... an urge to rebel against authority in all forms, even when following authority would be in their best interests? Or maybe nothing in a person's chart could point to such a tendency and it's just something in their nature or upbringing? IP: Logged |

Well, Uranus rules the unconventional and rebellion and uniqueness, so I would say Uranus would be involved. Also, on the sun sign level, Aries (wants to do things their way) and Sagittarius, have issues with authority also.IP: Logged |

Unfortunately your question is a very vague and broad (and no birh data given), so I can't give much in the way very specific aspects. You also have me a bit concerned with that "just all in their unbringing" comment as if maybe someone screwed up with the person. You know, there can be very valid and right reasons to rebel, and something these are very personal and sometimes they're more social or universal. Sometiems it's a means of psychological defense when someone's in a hostile, oppressive or abusive situation and needs ot literally fight for their own sense of self. Sometimes it's simply the path for a individual to discover who they are and how they relate to the world. Other times it's sociopathology. So I haven't a clue what you mean by "rebelling against authority" - I mean are you talking about simply wearing strange clothes, having a freaky haircut and not listening to "adults" who think they "know better" or something violent or perhaps illegal, like killing policemen? At any rate....aside from Uranus/Aquarius and Aries/Mars, there's also Saturn/Capricorn, which is often an unexpected cause of rebellion. The thing is Capricorn esteems truth and authenticity, and resents authority it sees as invalid, to the point it will wage open war against it. Martin Luther King Jr. for example, was very much against authority that he deemed invalid (he just happened to have other aspects in his chart that made him take a non-violent route). Hitler, a Cap moon, could be another example - he deemed the cultural "authority" of the Jews as invalid, and literally waged genocide on them (he also bullied other German authorities that stood in his way, deeming them weak and non-patrriotic, and thus invalid). On a more personal note, I have Aqua Mars trining an Uranus singleton, both of which trine my MC - such aspects make me very openly anti-status quo (I hesistate to say anti-authority, because I'm not - I have significant Saturn influence that makes me very appreciative of *valid* authority). This has gotten me into a lot of trouble over the years. My guy also has a prominent Uranus, Saturn in Aqua and 10th house Mars, and he too has been very rebellious in his life. However, people like us who are very Uranian-Saturnian can't be pushed around or coercied to meet society's expectations - period. What usually is in our best interest is to find our own way, do it for ourselves and adhere to our own priniciples. As far as I'm concerned, as long as we're not abusing or hurting other people, there's nothing wrong with it, evne if other people thinkg they know what's in our best interest. IP: Logged |

thanks for the replies guys =) I basically wanted to know about which planets would affect 'rebellious' tendencies and such. I was asking for myself, as I find that I very often display this trait. I think as you said, GN, a lot of it has to do with identifying the self (not that I was abused or anything lol) which made me think that perhaps there was no astrological marker for such tendencies. I was curious because I noticed that when I have respect for/like a person, I will usually listen to what they say and factor that into my decisions where appropriate. However, if I get p!$$ed off at someone, I will most often take a course of action in complete opposition to anything they might have suggested, even if such a course of action is detrimental and I am aware of this fact. It's something I can't control. Also, I've never been a troublemaker as in like, gone against the law or anything, but I just hate authority figures in general. A lot of people probably do, haha. let me see if I can drag up my chart to look at my uranus/mars/saturn placements....

Hmm... the uranus is in saggittarius, so maybe that affects something... and also the mars that's in opposition to uranus. An opposition is a 'hard' aspect, right? So that might signify a connection between temper and reactionary behavior.

just a quick look and you can see his chart is mainly composed of fixed and cardinal signs. driven-obstinate-know-it-all perhaps? nep/moon opp= idealist; has specific ideas on how things ought to be.. pluto rising in scorpio..powerful in his convictions; feeling invinceable? GN should be able to help with the pluto rising as she has that placement herself IP: Logged |

im a pluto rising Gem sun myself and have serious problems with rebellion. i dont consider them problems on MY part oh no. i think everyone around me gives me a really hard time about it becoz they dont appreciate my novelty. if i were a guy, i think, my eccentricity would be much more appreciated. i am very fixed on this issue. i have no cardinals but mainly fixed chart.
