I am considering penning a nonfiction account of my cancer and recovery. What HOUSE governs publishing/writing/books. I know 6th is associated with health.

Hello Lilygirl

The third house rules communication in general and that includes writing, publishing, books,...etc. The sign that rules these things is Gemini as well.

I wish you the best on your project

hi lilygirl,

i would just like to add that the house of friggin writing gods controls publishing because less than 2% of books written every year are published that year and most writers are never even published in their entire lifetime....
dont mean to discourage by any means i am writing a novel myself, but just wanted to alert you to the situation...some of the most brilliant and poignant writers i know have their 600 letters of rejection to prove it but i hope that if you keep trying you can get there.

Love
SG

I'd say 3rd House Rules Communications and Publishing. But the 7th House (Libra) Rules Books.

i believe the 9th rules publishing:
http://www.skyscript.co.uk/temples/h9.html

here are some rulerships of the 9th:

"The publishing industry, long distance and international communications. Universities, colleges, all places of higher learning or specialist study; professors, philosophical and scientific institutions and publications."

here are some rulerships of the 3rd:

"Letters, rumours, reports, messages and messengers. Communications generally. Newspapers, magazines, telephones, postal service. Written deeds and contracts. Speeches and debates. Our ability to express ourselves and communicate to others. Languages, mobility skills and self-expression."
http://www.skyscript.co.uk/temples/h3.html

hope this helps!

Hi.
Lilygirl, good luck with ure writing career.
I was actually wondering about the same thing these days.
How my natal chart would show any possible career in publishing a book im writing.
If anyone would give me some insight into my natal chart about that, I would
really appreciate it.
I love writing and my big dream is to write and publish books in the future.
Wow really? less than 2 percent of writers get their books published?
Thats sad =(

Definitely the 9th house. Also Gemini though JK rowling has lots of Virgo.

3rd has more to do with early education while 9th is more advanced education, higher learning, publication. If you want to get published through a large publishing house look at the 9th.

i shouldnt shamelessly inject my own qs here, but i am still going to do it

i have a ninth house stellium including my sun, merc, mars, (plus im a Gem sun, so ruler of the third is in the ninth), i also have an earth singleton (neptune) in my third house (sag).

is this a promising placement? i shud think so coz of the ninth house stellium and the gem sun being there. i know i have a flair for writing, but that doesnt point to success necessarily. god knows how many good writers there are out there, completely undiscovered!

Love

My natal chart says I would be good at that.

------------------
Gemini sun, Cancer rising, mercury in Gemini, moon in Taurus *29, venus in Taurus, mars in Libra

Neptun in 3rd would give you imagination. Poetic language.

Well, I know that in many of the old school astrology books, I've consistently read that Libra Rules books.

As for publishing, maybe what I'm thinking is in terms of CAREER, that those with Gemini/3rd House/Mercury energies are more likely to work in the FIELD of publishing, but may not necessarily mean oneself being published.

And yes, Sag/9th House/Jupiter IS definately higher learning. But I'm still not sold that it would deal with oneself being published.

Writing is my calling. Maybe another way to look at this is through personal example, by sharing what I have in my Natal Chart which may contribute to this.

* Sun in Libra
* Moon in the 3rd House
* 3rd House Cusp in Cancer (need to express deep emotions)
* Mercury in Scorpio in the 6th (love of research)
* Jupiter & Saturn in the 9th
* Neptune in Scorpio (willingness to go deep)
* North Node Leo (eventually being acknowledged publicly for it)
* Majority of 1st House in Gemini (since Asc is at 29.50 Degrees Taurus)
