Much love and peace to all those Knowflakes who may be awaiting Hurricane Katrina, now barreling through the Gulf of Mexico at 175mph. Last year, here in Ft Myers, Florida, I experienced the hurricane winds up to 145mph and the anxiety that came along with this natural disaster. It is an extremely stressful and totally exhausting experience!! My thoughts and prayers go out to those folks who are facing this Category 5 Hurricane...Please be safe and stay indoors. Hang in there over the next 24 hours...many people are sending their good thoughts!! GemStar

Hopefully we'll just be getting tropical storm force winds, at most Cat 1-2 if it hits Mobile-Pensacola... I hope. Weather.com says this about the probable affect on my area: quote: Once Hurricane Katrina makes landfall, it will progress inland Monday into Tuesday with a trail of flooding rains and damaging winds across Mississippi and Alabama and then into Tennessee.

Hey proxieme!!STAY SAFE. 75-90mph winds and gusts are nothing to sneeze at either...the tree branches will certainly be flying!! (Which, for those who do not know, is the typical reason for casualties and death during a hurricane...besides electricution). Scary stuff. Hopefully the flooding will not be bad in your area either... 25-30 ft water surge along the coastline is not a good event...anything over 2 stories tall will be completely underwater...imagine that. Wow. Be safe!! She is HUGE and Dangerous!! (**gulp**) GemStar IP: Logged |

Thoughts and prayers to everybody waiting for the storm to hit.... Please be safe...We would be in those shoes now (previously lived in Mobile, Alabama), except we moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida, about a month ago. Hardly better, hurricane-wise IP: Logged |

Thanks... This hurricane looks like it's gonna be a real b!tch... Oh well, I can take it... just feel sorry for all the people who are going to have it worse than me, and the ones who are really in a panic. Panic is the enemy...that's when people get sloppy, and during stuff like this, that's never a good thing.Goodluck everybody! IP: Logged |

BOE-Where are you located?? I am watching these old Southern crackers talking on CNN...so many people are gonna have a rough go of it after this baby hits...and it will tear up a large path before it slows to reasonable wind speeds....BE SAFE!If there is a possibility that electricity will be wiped in your area...get your ICE now. And turn your freezer waaaaaaay down NOW so you can get an extra day or so out of it if the electricity turns off. Gas chainsaws, generators and filled gas cans were popular after the hurricane passed here. Propane in BBQ grills filled if possible...we had no electric for 8 days...and the heat about killed us here last summer! Hang in there and hunker down... Update: Tropical depression developing way southeast of Puerto Rico...may be Hurricane Lee by Tuesday or Wednesday...heading for the Gulf. Buckle up folks-September is here!!

I am gonna lexi the name, but until then, this is just awful, I feel soo helpless. I'm not able to go help cause of family stuff, but I could take care of someones house or kids or pets if you want to go. I'm in central FL. This would be a way for lots of people to help, if we get together and help one another, so one another could get down there and help. They are gonna need it. Any other thoughts... The people in the affected area are really hurtin'IP: Logged |

I'm posting a link to an online donations form for the American Red Cross. The pictures of the aftermath of Hurrican Katrina are mind-numbing -- words fail me..... https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation-form.asp I feel like my problems are very small right now compared to people who lost everything, up to and including their lives..... .. .. watching the media coverage over the past 48 hours has left me rather speechless at the devastation wrought .. i've been casting rune stones .. meditating on southern knowflakes .. their families and friends .. .. .. .. may recovery be attainable and swift for all affected .. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * .. a simple prayer by St.Francis of Assisi .. : Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, let me sow pardon. Where there is doubt, let me sow faith. Where there is despair, let me sow hope. Where there is darkness, let me sow light. Where there is sadness, let me sow joy. O Divine Master, grant that .. I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love. For it in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned. It is in dying that we are born to eternal life. IP: Logged |
