There are a lot of websites that are very useful for astrology and the like, and would probably be helpful to a lot of people with different questions. Knowflakes are extremely helpful with posting links to these pages, but a lot of times the threads with these links get buried, and if the knowflake isn't here, it takes a lot of digging to find them (links, not knowflakes... the knowflakes usually turn up again on their own =))
So... what I was thinking was this:
is there any way that a little section could be made with just a list of different links with little blurbs by them describing what the site does? (eg: astro.com- 'a site where a variety of free charts can be created with a short analysis' or something like that). That way, people can just go to the 'links' page to read what they are about, and then , if they can't find what they are looking for, they can ask to see if anyone else on here knows where to find it.
If they want to add a site, they could email you or a mod for approval and then you could add it on there.

What do you think? Would it make sense to do something like this?

Yeah,I was thinking of something similar, like a sticky or something on top, which says"newbies read this before posting",and give em' some of the basic sites like astro.com etc...

We could also throw in Beebuddy's astro links page.

And maybe an introduce yourself sticky for all newbies, instead of using seperate posts..

and a search function,and a who's online thing,

Ok...ok I'll stop now..

what i like is the idea of descriptions with the links. that way you dont have to actually look at the web pages if they aren't what you are looking for. i think i might start a massive remake of the "cool links" thread that includes descriptions.

I know I'm not Randall (believe me I do)... but here's my brief thoughts based on my experience here thusfar...

I had the same idea when I came on too.

One of the things a mod does is watch for spamming. Making a list would be a fine line. Anyone with a Web site shuffling through here would want their site added to the list, and then a judgement call would have to be made by whoever is responsible for said list!

Also consider, hundreds of brand new Web sites go online EACH DAY. It would be impossible to keep up with a list, especially since many links go dead, or go neglected, fail to be updated.

No one should be expected to be responsible for constantly categorizing a list of hundreds of sites, much less LINKS within those sites!

Few Web sites pass the test of time, and I've resigned to allow the natural flow of communication to dictate what information gets passed on, and when.

A couple of other things.

If you need a list of sites having to do with a specific subject or query, just ask and you'll probably receive! We're cool like that, and you'll be secure in knowing you're getting the latest and greatest stuff.

And finally, as for a search function (and not to get too technical here) - the CGI program for this forum allows each and every post here to appear in your "googling" results. This is not true of all forums, since many CGI programs have a built-in wall. This one does not. So not only do you have a search function, but you're able to use the strongest search engines available to the Internet!

If you need to narrow it down to just LL posts, include "linda-goodman.com" in your keywords!

Ta Da!
