Quick disclaimer- this post isn't an attempt to pigeon hole those born under this sign.

I've noticed in my family and circle of friends that for Virgo's seem a little more likely to get ill and suffer a health condition than the other signs.
My son is a Virgo, and was born with lactose intolerance and has had chronic ear infections all of his 5 years. As soon as something is going around, he catches it while my Gemini daugther hardly ever gets sick. He's already had two dental surgeries, for silver caps. The first set of caps came off, and we had to take him back. Once again, my girl was on the bottle for roughly the same amount of time, and her teeth are fine. He's also very accident-prone, falling and crashing so much that I'm going to go get his eyesight checked out.
Then there's my Virgo Uncle, who's been sickly most of his life. He has chronic stomach ulcers, and must be under a specific diet and medication. He's also allergic to bees, and caught a really bad disease called Valley Fever (from the pesticides here in the valley) a few years back. He barely survived that episode.
My Gran is also a Virgo and she's broken something in her body every other year, and she's been using a walking cane and she's only like 65 years old. She also suffers from low blood pressure, migrains, had kidney stones removed, etc....
Finally, there's two Virgo friends I know both have juvinelle diabetes and are also always catching whatever flu bug is going around. One even caught pneumonia (not sure how to spell it) twice in the last four years.
K, so is it just a quirky observation on my part or are Virgo's more disposed to getting sick/hurt? Going off on a tangent, is it possible that some people just think they're getting sick and then they do?(mind/body connection)I'm thinking that might be the case for my son, he's super hyperchondriac (however u spell it). If he so much as gets a scratch on his knee, he screams up a storm and is convinced his whole leg is goign to fall off.

Hi!
I'm a Virgo and I think there is something to what you are saying in that all virgo's (including myself) seem to have a handicap, whether physical or emotional or mental. And of course, throw in some chronic worry and I guess we would be more likely to suffer illness, right?
But at the same time, you'd think since Virgo's tend to eat healthy and take care of themselves, all that would be avoided. So who knows.
I don't get sick, but I worry myself into anxiety attacks constantly, and I get lots of really killer migraines, I;m talking the kind that make me throw up, and limbs go numb. A virgo friend of mine had a hernia, and another has an ulcer, which is interesting since Virgo rules the stomach. I also know 2 that have been institutionalized.
AND I know people with heavy Virgo inner planets that are kind of sickly now that I think about it.
But of course I don't want to generalize, and there most likely are other things at work here. Didn't linda goodman say there was a placement that you had to have in order to get cancer?? I wish I could remember what it was.

I've only got a Virgo Moon, but I was born with similar problems. I had constant ear infections, and had to get tubes put in my ears. I was allergic to chocolate, milk, tomatoes, strawberries, anything artificial and all preservatives. I was once sick for two weeks due to eating a couple chocolate cookies.

When I was about 7 (I think) my mom started introducing everything I was allergic to back into my diet, and everything was cool. Now I love most of the things I was allergic to.

I'm a Capricorn sun, though, and only my moon is in Virgo.

Oh, I read recently something about Virgos having an ailment later in life, and wearing it like a badge of honor.

Hi Planet! I have Sun and several other planets in Virgo, and I was always sick as a child. Every typical childhood ailment that came my way, I got it. Including whooping cough, ear infections galore, also allergies like heyfever. However, all that changed in adulthood. Actually my health now is pretty robust (knock wood). I rarely get sick, never had the flu, and in fact, if I ever don't get out of bed because I'm not feeling well, I am usually really VERY sick. On the whole, it is very unlikely of me to give in to fatigue, nagging pain, etc. I'd be more likely to ignore it and go on with what I'm doing.

There might be something to the hypochondria thing though, which, if you think about it, is almost unavoidable. If you pair low vitality with constant worrying, and add on top of that the need to analyze everything ad nauseum -- well, there you have the perfect hypocondriacal patient!

I think the reason I'm not doing that is because of my Leo ascendant. I have a friend who is also Virgo/Leo, and she is like this too.

Hi Loggerhead,

Your post gave me hope, I hope Emmanuel does outgrow it. This is his second day hoem from school, for yet another ear infection. He's on antibiotics, on it appears they're finally beginning to work (he's happily watching cartoons). Last night was a different story, I almost took him to the ER he was screaming in pain for hours. LOL, good thing he's my baby had he been my firstborn I'd never have another child again J/K, despite his sickliness which isn't his fault; he's a great kid. Really clam and pleasant and mental. Even my Gemini doesn't ask as many why questions as he.
So, why do Virgo's seem to worry/stress out so much? They appear so calm and collected on that outside, yet they get anzious on the inside. Also, do you have any good tips on how to soothe my son so he doesn't freak himself out so much? He jsut started picking on that scab on his knee again (:

Well, I treat a lot of my kids' ailments with homeopathics, and yes, including ear infections. The bad thing about antibiotics is that the body gets immune to them, or rather the bug that's causing the infection. So after a while those antibiotics just don't work anymore.

Most of the time ear infections would go away on their own anyway, and what antibiotics primarily do is speed up the process. However, you can make it even quicker by giving a homeopathic remedy, and of course, some children's tylenol for the pain, until the infection has cleared up (which shouldn't take more than a day or two).

If you have access to a health food store, like a Whole Foods Market (where would I be without them!) you should ask for Mullein/Garlic Ear Drops, or, if they don't have it, they'll recommend something similar that will also work. (Most people working in those types of stores love what they do and are tremendously knowlegeable.) These drops come in small brown glass bottles with a dropper. Just follow the instructions. Works like a charm.

As far as his hysteria or whatever, there are remedies for that too, completely innocuous, not to worry, and consisting of pellets that melt on the tongue. There are many different remedies for similar things, so in order to find the right one it's sort of mandatory to be as specific as possible in describing the symptoms. If you are interested in giving it a try, feel free to ask and describe, and I'll be happy to help you find the correct one.

Oh, and why do Virgos worry so much? I dunno... I don't think I worry overly much, compared to some, but mainly it works like this for me: I like to keep all the eventualities in my mind, like keeping track of them the way juggler keeps watching the balls he has in the air at the same time, and this somehow helps me to feel in control. Which is of utmost importance to me. If you want to be the "master of your ship," so to speak, you better know what's going on in the machine room, and all the way up to the tip of the main sail, that's all. It doesn't mean I sit in my living room biting my fingernails worrying about impending doom, lol!

Good luck with your son! He'll be all right...

Hey there, Planet_Soul! I always reckoned us Virgos were pretty healthy, apart from maybe either the odd migraine or an iffy tummy. Maybe the rest of someone's chart would say what things they're prone to? The 6th house might be where to look? I don't know any Virgo Hyperchondriachs (sp?) although I've no doubt there are plenty out there, I know we sometimes exaggerate how bad we feel!

Thanks for the tips Loggerhead (: I dont' know if we have a Whoel Foods Market, but I will check. I do know we have a lot of GNC's, so hopefully we do. I also prefer natural remedies whenever possible. I find the whole holistic approach very appealing, especially the study of herbs.
Emmanuel is doing better today, and he seems to of forgotten his ailment and is having fun outside w the other little boys. Your insight makes sense, its good to know what's going on. Maybe if I explain to Emmanuel what's going on he will worry less. I try to soothe him when he gets into a panic, I'll also try to just calmly explain to him as well.
MNF, your posts always make me smile (:

I have two sisters who are Virgos the eldest Lizzie and the youngest Maggee, I noticed they both have stomach problems but that might be genetics because I have stomach problems but they have gotten much better ever since I added soy to my diet. I think Virgos can be a little paranoid about their health. My youngest sister Margaret always seems to have some sort of complaint about her body. On a few occasions I've had to tell her that there's nothing wrong with her that it's all in her mind but she doesn't listen to me. My sister Liz on the other hand internalizes everything having Scorpio in her chart she doesn't like to show weakness so she doesn't voice her worries out loud but she's a Virgo through and through. Another sister Ronnie is a Cappie with a Virgo moon and I noticed she's very health conscious. When she goes food shopping everything has to be organic which is great if you can afford it!LOL
When I took the baby to the doctor to get his one year shots, she mailed me this magazine article about mercury in flu shots and that mercury causes autism in babies so I'm really neurotic when I go to the doctors office. At least someones looking out for me.
Thanks Virgo moon sister!

I'm a virgo and was very sick as a child. I was hospitalised at 1.5 year old with three different things..measles ,mumps and a bacterial infection in the mouth. It all stopped around 6 years old though. As an adult I rarely get sick. When something goes around I don't seem to pick it up. But I do usually end up with sinusitus every year or so and have developed some allergies over the years. Also the only bone I broke was my little toe when I smashed it into the coffee table years ago, LOL.

My daughter is a gem and has never been on antibiotics. This child is never sick. As an infant she was ill with different bugs few times but I never rushed her to the doctor for meds(I'm with loggerhead and the homeopathic remedies) I also nursed my dd, so she had the benefit of my strong immune system from birth.

Virgos are mental. We think about things and we're self-aware, this doesn't always equal hysterical. I do however like to have a reason behind every ailment. For example, my neck hurts right now. And I'm asking myself "what the hellll did I do to my neck.. how did this happen", etc. was it the groceries. lying on the sofa without a pillow earlier this evening.. so my mind constantanty wants to know.

I am a virgo sun, merc and mars. I have a lot of health problems, most of it is related to my stomach which is really bad right now. I have asthma, multiple food allergies and a herniated cervical disc in my neck that is pretty bad right now too. Even though i have all these issues i rarely get really sick as in colds, flus and stomach virues. If i do get sick it is mild and short lived. I think there is definetly a mental aspect to my health problems namely stress and worrry.

And i do worry about every little thing that happens to my body. I think that learning coping stratigies for stress and worry will go a long way to helping any virgos with their health complaints as well as keeping the hypochondria in check.

I would definetly focus on that with your son as he grows giving him good outlets for stress and giving him lots of positive things to keep his mind occupied. I know when i have other things to occupy myself that require my full attention i tend to feel much better health wise.good luck to you.

Yeah I'm a Virgo rising, and tend to have health issues. Recently, since the Sun went into Virgo, I've had some weird virus I can't quite kick, that's causing my lymph nodes to swell and get tender. It's kind of freaky though - it's like a mild case of the mumps, but I've already had that.

Well, Planet, you asked for it, LOL! You are going to hear about every little ailment that befalls the Virgo population in LindaLand!

Did you ever notice, on radio shows, there are two subjects that gets people on a roll and they never ever stop talking about it until the moderator gently takes back control? No, not sx, not money either. Their health is one, the other is their pets! It's a riot, really...

Bring it on

I love talking about health, lol I have Saturn in Virgo myself. I drive my family crazy sometimes with my concern for healthy eating. I try not to go overboard, but I dislike having junk food in the house and lots of processed foods. LOL my Cancer is constantly sneaking in treats and soda, its funny when I find the cand wrappers and empty cans.

I'm also into health foods, organics, etc., but I do have a sweet tooth, particularly for Reese's peanut butter cups. But sodas - no way. I usually won't let my kids have any either. But my husband does like his cream soda, so sometimes my kids...

I think when you have a Sun/Moon combination involving Virgo, Aquarius or Gemini (especially if it is a double whammy), you're prone to the same effect. They just have a lot of nervous energy, they may smoke, or suffer from insomnia or germaphobia.

Learning how to breath is important. Relaxation techniques and low-impact exercise such as yoga, meditation. A good diet eliminating as much processed food as possible. Go raw.

Double virgo here. I think there is validity to what you are saying. I get the migraines, stomach aches, nervousness, anxiety attacks (it seems most of my problems are mental/emotional, but a lot of it is genetics too.) I think what it is is that most Virgos are more likely to complain (i do it) about symptoms more so than the other signs. I have a lot of the same things as my mother (a scorp) such as major depression/bipolar disorder. I had my first cavity and had to get my tooth pulled last week but for the longest time I didn't know what it was, just that it really hurt!

Growing up I had a weak immune system and I was sick constantly. I was born a month early and with a hole in my heart. Most of my physical complaints have subsided though, and have been replaced with mental or emotional disorders.
