Let me know of any young astrology prodigy stories you know of please. And does anyone think 5 or 6 would be to much on a Aquarian boys mind ? Just starting him off with the very basics is what I have in mind, see what he can do from there. IP: Logged |

Lol. I started reading about it when I was 12/13 -ish...My cousin is really into it (I swear she sleeps, breaths and eats astrology), so I just used to um. "Borrow" her astrology books when I was at her house. It helped pass the time that summer. IP: Logged |

That sounds like a prime age to start. Been wondering if it would be to much on my Aqaurian nephue's head if I where to encourage him to start learning much about it before 7 though. IP: Logged |

I'd say 13 or so is a good time to get into it... just because when you're 5 or 6, kids will pick ANYTHING to try and make someone a bit of a social outcast. A guy who likes astrology is a prime target. It's harsh but that's just how things are these days unfortunately.IP: Logged |

Hrm. I disagree. I don't exactly hide it that I'm interested in it. People from school have asked me to pull stuff up for them before, actually. IP: Logged |

Ive had peaple interogate me for more info on it, or ask for charts... And I ahve also been shunned or scoffed at for it, perhaps a little more so. Sometimes I quickly put their argument against astrology to the test, leaving their statements left to the gutter , useualy just laugh back , turn around and walk away though... My nephue would have the personality ,quick mind, and social charisma to deal with other children trying to belitle him though... Hes gona need it too- he's just as much a wierdo as any other Aqua I know ! IP: Logged |

I started getting into astrology when I was seven-ish. Not serious about it, but I knew the signs and the elements and modes and all that, and I liked reading about it in the books my mom had.IP: Logged |

I think its good to educate your kids. A young education in astrology makes me a bit nervous, some people react incredibly badly to astrology, especially men. They find it to be offensive, and will judge you as ignornant for believing in such "pop" nonsense. They think all there is to astrology is what's in magazines, and they stick by that.It might be problematic for a child to have a focus on astrology, other people might find them strange at the mention of it, I find that often times its better left an untouched issue, again, especially with men who've never been introspective in their entire lives. Just like any belief system, astrology can arouse negative feelings in others, and I feel if i was taught astro at a young age I would put much more of myself into it, and this would make the negative reactions of others all the more difficult. My 7 year old Cappy is a little interested in it. She just wants to know basic things, the symbols, the planets, the aspects. I have some friends that I discuss it with and she is always around, and Quite a Sponge!!!

I agree with BR and with LL... and I know that it is a bit contradictory. I would advise that you teach him snippets of various disciplines. For example, teach him about astronomy and the names of the stars. Then begin to talk about why the starts are given those names and the story behind astronomy- being astrology. Also introduce him to various myths, practices and general stories from all over the globe..but something a kid can understand. As he gets older you can start to introduce him to things that are more specific. Growing up my Sag bro and I were very different regarding our hobbies. He thought I was a bit odd for loving to read about mythology, science and metaphysics. I started reading before the age of 5 and started to read encylopedias before I was 10 - just for fun. He hated reading - but like the stories I would make up for him. To this day he has almost NO interest in mythology - a little in astrology and he still thinks I am weird LMAO... IP: Logged |

I agree with Pid, BR Because like anything else, I would hate to have a belief system imposed on me, and although all of us believe its true, whos to say that the people we are raising with this might not feel resentful of our patronage of astrology. What my parents brought me up with has little to no affect on what I believe today. In fact I am so radical, I tend to go the opposite direction, I believe little to nothing that they taught me. Its good to get him introduced, and then let him decide. Its never nice to be forcefed something. Sometimes we project our own desires on someone else--"I wish I had started studying astrology earlier", but its dangerous to make this a fulfilling prophecy for others because it infringes on their freedom of self. I am not implying that you are trying to control him Magus. I see your excitement and that you want to share with him the beauty of astrology. Its such a useful thing I live by it everyday. But let him decide, if he is that brilliant, he will see the beauty himself? Love SG IP: Logged |

All great, and well put points. Yeah, I was thinking about just teaching him all the "neat" looking glyphs and symbols,, then names of stars and constelatioins first few years... Fromthere just tell him he can borrow a book or two at his request. I dont think its so much the neat idea of a young child learning astrology that has me thinking about this so much as,,, Something about this boy realy seems like it would be an even more natural and innate tallent then it was for my self when I picked up my first book- The only astrology book you will ever need... That book is a real bore to me now ! And far from a realistic title . Thaks all for your advice, much apreciated.. So any mroe story's of young astrological prodogy's to be shared out there? I began studying astrology seriously when I was 14/15, i've known about it since I was very very young, my grandma and grandpa both adore astrology as well as my mom so theyve taught me things since I was able to talk, I've always known I was a libra, in fact the word Libra was my 4th word Everyone who knows me knows how much I love astrology and my close friends constantly ask me questions about their charts. I never get shunned at school, there are people who arent as enlightened as others but I dont shove my belief in astrology in their faces in a sort of "What you believe is wrong" I respect any belief and I make that known, and since I make that known I hardly ever get any negative feedback simply because I dont give others any negative feedback. Gotta love the golden rule ;D <3 Sigourney IP: Logged |
