What's the deal with this t-square:

Jupiter Taurus in 2nd house opposing Mars in Scorpio in 8th house, and both forming a square to Mercury in 5th at cusp of 6th house.

This either has to do with money or sex, or both?

Thanks.

That's awful, Peri!! I'm sorry you had to go through that.

I don't think this applies here though, there is no Pluto involved in this T Square.

Were you burglarized by someone you knew? I'm just asking because of the conj. Venus.

Loggerhead,

go to the "ADD YOUR COOL LINKS HERE" thread and click on the link in post #1. There are explanations for all of the major configurations.

I've never come across interpretations for specific configurations though (involving specific planets). If anyone has they should post the link though!

Logger,

An easy way to analyze chart meanings is to keep in mind that SIGN modifies PLANET focused on HOUSE. So in your example:

Taurus modifies Jupiter focused in 2nd house

opposing

Scorpio modifying Mars focused in 8th house

both square

Mercury focused in 5th house near 6th house

becomes

Taurus (physical) modifies Jupiter (expansion) focused in 2nd house (physical)

opposing

Scorpio (transformation) modifying Mars (being, also action) focused in 8th house (transformation)

both square (energy needs to be combined with)

Mercury (thinking/daily work) focused in 5th house (self-expression) near 6th house (daily work)

The T-square focuses energy into the place where the two squares combine, so strong physical and transformational energies combine to affect your daily work. As to what this means for you...that depends on what you do with the energy! Certainly sex and money are a possibility, but they are not the ONLY possibility. Whatever it means, it will have a physical, transformational affect on your daily work.

For more about this "key word" approach to basic astrology, see: http://www.geocities.com/wilsontctc

Explaining the basics,

Tim

Thanks Tim, I'm familiar with that site.

Thing is, as you hinted at in your reply, the finesse isn't in the analysis of one factor, but in the synthesis of many.

This isn't an aspect that I have in my own chart, it's someone else's. If it were me, I would already know the answer.

No I was not burglarized by someone I knew, I think Venus refers to the stuff that I lost.

I just thought that the person might lose money through gambling since the 5th house is involved and actually is the centre of the T-square

No, actually that person is not a gambler at all..And the 5th house mercury is right at the cusp, so really it's considered the 6th house.

since the focal planet is in the 5th house that means that the resolution is to be found in the 11th house.

It sounds like the impulse to play, travel, or simply philosophize too much will continue to disrupt the the social life of the individual until they are able to direct mental energies (non-philosophical and more anylitical) into understanding friendships (or simply the need to empathize with friends.)

the cool thing about T-squares is that the problems indicated by them will probably not be a problem in the long run. their nature is to take care of themselves (as far as natal interps go).

I have two t-squares in my chart.

moon in virgo 8 deg,3rd house to jupiter in pisces 11 deg, 9th house to neptune in sag 7 deg, 6th house and;

venus in virgo 10 deg, 3rd house to jupiter in pisces 11, 9th house to neptune in sag 6th house~

I also have my nn in sag sn in gem.. but i'm not sure this factors into the squares. they are 14 deg far enough away i believe.

lovely,

which are the "focal planets"? the focal planets are in the center of the t-square and they are the planets that are getting squared (not the planets involved in the opposition.)

whatever house the focal planets are in, you look to the opposite house. usually if there is a problem it is because of thoughtlessness in regards to that house.

for instance, i have a t-square with the focal planet in the 10th house. so the 4th house is where i should look to resolve any stress associated with my t-square. and its totally true in my case. i am often thoughtless in regard to others feelings and they get mad at me and then i wonder why (and feel sad). it is an area of stress that can be resolved through simple thoughtfulness with regard to others feelings.

Where did you get this from, Beebuddy, that it is the house opposite the focal planet that needs problems resolved?

It's not necessarily where the problem is, it's where the resolution is.

try the link from the first post of "add your cool links here" and read the section on the t-square.

it's also what every interperpretation of t-square's i've ever read have said.

p.s. the link is just one chapter in a very good book that is online in it's entireity. you can access the rest of the book from that page with one of the links.

""* T-Square. This is an opposition with a planet which forms squares to both ends of it, a very challenging triangle. The opposition lends dilemma and the squares lend effort/crisis. With such a configuration, a strong energy is driving to break through, to overcome extreme limitations or challenges: the choice offered is hard work and breakthrough, or avoidance of the issue and breakdown. It is an imbalanced structure: the squared planet acts as an irritator, yet also it is the one with the solution. The point opposite this planet is often an area of life which must be attended to urgently or intensely, in order to create a fourth energy which balances the tension and makes for lift-off. The stress and apparent difficulty involved in this triangle makes for action, drive goaded by threat or pain, and at times knotty circumstances which arise where we unconsciously confound our own purposes, find obstructions, or make things laborious.

A major T-square in 1986 had Saturn opposition Chiron, with Jupiter in square to both, straddling the mutable signs: when Moon swung into Virgo, a temporary grand cross was formed too. A lot of effort was required to make progress in getting things to work: the answer in such cases is found in radical, yet pragmatic contextual shifts of viewpoint. This was about organisational perspectives and infrastructures. A time for decisions. Gorbachev and Reagan made a go at it, but the issues were very big, and the changes of viewpoint involved were threatening to become larger than either system they represented could handle. Yet, the concreteness of both Saturn and Chiron demanded real action, and they were precipitating forced solutions, through generating a growing awareness of the costs and disadvantages of carrying on in the old mode of big-power, Cold War rivalry. Jupiter in Pisces, at the apex of the T-square, introduced a visionary, overall 'what-are-we-doing-all-this-for?' undertone to the hard negotiations, bringing into focus both immediate practical issues, visionary possibilities and longterm basic questions.""

I also reccomend reading the interpretation of the grand square, it deals a little with the t-square.

Beebuddy, I am going the have to call you the Wise One.

BTW, it would be the 12th house where the resolution lies then, because Mercury is right on the cusp of the 6th, by one degree.

Okay, Lovely, that's enough. Not only are you unabashedly cutting in on my thread, but you are doing the very thing I have been wondering how to do: how do you get a chart pasted into Lindaland? I very much want to know. Can you pleeeease explain it to me in plain English? That means, not hing cryptic like "The UBB Code has to be enabled." It is enabled, but still, "paste" is always greyed out.

Thanks a bunch, Lovely.

And of course, lovely, I was joking. It's good, people butting in, it's like a conversation.
