Hi Natasha,
No single placement could ever be a sure indication that someone will not have children. And in this particular case (Venus in 5th), it is in fact a sign suggesting the very opposite- blessed relations with children. It doesn't tell us "this person will have children"- but Venus in any house adds harmony and beauty to the affairs of that house- and in this case that would be children, romance, self-expression..
Think of this placement also as adding a little Leo flair to the person's Venus, whichever sign it is in.
The Astrologer's Handbook says "The children of these natives are likely to be girls with artistic talent and physical beauty".

whooops, just caught my mistake, she has NO planets in her 5th?
This still does not say "no children", don't worry. The oft-used example in astrology is the 12th house: if we were interpreting empty houses as indicators of where we're lacking- an empty 12th would mean you have no subconscious.
Sometimes an empty house is emphasized because it has no placements. Also, have you checked asteroids? She might have some there.

Why is the topic "Venus in the 5th?" To get people's attention??

Anyway, I have Saturn in the 5th, probably not a planet that's associated with fertility. Nevertheless, I am actually blessed with four children, all of them bright, beautiful, and mind-blowingly special.

Thinking you'll have no children because the 5th house is empty is like saying you'll be unable to communicate if there is no planet in the 3rd!

Anyway, isn't the 8th house associated with PROcreational sex, and the 5th with fun, flirtation, and REcreational sex? I think so. How is it then that the 5th is looked toward for indicators of children and family life? Anyone knows? (And my 8th house is empty, btw., and the ruler, Neptune, in 3rd, which means I only talk about sex, but never actually do it, LOL!)

Yeah, not having a planet in the 5th does not indicate not having children. Whatever area where there is no planet emphasis just means that in this life there is not lesson to be learned in that area of life, or that your concentration is not on that particular area.

Loggerhead, that Saturn in the 5th is such a downer right? I have that too, and I cringe when I even read something about it!

Aquarius in Venus is in my fifth house.

I was 34 when the first was born, and 40 when the youngest was born.

quote:
The Astrologer's Handbook says "The children of these natives are likely to be girls with artistic talent and physical beauty".

Very true!

GeminiRising, I don't know off hand what it says about Saturn in 5th! But I can just imagine... LOL! I used to be very self-conscious, especially in public, with strangers, and so on. But my children really loosened me up. Nowadays, I think nothing of horsing around with them, dressing up, putting on weird make-up, singing the silliest songs, you name it, and I don't care who sees me! I can play the clown for them, whereas before I would have preferred to swallow glass splinters rather than let loose like that. But my 5th is also in Sag, which, I guess, helps. Where is your 5th house cusp?

Ok, here I found something, from www.astrologyweekly.com. It's one of my favorite sites.

quote:
A Fifth House Saturn suggests that your career or area of responsibility in the world relates in some way to personal creative projects, love affairs and children. In order to succeed in your social position in the world you will have to gain knowledge and expertise associated with the proper use of personal power, creative self-expression and control of the ego. Life-experience will force you to learn valuable lessons related to the development of a proper sense of values in dealing with matters of creative self-expression, romantic relationships, parenthood, social life and control of your environment generally.

That doesn't sound so bad?? Not exciting, for sure, but... it builds character!

Loggerhead, I think what you say is very true about loosining up after having children..I have heard that before.

That link you suppplied was a very pos interpretation of saturn in the 5th, but according to The Only Way to Learn Astrology:
"inhibited in attitude/ psychological and sexual hang ups, rejection in love or difficulties w/ children" (these are in extreme predicaments mind you or "harsh" aspects to saturn)are all things connected to this placement.

Hahahah.....

I think I especially feel some of the negative effects of saturn b/c of my sun sign, Capricorn which it rules. Also, I have pluto in the 5th as well...and mars. All these planets are in scorpio....hahaha.

But, like you used to be, I do have a thing about strangers and talking in public. But I also have a desire for creative experssion and have been involved in the arts so I can be more relaxed at times, it overpowers my self concious tendencies.

This is really off topic, but I sometimes think people sense all this 5th house energy before anything else..weird!
