Can I have your advice? (you guessed, it's an Aries-Scorpio thing)

What are practical things one can do when a Scorpio is in a "silent" phase, and is additionally a workaholic? Does one just have to wait the situation out? I read somewhere that Aries doesn't have the patience to draw a Scorpio out the way Pisceans/Cancers do, but will just grab their coat and run - I don't want to necessarily do that, but I want to make headway without having to do something dramatic, not having to get extremely paranoid, and being myself!

Are the phases Scorpios go through a function of their being Fixed signs, because if they go from one activity to another, it seems like they need to move lock, stock and barrel and they can only focus on one thing at a time - is this correct?

After the night I had, now's certainly not the best time to wax poetic about the combination of Scorpio/Aries. I will go into 'practicals' rather then personals.... ( who am I kidding, I can't shut that off)

I have about a million things on the go... which means some of those things have my absolute devotion, while others don't fit into the important scheme, and then when something else is off the list, on to the other thing wih full intensity.
Scorpios are good at organizing their schedules, and we like to be busy.
Scorpio silences... hmmm.
Very true, very necessary part of our lives.
How to deal with them? Be available, but away. Don't take it personally, just understand that is part of us, we need to reassess, reevaluate, and we will snap out of it shortly.
Don't demand, if you can, understand that just like you - in your more firey way, we need to be individual, and we need to make our own spark, but we do it differently.
Scorpios are generally control freaks. Which doesn't mean we can't fit in with society, after all, we are water, molding to the container we are put in, but we change in fixed ways... at our pace. Our way. Even the most well adjusted scorpio goes through silent periods.. necessary to our very souls.
If someone can know it isn't them, and make unreasonable, unexplainable demands, or accusations, we can be at peace and know when we come out of that time, it is with a stronger respect and a remeberence to the person who allowed us to be, without justification.. Some things are hard to explain, the world is so polyanna friendly, as if you have to sustain the aura of unreasonable happy all the time. That's not balanced.

Aries Scorpio is an oddly different yet similar combination. It is a quicunx, and is somewhat harmonious.. but as you said.. there are marked differences.
It is not necessarily energy levels.. we aren't tortoises.. but we move at a fast, deliberate pace. We have to understand the inner workings of things. Our full attention has to be given to the thing we are doing. Everything we do, we do it completely. The sign of extremes, after all.
I don't have to tell you about Aries Scorpio chemistry. It's elemental and passionate.
If you wait out the silence, when he comes up for air, you might want to be wearing a sexy perfume, and doing something subtly sensual.. he'll pick up on it.
Find a sturdy surface. The rest is meant to be. Passion at its best for two signs who understand paassion.
