri absence ki .

This is an interesting tidbit:

The object is inclined by a whopping 45 degrees to the main plane of the solar system, where most of the other planets orbit. That's why it eluded discovery: Nobody was looking there until now, Brown said.

...I wonder how that fact will play into the process of its being named/its mythology/its astrological characteristics.

I so hope it is Vulcan.
I am a Gemini, Leo ascendant. Virgo Moon.
Might sort me out a bit. Just as an offshoot to this discussion, I have lately been reading about near death experiences. People that have these experiences come back with knowledge about various things. One of the things I read about was someones insight into astrology. The person said that Astrology is more complex than even the best astrologers know here on the planet. If anyone wants to read about this though there was not specific information about how Astrology is more complex( though a very interesting site)

Magus ~

This is the 2nd time this week that I've read about Niburu! I think it was author Barbara Hand Clow, in her book "Chiron - Transforming Bridge Between the Inner and Outer Planets" that said that Niburu will belong to Libra and Taurus gets to keep Venus -- BOOOOO!

Hi all,

I find in interesting that, as soon as a new planet is discovered, it will suddenly have astological significances ascribed to it.

Remember Sedna? Random link: http://www.lightofisis.com/sedna1.htm . As soon as it was discovered, it was being attributed influences all over the place.

From the site linked above: "It will probably be several years of discussion and observation before astrologers are in a position to make an official attribution for Sedna, but the planet's obvious attribution is likely to be as a co-ruler of Pisces with Neptune."

Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Pisces, and Neptune was grafted onto it upon discovery. The above website would thus appoint no less than THREE co-ruling planets to Pisces!

The trans-Saturn planets are (from the few texts i've read on the subject) said to have generational infulences, rather than personal
influences. It will be a loooong time before any long-tern influences are noticed with this new 'planet', especially since it takes over two hundred years to orbit Sol.

If astrology is a true science, as Linda Goodman claimed in 'Star Signs', it will prove itself to be so by rationally proving through research the infulence of this new trans-Saturn body, by a process of elimination and examination of the evidence. Then, it can prove to the sceptical, rational world that any influence is very real, rather than simply ascribing some random infuences to a planet that nobody knows anything about yet.

I think it should be named 'Mickey Mouse', since we have Pluto already. j/k :-)

With all this talk about Vulcan, what about Pan Haurus (The true ruler of Taurus?)
Could this planet be it? Just a possibility.

It has such an uninspiring name- 2003-UB313!

Whilst i was reading about Sedna for my previous post, i found that several trans-Neptune objects have been discovered. Here's the link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3511678.stm

"In recent years, astronomical work has thrown up several big objects. Quaoar, found in 2002, is about 1,200km (745 miles) across. Ixion, discovered in 2001, is 1,065 km (660 miles) wide. Varuna, detected in 2000, has a diameter of approximately 900 km (560 miles).

And only in February this year, scientists picked up the object 2004 DW, which is though to be 1,800km (1,120 miles) across."

And the size of Pluto, for reference is:
"Pluto's diameter (is) 2,320 kilometers (1,440 miles) and Charon's diameter of 1,270 kilometers (790 miles)."
ref: http://www.solarviews.com/eng/pluto.htm

So there's probably something bigger lurking out there, we just don't know what it is yet. I think it will be interesting to see what crops up in the next few years. with all of the extra-solar planets that have been discovered, i'm equally fascinated by what's closer to home and, as yet, undiscovered.

:-)

I've always been curious about "the asteroid belt" -- some say there was a 5th planet there, between Mars and Jupiter, and that some cataclysmic event destroyed it.....

Anybody have any brief thoughts?

I agree with you, 2003-UB313 is such an awful name… Some scientists need a few classes on poetry and mythology… (As a physicist myself, I feel so disappointed…).

I hope the scientific community reconsiders… Yes it should be Greek!!!

That's something the scientists can't seem to agree on. Many say it's a Kuiper Belt object, rather like Sedna et al, but this release from the International Astronomical Union says differently: http://www.iau.org/IAU/FAQ/PlutoPR.html

Astrologically, it would remain the same, of course, because if something works, why change it just because some white-coated bod somewhere says so? :-)

For a low-down on the debate, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pluto_(planet)#Minor_planet.3F

Wikipedia rocks :-)

The name UB313 is only temporary. Brown, Trujillo and Rabinowitz have already suggested a name but it won´t be revealed until they agree on it. I hope it´s appealing. There´s a lot in a name...
