Just got off the phone with my mum who seems to think that astrology, tarot and other esoteric activities is the work of evil on earth...How can I convince her that there is more to understanding this life than church on Sunday? IP: Logged |

here is how.1.make ur father's, mother's and your chart in indian astrology. 2.first look at your chart and find out the most important negative and/or positive planet(s) in ur chart. 3. comapre that planet's position with ur parents chart. you will notice that the sign and/or the house that planet is in is a direct derivative from your parent's charts. offcourse one might argue that NN, SN, uranus, neptune and pluto are so slow moving that they might be there for generations. but wait...we are not considering the last three in indian astrology. and as for NN and SN... look at their house placements. agh! just give me ur and their borth times. i have a software to calculate indian astro charts. i'll show u the significance. then show it to ur mom. this is true for all individuals whos parents are their actual biological parents else their birth infos are wrong! Unfortunately you can't make your mom see. Until people are ready for enlightenment it can't be forced on them. I grew up in a very religious home and for years I thought of astrology as some form of divination - a dark art if you will. I was a blind fool. Fortunately I had some people I respected that thought there was something to astrology, and that got me to thinking. In the end it was my own scientific, inquisitive mind that lead me to the truth. I decided to research astrology to see if there really was anything to it - and lo and behold I found it to be a shockingly accurate method of personality profiling people. I think the best thing you can do is gently speak the truth. Don’t argue with her. She won't truly hear you, however if you speak the words of truth in a loving manner you may make a dent. Speak in clear, scientific terms. Explain that astrology is nothing more than a tool for personality profiling. You could offer to do her chart - just so she could see if it was accurate. She probably won't let you, but offering it won't hurt. She won’t believe it immediately, however perhaps over time the seeds your words left in her heart will blossom into something that resembles open-mindedness. We can only hope. IP: Logged |

Maybe to her it is.....evil....my mother feels the same too.....let them believe what they want to....if you try to convert it will only drive them further against it and they will rebel....haha..parents rebelling..how cool is that??xxx IP: Logged |

We were talking and I mentioned that "scorps are going to have a good year" or something like that and she went on about not letting evil into my life.I am a complete novice, but find all of this interesting... When she was my age she was not only into Astrology but EST and other forms of channeling...she's an Aqua what can I say? IP: Logged |

I agree, that she has her own path and, she should not be pushed,..... nor should she push you, however..... but, she's your Momma and, worry is a constant companion. Maybe, in just going about your own and, with patience, letting her do the same,.... who knows, maybe you each hold lessons for and, to, each other...? Evolution ~ your analysis has me so, incredibly curious! Don't suppose I could get more info? I have the birth info needed..... ~ geminstone IP: Logged |

*sigh* extremist in any religion are difficult. There are several places on the web that do astrology through a Christian perspective. Try google, it should turn up something. That's probably the best that you can do. It's possible that it won't make a bit of difference to her, if not... just leave it alone. You can't teach someone who doesn't want to learn. IP: Logged |

naahh, you cant to force anyone to understand or believe,a sceptic will always be sceptical, while a believer will always be a believer....and usually when try to prove these kind of things(astro and stuff),the opposition only becomes stronger....She will have to realise by herself. IP: Logged |

Devils work? Oh, puh-lease.Calmly explain to her the Jews has always practiced astrology, the three "wise men" or three maji who "followed the star" were astrologers. Then find a copy of the Dead Sea Scrolls (written by the followers of Jesus) and show her they are filled with page after page of astrology chart of famous jewish leaders. Anyone of any importance in the Juewish faith had their chart worked up. IP: Logged |

I think anything has the potential of drawing out darker ego qualities within ourselves if they are not approached from a loving, positive truth-seeking frame of mind. I love ice cream but I can overdo it and it turn I could get down on myself, complain about my weight, life, get sad, etc. Ice cream in itself is not "evil" but if it's abused it can become the cause of negative behavior. This is true for movie, drugs, sex, whatever! The problem with astrology and tarot are the MISUSE of these tools. When I was in my twenties I incorrectly messed with these tools because I did not know the "laws" of metaphysics. When I read these tools now I recognize that they do not control me; everything is in my power to choose. They cannot predict what I will do, only offer choices for me. In that sense they are empowering not controlling.IP: Logged |
